  • If you want to improve your footwork even when you are not on the badminton court, there are some exercises you can do at home or almost anywhere that can help you achieve this. Practising these drills can help you move more efficiently when you are actually on the court, and can help you develop good habits. In this video, Coach Kennie Asuncion shows you a footwork workout that can help you effectively cover your side of the court.

      Hey ! I guess your footwork has improved since your comment. How did you manage to train your footwork ? Did you just repeat and drill for a couple of minutes the same movements as in the video each time you played badminton ? It might be a weird question but I just wanted to know what could be the best way to drill these out of your experience since you started practicing these regularly :)) Thanks in advance !

    Kennie, elsewhere I've seen what seems to be another technique, the split step and the explosive start. It seems to be slightly different from what you are showing here. When I watch you moving around I really like the smoothness of your moves rather than explosiveness. And the split step and start seems to be shorter than the steps that you are showing here. What is your view about it? Is it a different approach or school of footwork? Is it either this or that or these things go together? Is also useful or necessary to learn?

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a very good question, whichever is more comfortable for you to use, even inter changing the split step with what i show is all good. It’s all about using what is best for you. What is comfortable for you and makes you get to the shot faster is what you should use😁🏸 i will be doing a video on split step soon😁🏸

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion
      @CoachKennieAsuncion  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure your racket is positioned same level as the net or only slightly higher when u raise your arm to high shots will pass through your racket and if you hold your racket too low all your return shots will be lifted to get it over the net and that is dangerous ... 😁🏸

    Hi coach Kennie, I've been playing badminton for fun and joining school sports events for almost 5 years. Now, I enrolled for training sessions. I noticed that when doing footwork, my legs (mostly upper thigh) get tired easily and they lose strength in the middle of drills so I'm not able to finish a set properly. Any tips or exercises I can do so that my legs can endure and gain strength for footwork?

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion

    • @CoachKennieAsuncion

      When dealing with deceptive shots do not panic. It is good you’ve already acknowledged having difficulty with it. The key is to not move too fast especially when you are only anticipating the next shot. Instead “eyes on shuttle only” keep your focus on that and make sure to have quick start upon seeing the shot! 😁🏸

      It is right that you should drag your non dominant leg when the dominant leg is lunging. Make sure u are not over stretched. I think based on your explanation you are doing it the right way just be conscious of the little details such as not overstretching or lacking in step. Keep practicing the footwork and you will eventually do them with ease and comfort. 😁🏸

    one query, where to stand in middle, center point for all?

      Positioning in the middle is the basic position but during the play you have to anticipate what shots your opponent loves to give to you so you can adjust. If your opponent loves to drop then your middle will move slightly to the front and if opponent loves pushing to the back, you’ll still be in the middle but maybe a step back to anticipate the shot... 😁🏸

    Madom i have a doubt.. When we do front corner with 2 step, we dont reach the shuttle, then we want to step 3 steps. Then how is the footwork....

    mam is it important to cover any side in three steps

      Its technically not just how many steps. It’s more important to get the footwork without thinking much about it and learning to adjust the steps depending on how near of far the shuttle is from you😁🏸
