Coach Kennie thank you for this electrical tape tip. My original grip is getting powdery and disintegrating easily. Thank you again! I’m learning a lot from your channel my love for badminton is coming back to me hahaha. Stay safe coach hope to meet you someday!
Thank you for your kind words. Really appreciate it & happy to know the electrical tape will be useful for you. Hoping to meet u in the future as well! 😁🏸
I grip my racket very thin as I can roll the grip very easily in my hand to shift to the shots quickly. thin grip gives more control for me as it give maximum sensitivity of the handle and also I can more preciously feel the handle point when hitting backhand or other shots. new thing I learnt today is that it can be remove and reverse grip to give a new look :)
Thanks for sharing your preference. I agree that the grip really depends on the person as to what is comfortable for each individual. Thanks for your comment😁🏸

Thank you for always appreciating the video I put out. It means a lot to me when I am able to give people useful tips or add little bits of knowledge. Thank you my friend! 😁🏸
Hi Coach, many thanks for another useful video. I don't change the grip that regular but I came across an old racquet in good condition , which I really like the feeel of ' Yonex Armortec 800 Offensive' , so had it restrung and new grip. It has not seen any action yet due to lockdown but that day will come.
Nice - Yonex Armortec 800! 🏸 Well hopefully this lockdown will be over soon for all of us... everyone wants to get back on court already! Let me know if the racket still feels the same after the lockdown... 🏸🏸😁😁 Stay healthy & safe!
Its so hard to find cheap quality grips these days and if you buy in bulk the risk of them degrading and peeling / crumbling due to not using enough grips from a bulk package is quite expensive too. Lucky I change my grip every 3 weeks. Wood G5 + electrical tape + overgrip.
Thanks for sharing your preferred grip and habits of changing the grip. I fully understand what you mean about buying by the bulk. Try to store the grips in a cool dry place. Maybe too much heat or too much moisture can weaken it. 😁🏸
Did you mean the tension of the string? The higher the tension the bouncier it can be so you need more control. You have to be strong enough to control it. I normally have my racket at 26-27 tension. I once tried going up to 30 because thats what my brother uses that tension (and he’s a smasher) and my elbow started to hurt. Maybe its me and the higher tension made the vibration stronger and hurt my elbow so i went back to using 26-27 tension only. All these is a trial and error thing to know what works for you. Good luck! 😁🏸
Ya me too, i change grip when it doesn’t feel good to the hands or when it looks dirty already... but these are all case to case basis... you can prolong it a bit. It’s really upto the player. Thanks for sharing! 😁🏸
Thanks madam... my hand and foot also sweat at any time its big problem to me the game... any tips for me... any glove to use at playing time? Or towel grip which is better for me? Thin grip is now i feel better on my racket! Pls recommend Which racquet use for my game i am not a professional player but i love the game... i am teacher... so elbow or shoulder sometimes pain heavy so pls suggest any racquet i like smashes ...
Hi! If your hands are sweaty you can use wrist bands to stop sweat from going down your palmor there’s this special powder you put on your palm to make it sticky. Gloves are hard because it might limit your hands quick movement. As for racket, i always say its very personal. I always try to hold one and have a swing and see if i like the feel. Although you mentioned you are a smasher and i know smashers like them head heavy becasue it helps with their smashes.
Hi coach Kennie, thanks for doing these videos, they are great. I am having few questions regarding finding the correct grip thickness for a while but I couldn't find a good answer in any of the badminton forums. How can someone find the best thickness for the grip depending on the size of hand? Possibly by trial and error but are there any tips that to help identify or indicators of not using right thickness of the grip? (like what happens or feel if the grip is too thin or too thick)
A good grip size is when you grip your racket its not too small that your 4 fingers are closing in to hurt the thumb and palm area, there should be a small space for that and at the same time you should feel comfortable when you have to move your grip during the game. Like its not hard to put up your thumb for the backhand and go back to the standard grip. But really its trial and error... Let me know what works for you. 😁🏸
@@CoachKennieAsuncion thanks coach. I did try out different grips including the towel grip. I don't as much to use the towel grip and I didn't like the feel of it when it get stiffer. Also I stopped using Yonex SuperGrap as it is too tacky and gave blisters on my palm. I currently use Kawasaki grip which has a bit of a texture. For the thickness, I wrap one grip over the original one. which seems works for me. If I wrap 2 grips over the original I felt the grip handle is too squashy and bit difficult to change from forehand to backhand grip. Thanks again for responding to my question. Looking forward to see more videos from you. Take care.
