This year will tell us the truth. They can't just pack the dealer lots with more "sold" vehicles since the lots have no more space. They will actually have to sell vehicles to consumers to make room for more stock.

They likely will do what many Dodge Ram dealers have done and force the manufacturer to buy back the unsold vehicles or they will go out of business like many auto dealers already have. I suspect the OEM's are betting on a government bailout to save them. I'm hoping that Trump forces them all to take a huge loss and possibly go out of business. Out of the ashes of bankruptcy perhaps smaller, wiser auto makers who make reasonably priced cars that the public actually wants will emerge.
Well said. If you read their reports they often use the term “delivered”… meaning vehicles delivered to dealers. Not sold… just handed over to dealerships, but still considered as a positive for the manufacturer’s widget counter.

Dealers are going bankrupt and a lot of their franchise agreements have the OEM responsible for buying back the unsold new inventory. That'll do a number on their stock value when that starts to happen! I really hope the incoming administration doesn't do a bail out for them. There needs to be a free market correction and the auto makers need to be held accountable.

I think it is due to the same thing that happens here in the UK. Over 90% of all new car "Sales" are just rentals. Or to use the posh word - lease. People cannot possibly afford to lay £50+k down for a car but £299 a month? Even for a 50k car? This is how these "expensive" cars sell. And by the way, last time I looked the AVERAGE new car price in the UK is an astonishing £35k. Madness as you say.
The horror stories i've heard and the amount of repos....people are upside down like crazy and have huge payments. I don't care to shame these people...they are hurting pretty bad for making horrible choices and are now dealing with it, maybe they will eventually learn it's not worth having a 1200 payment when they only bring in 2400.
I waited through the covid debacle, and if I didn't buy this year, cost going up options getting removed l bought this year and not unhappy I did, it's all good in my life too bad others bought and paid 20k over msrp the last 5 years, which added to the cost of current prices.
If there is any "good" news for Full Size pickup truck shoppers it is that the window stickers mean nothing. On left over supply that is sitting on dealer lots the minimum opening offer should be MSRP less 20% before any rebates or incentives. And for vehicles that have been sitting on lots for 9-12 months or more you should also be asking for things like a new battery, complete detailing and an extended OEM warranty free of charge. Dealers have been paying floor cost interest on these vehicles for a long time. They are motivated to deal if you press them. You won't get a deal if you don't ask for it. That said, even with 20%+ off on a $80K vehicle that sold for $45K in 2021 still might not be a bargain in most people's books.

I ordered a new truck two weeks ago. Prices aren't coming down and if tariffs are put in place, prices will climb higher. Maybe the market will tank, but i doubt it. Plus, dealers aren't getting too aggressive on dropping prices so they know the trucks will move off their lot without having to give them away.
I used to watch TFL Truck but I stopped because every single video they’d say “this truck at $85k is a bargain!” When 5 years ago that same truck was $65k
GM (Government Motors) is a past master at extracting Tax Payer funded bail outs. And they do it on an International Basis. The second the the subsidies ended, Holden (Australia), Opel (Europe) and Vauxhall (UK) was either flogged off or shut down.
3 years ago those same $100,000 trucks were only $50,000 which means they increase the price by half. Once they drop the price by half then people will start buying the trucks again. Where do you think used vehicles come from, the used car fairy? Used truck prices have dropped significantly over the past two years from the pandemic-related highs. The local carpenter or plumber might drive a beater but there will eventually be a demand for new vehicles. The pricing will undoubtedly reduce the demand which will result in a similar reduction in production to bring the price/demand curves into alignment. The manufacturer's will finally realize that loading up basic vehicles with technology gadgetry that isn't needed (and maybe even wanted) by consumers and they will reduce the cost of production by reducing the inclusion of so much technology that doesn't enhance performance. I own a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax with 125,000 miles. It runs great and has all the technology that I need to use it on my ranch. but it's starting to need a lot of little things like ball joints and wheel bearings and interior items like seat covers and buttons/knobs on windows, door locks, etc. But it's still a lot cheaper than a $1500/month payment and higher insurance premiums. A 10 speed transmission versus my 5 speed gives it an extra 1 or 2 mpg but mine is a bulletproof Allison and there are many, many stories about issues with 9 and 10spd boxes. But ... at some point in time I will eventually have no choice but to buy a truck. It might be used but it was new at some point.
Ford and GM did sell more cars but it was to the Car Dealership and the car Dealership have not been able to sell them, but Ford and GM do report record sales that tells you how much they care about the dealerships that actually make thier business, all they care about is the numbers for thier stock shares holders.
That's exactly it. One of the Ford dealers here in my hometown still has "new" 2023 F-150's on the lot. They actually started renting parking lot space at the mall to store more vehicles. It's insane!

