      Norman Woods compilation of his tips is a great companion to this, because he focuses on totally different things, more of a focus on fitness and form - jump, bend knees, back straight, stay centered, stay low etc. Imagining a place like Woodward with two teachers like you guys, it would be amazing...

    Such a long tradition of pros and rippers who are super good at skating yet terrible at trick tips. Tom you’re really filling a niche with trick tips that are actually helpful. I personally really enjoyed the bs wallride tip. I low key learned that on a steep bank a few summers back but had no idea my weight was supposed to be out. Look forward to more vids. If you haven’t done Ollie impossible or back 3 yet that’s be cool. If you learned to skate when pressure flips weren’t cool it’s a pain jn the ass to learn stuff that uses a pressure type set up.

    I discovered something strange. I do switch heelflips far better than regular. So I filmed myself trying both and realized that when doing switch heelflips, my flicking foot's ankle would roll super far over, like I stepped off a curb wrong and rolled my ankle, but it was subcoinscious. This would help maintain contact while sliding forward and you get way more pop. Tried it on a regula heelflip and realized that after 20 years skating, I just unlocked regular heelflips. 😂🎉

    • @AntilifeShell
      @AntilifeShell ปีที่แล้ว +1

      keep your weight evenly distributed between feet (maybe even slightly more on the back foot than usual, at least for me it's crucial, cause i tend to put more weight on the front foot usually), get enough speed and, as you're rolling off, kick the nose forward with your front foot (maybe forward and a bit down, kinda like a nollie). basically the same for fakie stance. if there's too much weight on one of my feet or i don't push the board forward hard enough, i start rotating and land sorta botched half-cab

    • @AntilifeShell
      @AntilifeShell ปีที่แล้ว +1

      and don't forget to keep your body weight and your head centered between the feet, your back as straight as you can, crouch down and bend your knees. with improper weight distribution you risk tipping over and falling, so it's best to try on a small curb first

    • @midnighttoker8663

    I've been skating for 3 years or so now and I have kickflips and 180s and shuvs down and there was a point at which I understood tre flips for about a week and then just lost the understanding of them somehow. Its like I can't figure out how to lean back far enough to get the scoop without losing balance and ultimately I end up falling off my board and the next Time I try it Im leaned to far forward slightly so my board goes behind me. Is this something to do with my legs not being strong enough for what the trick requires me to do? Or is my technique fundamentally flawed because I Have the power in my legs to pop high ollies and kickflips and shuvs but its just everything changes with tres for some reason

    • @toms_tutorials
      @toms_tutorials  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It definitely requires balance and a lot of strength in your knees to be able to squat down and put all that pressure on your tail. I would say balance is the most important part of doing treflips. Have you watched my treflip tutorial?

    Hey Tom do you skate loose, tight or medium trucks?

    • @toms_tutorials
      @toms_tutorials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say I skate medium trucks. Certain tricks are easier or harder depending on how tight/loose your trucks are. With loose trucks, it's harder for me to pop higher and to do bigspin tricks. With tight trucks, it can be harder to flick your board sometimes, so it depends on what you want to do. I like to do a variety of tricks so I skate them medium. Hope that helps 😁
