I use a chin mount on my helmet for my GoPro. Different K1 locations might have different rules regarding if you are allowed your own camera or not, ours at least allows it for GP.
Really depends on the location, so I'd ask whoever runs your GP events before buying one. Some allow GoPros, some have needed multiple people asking about it to convince them to allow them, some places are a flat-out no. Hell, the K1 in Canton OH live streams their events on TH-cam! First I've heard of the GP races charging extra to record the race - that's really shitty.