Here’s an oldie: money talks and BS walks. I rarely see new cars in my area. I have no idea how dealers stay in business. Oh wait: the cars on the lot are eye candy, salesmen are all on commission, and the service department is printing cash with all the repairs on shoddy new cars are recalls, as well as on older cars people choose to hold on to.
Have a small 2 small businesses . have a bunch of trucks f350 up to f750s. need to replace a few. Not buying any trucks till they cut the price in half. 2017 bought a f550 all in 51k . now the same truck with less options is 98k. Outrageous.
I'm sitting on a $2,000 Ford credit on top of any incentive or deal to go back. It expires in March. Guess what? They have nothing that I want to replace my 2018 Tundra because of their prices and reliability/quality issues. Heck new Tundras and Tacomas are off the list too.
Unfortunately, it is getting harder to distinguish the truth of the news! One report said that they have a tremendous amount of unsold vehicles sitting on their dealers lots and then this report on the tremendous increase!
I went to a Ford dealer in early Decemeber 2024 and they tried to price the F150 more than $8,000 over their advertised price (not including Taxes) and gave me a interest rate of 3.9% without running my credit - they had a Sh%t fit when I told them I was pre-approved with Ford Credit, my lowest Fico was 765 to 795. After (My wife said, give them 1 more chance) 40 minutes of their dealer B.S I told my wife & daughter lets walk - and walked out while the sales manager was trying to tell me why they were trying to bend me over.... 2 days later the General Manger called me telling me it has been all a big mistake ......... I WANTED a F150 4x4, not NEEDED, they lost a sale and I still have my money - I'll revisit it when the prices drop 35-50%, or just rent from Herzt/Uhaul when I need a truck LoL
We were online 4 weeks ago to look at a new car, online at home !!!!! The dealership has been calling us there times a week and we never gave them our number ? 😮 I'am 59 and gave never had this happen ! Yeah this is the first time I saw this channel. Looked at the list of videos to see what kind of content he had. All I saw were videos on car sales crash in 2025.
There isn’t going to be a hard crash in car sales. Just like every TH-camr called for crashes in 2023 and 2024. Manufacturers are lowering prices and if you actually look at the trend line of price increases over time we actually aren’t that far off from trend now that prices have stabilized. A 10% decrease would put us right back at the trend line.

I think the 25 models are already locked in but with regulation changes and EV changes with the new administration...it's going to be fun to see what direction the manufacturers will go.
The current car market is insane, i can't imagine buying a new vehicle today when everything is so much more expensive and so much less reliable. Im perfectly happy with my 2007 Lexus at the moment and my next truck purchase is probably going to be something older than this
I don't understand you, I'm sorry I didn't catch your name. You keep saying that cars are overpriced (which they are). Yet, you insist that dealers sell them at cost or even at a loss (hugely discounted) to make up sales numbers. So which one is it? Are cars overpriced or are they hugely discounted?
Sales isn’t driving prices. Huge subsidies for EV’s and PHEV’s. Exorbitant prices for trucks and SUV’s. Base model Maverick price was once $20K. This is all CAFE. Full-size crew cab long beds have the most lenient mpg at approximately 23mpg combined. Not gonna happen. Most body on frame vehicles can’t reach 23mpg, and many have much tighter fuel economy requirements. They don’t really want to sell trucks unless they can make enough to give away EV’s or pay CAFE penalties. Even if sales collapse, they aren’t going to give trucks away or reduce prices. If you want cheaper trucks, CAFE will have to be reformed. Killing the footprints regs could be a good start. They would be subsidizing small CUV’s/SUV’s rather than putting $12,000 on the hood of an EV.

