  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 16 มี.ค. 2016
  • A good friend of mine bought a 2016 Honda Accord Sport and i decided to make a video comparing both cars
    Both cars are mid size sedans, 2.4 and 2.5 Litre engines 4 Cylinder with less than 200 horsepower
    Both cars have a lot of features, driver's aids and technologies
    Here is a comparison video if you are thinking which one you should buy
    This will be a 2 part review, on this first one i'm focusing on the driving experience and performance, on the second one i'll be reviewing the interior features and technologies, driver's aids, google play and more.
    If you like the video please like, & Subscribe. I'm working on more car vlogs to be posted soon, there will trips, car spotting, impression videos of different cars and more.

    I'm glad I got the Mazda, just by the sound of how the transmission didn't change to the next gear on the accord I'd say, it almost made my ears bleed : )

    I have a 2016 Mazda 6 GT and my friend has the 2016 Honda Accord v6. Both cars are nice. I think the Honda feels like it has a little bit more room, feels heavier. The Mazda is more coupe-like sporty and you don't look like you borrowed your mom's car when you are seen in it.

    Great Review Yanni. I love my Mazda 6. It's just a better driving car than the 4 Cyl Accord. Don't get me wrong, The Accord is a nice car. I drove both, but the looks and driving engagement sold me on the 6.

    Good review . That CVT was so annoying . I’m in a market for a nice commuter car , and the 2016 Mazda 6 is at the top of my list .

    That CVT just kills the car for me. That last video I felt like I was robbed of the gear shift. I miss the sound. Also, in terms of driving dynamics, Mazda's are much more nimble and fun to drive than the Accords

      my accord has a 6 speed auto transmission. the only way to get it is to step up to a V6. i wouldn't want a cvt either.

    I just noticed that i got the numbers for the LX model by mistake for the Honda, thanks to you guys i added a note that i made a mistake, the numbers for the accord are a 189 bhp and 182 lb-ft of torque :) thanks for bringing this to my attention :)

    • @jesseatwater393
      @jesseatwater393 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, and was about to buy one until I got behind the wheel and was underwhelmed by the power and annoyed by what I feel is excessive road, wind and engine noise for a $38K sedan, top of the line with all the extras. A car approaching entry-level Lexus or Acura territory should have a more refined ride.
      I also hate that stupid cheap-looking pop-up plastic piece that gives you your HUD. They should either project it on the windshield, or if that's not an option or too expensive for some reason, just remove the feature, or at least allow the user to turn it off. (Actually you can turn off the display, but the ugly piece of plastic still pops up, which is why I don't like.)

    • @SYanni
      @SYanni  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +John Grabowski thanks for the comment. Btw Engineering explained tested the road noise and it's the same as the Audi S4. Not bad given that this is much lighter the window glass on this car is less than half the weight in the accord

    Steven Yanni is awesome!!! Thank you Steve for answering my comments and questions. You are one of the best car reviewer out there. Despite having a great channel, you know your cars very much. I think you know much more than Fast Car Lane and Redline Reviews, although I enjoy their videos too. You have lots of fans and many of them look for cars more than once, so I'd like to repeat something only you mentioned. The Mazda is not a CVT but is a six speed. That would put it in a better category in itself. I bought the accord because I got the Touring V6. If I didn't get a V6, I would have gotten the Mazda. But either way, I love both these cars. I lived my whole life not knowing anything about cars but now I love them. I love looking at them, watching these videos and writing about them. You do a great service to many people you correspond with and many that you don't. I am a Steven Yanni Fan!!!! Sincerely, John. (Paul Dwyer is only my screen name).

    How is the reliability and maintenance for the Mazda 6 compared to the Accord and other vehicles in the class? I have my eyes on the 6 but I really don't know long-term reliability. I currently have a 15 year old Accord with close to 210k miles and still going strong.

    That doesn't look like a Sport model, it looks like an EX, which I have, with Sport model wheels on it. The Sport model doesn't have push button ignition and the dual screen setup. Perhaps the Sport comes with more bells and whistles in Canada than in the States?

    You left the accord in economy mode during your performance test--of course, you will downgrade everything from throttle response to steering.

    • @SYanni
      @SYanni  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +V S it wasn't really a performance test. It was mainly showing how the CVT works cause a lot of people don't know the difference. It really wasn't about performance. Thanks for the notice though :)

    • @flowtrader99
      @flowtrader99 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +S-Yanni this comparison for driving is useless because you left the accord in Eco mode. Why have the Eco mode turned on for drive comparison does not make sense.

    • @zadeanrobinson1608

  • @A_guan
    @A_guan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Which is funner to drive but it also quieter and has the best "luxury" vibe or what makes you feel like your in a class higher this? I'm thinking of getting a v6 accord too so add that in consideration

    • @SYanni
      @SYanni  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Mazda drives better in terms of handling, it's not a quite ride and definitely bumpier, Also the engine is louder cause it has a timing chain not belt
      I suggest you test drive both before you decide, I got the Mazda cause it handles like a much smaller car, It's the miata of the mid size sedan

    If anyone's wondering, this is the 2016 Accord Sport Canadian version, hence Ontario license plate.
    The Canadian Sport version has keyless entry, push button start, moonroof, touch screen display (plus android auto/apple car play), blind spot display and other features that is included over the US model which has none of those things. Yay for Canadians!