Thanks for sharing your preference... i specifically like the super grap when i use 2 of it ... but i’m glad you found whats good for you. Some people like the textured ones so they can grip it better. Anyway, good to know you found what’s right for you. Tc & Stay healthy & safe😁🏸
Maybe you should look into grips that has a different feel not the smooth one. Some have designs that lets your grip stick... checkout yonex AC 7500 E or the AC 7600 E... checkout sunriseclick.com... but an option is to use a wrist band... i did that before & it helped me. 😁🏸
Hi, I bought an overgrip to put it over the existing grip but now my racket is very head light and before it was balanced. Should I take off both grips and leave the overgrip on only?
I change it very often 😄 , that's the problem , because the grips are too pricy to change often . And one more thing , I also do it the same way you have told 🤘😃❤️.
Hi Ajay! Ya grips are pricey if you change too often. That’s probably why i also like washing my hands before using my racket so at least its clean and only sweat to deal with ... 😁🏸 we should probly time each other changing our grips then compare notes how to do it faster since we do it the same way haha😉🏸
So basically, if I bought a new racket… I’ll remove first the plastic and wrap the grip over the original grip? Or electrical tape over the original grip then the overgrip? So three layers total?
please also keep in mind that every overgrip (approx. 6-10g) will change the balance point of the racket and also add weight to it !!! A head heavy racket can easily turn into a even balanced or head light racket or vise versa if you take the original grip off !!! ;-)
I have a problem that my hand is smaller and whenever I use a towel grip it feels like the racket is automatically did the shot.what should I do? Can grip powder can help me
My hands are small too so i make sure to have a grip that’s just right so its very comfortable to move it. Do you really prefer towel grip? I only like towel when its newly placed because it feels soft but after a few uses it gets hard from dried sweat so i dont like the feel. Have you tried other types? I like the tourna grip i use. I feel i have control of my grip and not slippery for me. 😁🏸
nice, but different from my gripping, especially the way you start to grip, the triangle part left is not good, l guess. By the way, I only change my grip if it is filthy enough, too bad, isn’t it?coach
Ya i am used to leaving a small part of the grip in excess... but i know others prefer other ways... i also just change my grip when I think its dirty or getting slippery because its worn out but other than that i just keep using it too haha😉🏸
Hello coach.. I use thinner grip but nowadays I feel some pain in my wrist.. what is the cause? Racket or grip?and I'm playing with heavy head racket.......🤔🤔🏸🏸
There are so many factors why your wrist could hurt, it could be overuse. Maybe you’ve been playing more. Try to stretch it a bit after you play. If you just changed racket it could also be a factor but if you’ve been using that racket from way back then thats probably not it. Try to rest your wrist a bit but if the pain wont go away, it’s always best to consult the doctor just to be sure. Tc and hope your wrist feels better soon. 😁🏸
You’re welcome! Glad to know your wrist is feeling better. Now dont overuse it inmediately after the lockdown even if you’re very excited to get back on court😜😁 Stay healthy & safe! 😁🏸

Sometimes I feel that a thin grip is good while sometimes I like the thick (as it gives a cushioning feel) grip. My friends say that I am using a thick grip which is not helping my game. When I played with a racket having a thin grip, I felt confident. But previously when I used a thin grip, my fingers ached. What should I do? 🤔
I think that you are more comfortable with a thin grip based on what you said but it was a good try to see if using a thicker one is better and you felt it wasn’t so now going back to the thinner grip feels different again which makes your fingers ache. Give it some time to adjust back to the thin grip if it still wont then you have to start looking into options on what grip to put so it give you that feel of an in between thin and thick grip😁🏸