There’s really only 2 options: either pay the price of a new truck or don’t pay it and keep your old truck. The prices are what they are, it is what it is. No use in crying over spoiled milk.

Great breakdown of the sales #'s...agree that the OEMs can't disclose the real details otherwise shareholders will dump the stock which will have bigger issues. Question - do you think there is a bit of a waiting game going on between OEMs/dealerships and customers? The average age of vehicles on the road keeps creeping up so there will be a time when the customers will have to "buy" because they don't have a viable alternate option. It would be curious to see when the wave of vehicle purchasing will take place due to obsolescence issues...I'm thinking late 2026 into 2027.

Great video, but wholeheartedly disagree with the idea that producing more of a vehicle equates to selling more of a vehicle (regarding Tacoma at 2:19). If this was the case, all manufacturers would have to do is produce more vehicles, right? Wrong. Production is likely based of projected sales, not the other way around.
The dealers are making cars at higher quanities to provide a lower price. The prices have gone down a bit, but not enough. They probably cleared profits by a good margin, and the remainder can be sold at slightly lower cost and still gain a profit. I understand what you're saying with quantities built compared to sales, but it's most likely a strategy to have stock and lower prices. We manufactured protein powders and we did the same stradegy for lower high volume cost and unlike cars we had a exp date but marketing plans were made to support the higher production. I'm sure The dealers also did the same.
Oh man brother. You have an expedition in a snowy climate. I also have one, and boy so they rust fast!!!! Spend a ton of time to frequently and well spray off your frame, suspension, exhaust and exhaust manifolds. These rusted heavily in 3 years on mine, by year 6, both exhaust manifolds rusted through and fell off, exhaust swiss cheese, suspension roached, running boards roached, got Ford sucks nuts at corrosion resistance.
I live in Washington state, where the sale of new gasoline powered vehicles, including hybrids, are banned, effective after 2029. That being said, I purchased a new 2024 Camry SE AWD for under $30,000.00. Apparently, most people prefer hybrids or EVs in Washington state. They are very expensive.
The thing I don't here anyone talking about is defining what a sale means. I have heard it said that a sale for "Ford" means it went from Ford manufacturing to a dealer. A sale for "Toyota" might mean from dealer to consumer. I put those in quote because it could be any car company. I don't know if any of that is the case, but I think understanding what sale is for each manufacturer is important to making sense of all of this.
Although I am fortunate enough to be able to, that doesn't mean I'm foolish enough to throw my hard earned money away. Never again will I buy a new vehicle.
I will say this, on a recent road trip to Colorado, I must have seen at least 70 to 80 new cars on the road with thirty day tags. I cannot recall ever seeing that before. People were buyers in December.

I don’t think the deals aren’t going to be like 50% off or whatever people are expecting. If you truly need something, go find a decent deal. If not, don’t go broke buying - just expect to pay more in the future. 45k trucks are a thing of the past.
1st snow super late in the season because of global warming? I know in any one year there's natural variation, but they keep a lot of statistics on climate and the winters are getting warmer. Hence the push for EVs. So that Phoenix can maybe stay livable for another 40 years instead of only another 20 years.
You could not get me into a dealership. I have even stopped going for service. Why do I want to spend $250 for a transmission flush at the dealer when I can spend $ 125 at Big O? People seem to think that they have to use the dealership for all services. We have 2 2023 Hyundai's. They run great and I do all maintenance as per the Hyundai service manual. But I will not pay their prices.

Very good video. Just sitting back waiting to see what CDJR does in the near future. We gave up a while ago on buying a new SUV. The prices are just insane and stupid. Forget about the car industry crash. The auto loan crash is coming and it's going to be bad. People are not going to be able to get auto loans once they default on the current ones they have. Just like when people bought houses, they couldn't afford now they are buying autos they can't afford. Smart people will just sit back and wait patiently and then benefit from the fallout.

