    Hi John. Super awesome cards. I am glad you shared them with us especially the 1940 playball. I am collecting that set and its jam packed with great players, and they look even better in the SGC slabs. Have a great week.

      That seems like an awesome set to collect -- good luck as you continue to build it! And I agree 100% -- the SGC B&W look combined with the Play Ball '40... (chef's kiss). Thanks for the comment!

    Great return John! Love the Stengel and Campy card wow those look sweet! Glad you decided to submit that 58 Mathews, great looking card and a very nice grade! Congrats on the 69 Clemente that is a sneaky tough card to get a high grade on! Well done, really enjoyed it!

      Hey, thanks Steve! The Mathews was a surprise -- again centering gets rewarded (at least that's my take). Good color I think also gets rewarded, in the cases of Campy and Gibson in particular. The 6 on Clemente was a really good result for sure. Glad you liked the video!

    Like given! Nice cards, love the Clemente's. I am a little partial being a Pirates fan...lol Love them all and the Campy is great as well. Enjoyed the watch, thanks for sharing. 👍👍 until next time, have a great day John ✌out

      Thanks, Andy! Pirates black and gold can look downright dapper in the SGC tux. Glad you enjoyed the reveal.

      @@jpcards You're welcome John and they sure do look good in those tuxes. Unfortunately as good as they do look in the tux, I have PSA slabs in my collection and I like everything to match. I know, weird. But if I was to start over again, I would probably go SGC. Only thing I don't like about them is the ginormous number grade on the slab. Other than that, they're simply marvelous as Billy Crystal would say...lol Thanks for the reply and have a great week 👍

    Nice returns, John! I’m hoping to add one of the '50s Bowman Stengel cards to my collection. As a Yankees fan, that’s a gap I need to fill, and you’ve got a beauty there. That Minnie is pack-fresh perfection-who needs centering when the card is that sharp? We all appreciate different aspects of our collections, but I love having some cards that look like a kid just pulled them out of a pack. It takes you back in time, just like a card with some wear and tear does. It’s amazing to think cards like that still exist. Then there’s your 1961 Clemente, which looks like it was cherished by a young Pirates fan. My overall favorite, though, has to be the Wynn-it’s a striking photo with Chief Wahoo prominently displayed. Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks, Terry! I really like having Casey's name on the front, which is why I gravitated toward the '51. And yes, on that particular day when I bought a half-dozen or so '59s, including Minoso, it was as if I was buying a pack of cards without the wrapper, they were that good, even if most were off-center. The corners on all of them were great. And yet at the same time, as you allude to, I pretty much want the wear and tear on '50s and earlier -- well loved carries meaning and a different kind of value to me as a collector. Then again, whoever had the Wynn in a scrapbook back in the day must've loved that card as well - I could not pass up that card for $10!

    Some great cards but the Willie Mays card with the big crease and ink on back was too beat up for grading. The 61 Clementa also too worn for grading.

    • @jpcards
      @jpcards  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment -- I do appreciate it. About the Mays, I should've mentioned that one reason I decided to slab it was purely for protection. The crease is severe enough and the paper stock weak enough in that spot that I was afraid it could tear at some point.