    • @SYanni
      @SYanni  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Aquabeta wow. Interesting to know that the us version doesn't have all that. This is in fact the sport. But all the driver's aids (blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assistant, adaptive cruise control) are all in a package called Honda sensing.
      This car has all that stuff, stay tuned the next video will be about that stuff and the infotainment systems.
      Thanks for the comment :)

    • @Aquabeta
      @Aquabeta 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the Honda sensing is another package. I meant to say the base Sport model has the lanewatch display - the camera located on the right side mirror.
      Anyways I'm sure if anyone's interested in the Honda accord sport, the majority of the review videos you find on youtube are made by Americans. You just have to skip to the part where they review the interior and you'll see the difference.

  • @sbk4me
    @sbk4me 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm sorry but you may have more of your information incorrect. I may have missed it in your video but the accord does have sport shift which does utilize the 7 speed transmission more like a regular transmission. Be great if you could verify your facts and run the car in sport mode for better stats and perhaps results also. Thanks anyhow.

    • @SYanni
      @SYanni  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Adrian Brown thanks man. I know that but this is a simulated gear change. I mainly wanted to showcase how CVTs accelerate in general. This was not about 0-60 time, it was mainly the feel of the CVT
      A simulated computerized gear change doesnt change the fact that there are no gears to change
      Thanks for your comment :)

    Hi, how is the road/wind noise of that car? I hear it's kinda noisy compare to other cars of its class. Is it really that bad? 2017 model should come out by next month already, according to what I read that the noise inside should be better with the new one coming. I'm thinking of getting this car, it's going to be my first Mazda brand, good reliability?

    Your last test drive to the accord , I just notices the paddle shift you don't shifting. Because you own the mazda. The the mazda win.

    • @SYanni
      @SYanni  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +arturo panganiban I'm not shifting cause there are no gears in the Accord this is what the CVT transmission is, and because the paddles only change ratios to the same gear I thought I would let it do its thing to settle itself on a specific ratio and get the maximum torque and speed out of it
      Read more about CVT transmissions because there are no gears to shift in the first place, I was not biased at all in the video :)

    Nice review but I cannot believe you didn't mention the most obvious visual difference between those 2 cars. Although both cars come with 19" wheels and tires, the Honda package looks much better mainly because the tires are wider. I don't know why Mazda put those skinny 225' tires on the car. They look ridiculous on a car this big.

    • @SYanni

    i'll stick with the accord. mazdas have chronic reliability problems with the engines and powertrains. the accord is vastly superior both in reliability and in looks too if you ask me.

      +shotgunfacelift355 accords are bullet proof. I usually flip my cars before warranties expire and they now offer unlimited milage warranty so I'm not worried.

    • @shervinr420

      Mazda retains its value well and is far more reliable than you give it credit. Mazda hasn't dealt with Ford for years and their vehicles no longer share parts/engines/transmissions. All you see in Mazdas are developed in Japan. If you're lucky to get a made in Japan vehicle where you are, you will not have reliability issues.

      Had a 2001 Accord years ago, after two transmission replacements, I sold it! So each auto manufacture sometimes struggle with various reliability issues, it's just the nature of engineering. Both Honda & Mazda build decent models, some models are safer & more reliable than others. (2016 Mazda 6 GT & 2016 Nissan Maxima Platinum Owner}

      As mentioned in one of the comments, the 01 model accord had serious transmission issues. My friend had hers replaced twice and is about to need a third. Mazda nowadays are much more reliable, just as the Accord is much more reliable.

    Hello Friends. I have post car buying anxiety for I like both cars. For a four cylinder, I'd get the six but I needed reliability above everything. The GT was only a couple grand below the tie breaker. Reliability was my first buy, so I got the accord touring V6. Yes, I miss the things I liked about the six but spec for spec, I think the accord won, only if you get the V6 touring. Any thoughts?

    • @SYanni
      @SYanni  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Paul Dwyer yes the accord is a great car. The V6 puts it in a very competitive position with the M6. The Mazda for me won for the interior quality and the design of both the interior and exterior. I wish it was a V6 as well. I didn't really care for reliability as I will be selling the car within 4 years of buying it anyways

    Thank you S Yanni for the Reply. I watched lots of your videos and I enjoy them very much. My car is black on black. Do you think I need a pin stripe? Anyway, I have to keep my car for fifteen years minimum, and that's why I got the accord. I also heard the V6 lasts longer. I think for interior, some things need to be taken in consideration. I think if you want a white two tone, the Mazda wins. However, I think for black interior, the accord at least ties it. White is harder to clean. The mazda interior is great but the high level accord is nice too. I had to take out money from the bank to pay for my down payment. My car is my only means to get to work and that's why I needed reliability over all.

    blah blah blah about the CVT. Honda's CVT is the best in the biz. Little sluggish of the line but honda's engine does have a powerband which does give it that gear shift sensation. You just have to learn how to drive it you wanna drive like Mario Andretti. It also has the sport mode with panel shifters Mario. The Canadian honda accord sport is the best bang for the buck sedan in it's class. Mazda6 GT is really nice and everyone points to the driving dynamics of it but overall the Accord is just a solid car.

    • @SYanni
      @SYanni  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2