I appreciate you! I got ford to buy back my 2023 Explorer ST due to quality issues and mainly wind noise in August of last year. And for anybody also looking into an Explorer the ST is the best bang for buck you can buy for performance SUV hands down. DO NOT buy a 2024 or older. Wind noise in them is high plus insanely outdated infotainment system. Same for Lincoln aviators btw.. Get the 2025 models on both. They are built better plus wireless Apple car play FINALLY! I may end up getting the 2025 ST but waiting for Ford to get their head out of their ass and come off the interest rates. Not going any higher than 1.9%!! Nope! Not doing it. I’ve really been shopping around and appreciating videos like this. 2025 GMC Acadia Denali is actually top on my list right now. If anyone is looking for a good looking feature rich luxury mid sized SUV. Check it out! Test drove it the other day probably going back tmw actually. Doesn’t have the performance as the ST but holy moly the built quality is superb. Very quiet ride and has active noise canceling. Tesla style infotainment. Lots to love on that car. Anyways. The vehicle market has always been cyclical, and discounts off MSRP are nothing new, if your frame of reference is more than 5 or 10 years. My frame of reference is over 40 years. Another thing I heard a long time ago is: don't believe it when someone says they're not making any profit on this sale.
There won’t ever be a car market crash we learned this back in 2008 when the government bailed out some of the companies.. inflation will continue because part of our gdp is gov spending and they spend it to businesses too big to fail .. we don’t live in a free market anymore
People always get better pricing at the end of the year; this isn't a surprise. Dealers ALWAYS want to move old inventory so they can get the new model years on the lot. Plus, now that COVID is over, manufacturers are finally filling lots back to normal levels. You are used to seeing empty lots but the lots being full are NORMAL. It's okay, you'll be right at some point so you can say "I told you so."

yes most of them are made in the usa, the largest toyota factory in the world is in kentucky and builds the camry, and in ky we also build the corvette and the F250. and in michigan they build many different vehicles and lots of stuff is being built in the south now for cheaper labor in mississippi and alabama etc. but almost all the parts are manufactured somewhere else(mexico,china,taiwan ETC)
All car companies would have to have a record 2024 year for them not to crash.. If, let's stay Stellantis has a terrible year (which it did), they're going to lower their prices, same with Nissan..etc.. People will go to the lower priced vehicles forcing Ford\GM to follow the trend.. That's my guess \ hope anyways.. What do you guys think?

The pricing will undoubtedly reduce the demand which will result in a similar reduction in production to bring the price/demand curves into alignment. The manufacturer's will finally realize that loading up basic vehicles with technology gadgetry that isn't needed (and maybe even wanted) by consumers and they will reduce the cost of production by reducing the inclusion of so much technology that doesn't enhance performance. I own a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax with 125,000 miles. It runs great and has all the technology that I need to use it on my ranch. but it's starting to need a lot of little things like ball joints and wheel bearings and interior items like seat covers and buttons/knobs on windows, door locks, etc. But it's still a lot cheaper than a $1500/month payment and higher insurance premiums. A 10 speed transmission versus my 5 speed gives it an extra 1 or 2 mpg but mine is a bulletproof Allison and there are many, many stories about issues with 9 and 10spd boxes.
But ... at some point in time I will eventually have no choice but to buy a truck. It might be used but it was new at some point.
Ford and GM did sell more cars but it was to the Car Dealership and the car Dealership have not been able to sell them, but Ford and GM do report record sales that tells you how much they care about the dealerships that actually make thier business, all they care about is the numbers for thier stock shares holders.
That's exactly it. One of the Ford dealers here in my hometown still has "new" 2023 F-150's on the lot. They actually started renting parking lot space at the mall to store more vehicles. It's insane!

