Youth Hill Plovdiv Bulgaria or also called Dzhendem tepe is the biggest and highest of the seven Plovdiv hills. Its approximate height is 307m above sea level
In ancient times it was called the Mount of the Dryad Nymphs. During the Bronze Age there was a settlement on the top. There were also reports that a huge bronze statue of the god Apollo stood on top of the hill. During the Ottoman period it was called Dzhin Tepe (hill of the spirits), which gradually changed to Djendem Tepe. It also called Chigdem Tepe (hill of the crocus).
The hill has been declared a natural landmark. Youth Hill derives from the fact that youth labourers worked on paving the road up the hill (the road is made from concrete cubes pavement) during the communist era (1944-1989). They even built a swimming pool on top of the hill.
Today there is a meteorological camp on top of the hill as well as a large radio/TV/mobile-operator antennas cell-tower.
The road up the hill has been fitted with street-lighting and make a pleasant walk up in the evenings.

Welcome To Mr & Mrs B in Bulgaria :)

We decided to move to Bulgaria with a 2-year plan. Our plan (God willing) is to rent for 2 years whilst discovering Bulgaria and her surrounding neighbours. Once we have fully discovered Bulgaria and learnt her language, traditions, and cultures, we will buy our "Home" in an area where we feel comfortable.
