A wonderful discovery: both the version for piano solo as the pianist himself. His performance and wonderful cantabile speak directly to us, "from soul to soul" so to speak. And what a beautiful sound the Steinway grand pianos (an Bösendorfer as well) produce. This version by Herbert Schuch is so soothing, medicine for the soul.
The melody is SO clearly Bach! I have never heard it before and I never heard of Bauer as an arranger. Thank you for this sublime, sensitive playing, Herbert Schuch!🤩

You are doing a great job! I came to know this piece thru Angela Hewitt's recording, and it is amazing to compare the arrangement with the original. As she points out, the harmonies which surprises the most are not modern additions, but pure Bach. Fascinating!

So remarkable. The amazing harmonies Bach wrote predate Rachmanimov by nearly 150 years. Clear and concise playing, beautifully played and voiced. A difficult transcription that flows so evenly from your fingers. Wonderful playing.
This is my first introduction to this beautiful piece, in a time in my life when I am truly exploring what it means to rest in God while also slowly relearning my German ... so to be able to see and read this title and then hear this music ... truly a Godsend, and lets me know that that indeed my soul is safe, resting in God's hand.