Oh wait: the cars on the lot are eye candy, salesmen are all on commission, and the service department is printing cash with all the repairs on shoddy new cars are recalls, as well as on older cars people choose to hold on to.
Have a small 2 small businesses . have a bunch of trucks f350 up to f750s. need to replace a few. Not buying any trucks till they cut the price in half. 2017 bought a f550 all in 51k . now the same truck with less options is 98k. Outrageous.

I'm sitting on a $2,000 Ford credit on top of any incentive or deal to go back. It expires in March. Guess what? They have nothing that I want to replace my 2018 Tundra because of their prices and reliability/quality issues. Heck new Tundras and Tacomas are off the list too.

I went to a Ford dealer in early Decemeber 2024 and they tried to price the F150 more than $8,000 over their advertised price (not including Taxes) and gave me a interest rate of 3.9% without running my credit - they had a Sh%t fit when I told them I was pre-approved with Ford Credit, my lowest Fico was 765 to 795. After (My wife said, give them 1 more chance) 40 minutes of their dealer B.S I told my wife & daughter lets walk - and walked out while the sales manager was trying to tell me why they were trying to bend me over.... 2 days later the General Manger called me telling me it has been all a big mistake ......... I WANTED a F150 4x4, not NEEDED, they lost a sale and I still have my money - I'll revisit it when the prices drop 35-50%, or just rent from Herzt/Uhaul when I need a truck LoL

The dealership has been calling us there times a week and we never gave them our number ? 😮 I'am 59 and gave never had this happen ! There isn’t going to be a hard crash in car sales. Just like every TH-camr called for crashes in 2023 and 2024. Manufacturers are lowering prices and if you actually look at the trend line of price increases over time we actually aren’t that far off from trend now that prices have stabilized. A 10% decrease would put us right back at the trend line.
You need to look closer. Prices are too high and the vehicles are less reliable then they used to be.

Sales isn’t driving prices. Huge subsidies for EV’s and PHEV’s. Exorbitant prices for trucks and SUV’s. Base model Maverick price was once $20K. This is all CAFE. Full-size crew cab long beds have the most lenient mpg at approximately 23mpg combined. Not gonna happen. Most body on frame vehicles can’t reach 23mpg, and many have much tighter fuel economy requirements. They don’t really want to sell trucks unless they can make enough to give away EV’s or pay CAFE penalties. Even if sales collapse, they aren’t going to give trucks away or reduce prices.
If you want cheaper trucks, CAFE will have to be reformed. Killing the footprints regs could be a good start. They would be subsidizing small CUV’s/SUV’s rather than putting $12,000 on the hood of an EV.

Yeah the so called crash isn’t happening people, let’s just face it. People can throw a million tantrums, but the prices aren’t coming down. There’s really only 2 options: either pay the price of a new truck or don’t pay it and keep your old truck. The prices are what they are, it is what it is. No use in crying over spoiled milk.

Question - do you think there is a bit of a waiting game going on between OEMs/dealerships and customers? The average age of vehicles on the road keeps creeping up so there will be a time when the customers will have to "buy" because they don't have a viable alternate option. It would be curious to see when the wave of vehicle purchasing will take place due to obsolescence issues...I'm thinking late 2026 into 2027.

Great video, but wholeheartedly disagree with the idea that producing more of a vehicle equates to selling more of a vehicle (regarding Tacoma at 2:19). If this was the case, all manufacturers would have to do is produce more vehicles, right? Wrong. Production is likely based of projected sales, not the other way around.
I assume everyone knows HOW GM and Ford stuffed the channels. Now they sit on lots with insane prices, with dealers holding all the risk.
The dealers are making cars at higher quanities to provide a lower price. The prices have gone down a bit, but not enough. They probably cleared profits by a good margin, and the remainder can be sold at slightly lower cost and still gain a profit. I understand what you're saying with quantities built compared to sales, but it's most likely a strategy to have stock and lower prices. We manufactured protein powders and we did the same stradegy for lower high volume cost and unlike cars we had a exp date but marketing plans were made to support the higher production. I'm sure The dealers also did the same.
Oh man brother. You have an expedition in a snowy climate. I also have one, and boy so they rust fast!!!! Spend a ton of time to frequently and well spray off your frame, suspension, exhaust and exhaust manifolds. These rusted heavily in 3 years on mine, by year 6, both exhaust manifolds rusted through and fell off, exhaust swiss cheese, suspension roached, running boards roached, got Ford sucks nuts at corrosion resistance.

I live in Washington state, where the sale of new gasoline powered vehicles, including hybrids, are banned, effective after 2029.
That being said, I purchased a new 2024 Camry SE AWD for under $30,000.00. Apparently, most people prefer hybrids or EVs in Washington state. They are very expensive.

The thing I don't here anyone talking about is defining what a sale means. I have heard it said that a sale for "Ford" means it went from Ford manufacturing to a dealer. A sale for "Toyota" might mean from dealer to consumer. I put those in quote because it could be any car company. I don't know if any of that is the case, but I think understanding what sale is for each manufacturer is important to making sense of all of this.

Not willing to wait any longer to “see how this all goes down”, tbh. Needed a ride, bought a ride. I got a good deal all things considered, a bit over 3k below invoice. I don’t think the deals aren’t going to be like 50% off or whatever people are expecting. If you truly need something, go find a decent deal. If not, don’t go broke buying - just expect to pay more in the future. 45k trucks are a thing of the past.

You could not get me into a dealership. I have even stopped going for service. Why do I want to spend $250 for a transmission flush at the dealer when I can spend $ 125 at Big O? People seem to think that they have to use the dealership for all services. We have 2 2023 Hyundai's. They run great and I do all maintenance as per the Hyundai service manual. But I will not pay their prices.

Forget about the car industry crash. The auto loan crash is coming and it's going to be bad. People are not going to be able to get auto loans once they default on the current ones they have. I appreciate you! I got ford to buy back my 2023 Explorer ST due to quality issues and mainly wind noise in August of last year. And for anybody also looking into an Explorer the ST is the best bang for buck you can buy for performance SUV hands down. DO NOT buy a 2024 or older. Wind noise in them is high plus insanely outdated infotainment system. Same for Lincoln aviators btw.. Get the 2025 models on both. They are built better plus wireless Apple car play FINALLY! I may end up getting the 2025 ST but waiting for Ford to get their head out of their ass and come off the interest rates. Not going any higher than 1.9%!! Nope! Not doing it. I’ve really been shopping around and appreciating videos like this. 2025 GMC Acadia Denali is actually top on my list right now. If anyone is looking for a good looking feature rich luxury mid sized SUV. Check it out! Test drove it the other day probably going back tmw actually. Doesn’t have the performance as the ST but holy moly the built quality is superb. Very quiet ride and has active noise canceling. Tesla style infotainment. Lots to love on that car. Anyways. The vehicle market has always been cyclical, and discounts off MSRP are nothing new, if your frame of reference is more than 5 or 10 years. My frame of reference is over 40 years. Another thing I heard a long time ago is: don't believe it when someone says they're not making any profit on this sale.
There won’t ever be a car market crash we learned this back in 2008 when the government bailed out some of the companies.. inflation will continue because part of our gdp is gov spending and they spend it to businesses too big to fail .. we don’t live in a free market anymore
and don't forget that FoMoCo has received 1.7 _billion_ USD in subsidies in the 2023. Add 2010, 2011 and the total becomes 5 billion USD 👀
People always get better pricing at the end of the year; this isn't a surprise. Dealers ALWAYS want to move old inventory so they can get the new model years on the lot. Plus, now that COVID is over, manufacturers are finally filling lots back to normal levels. You are used to seeing empty lots but the lots being full are NORMAL.

yes most of them are made in the usa, the largest toyota factory in the world is in kentucky and builds the camry, and in ky we also build the corvette and the F250. and in michigan they build many different vehicles and lots of stuff is being built in the south now for cheaper labor in mississippi and alabama etc. but almost all the parts are manufactured somewhere else(mexico,china,taiwan ETC)
