Abdullah is not only a singer/writer/composer/music arranger/producer but he’s also the right hand of Xulfi, who produced this entire season 14 and made it what it turned out to be….an awesome season 👏 Abdullah doesn’t get much recognition there but you will notice his hand behind every song of this season esp if you check out credits. He’s an amazing artist.

We as Pakistanis are so used to intermixing languages. It comes naturally to us. And it’s just not two languages, we can intermix 3-4 easily. It’s the way we speak at home as well. Bring in Punjabi, Pushto, English and Urdu of course. This song is a representation of the youth and what a lovely message it carries through it. Loved your take on it and enjoyed your reactions a lot over the course of the season. One more song to go and that will have the incredible Faisal Kapdia (Strings fame) and Young Stunners 🤘
Yes and even I started noticing that in daily life I am inter mixing 4 languages Urdu ,English ,hindko and Punjabi .ot come natural to us

Hi Jodi, I also interpret it in the way you mentioned. I'm a Pakistani so I understand the whole song. I have had struggles with depression and stuff. And I feel it as a struggle with your emotions. After a couple of cycles you do see patterns in your scars and you know that you are strong enough. But you return to that 'low' place many times again and again but you've got to tell yourself to not be afraid and that you aren't weak coz you've been there before and you were able to push through. I see it as a motivational song for people who are sensitive and sometimes struggle to break through the emotional cycles.

Abdullah Siddiqui is an uber-talented artist. He does everything that goes into creating music. You should check his other work as well.
Yes the song is saying show up and keep going but in the context of a sensitive and overwhelmed person who suffers anxiety and is constantly second guessing him/her self...even afraid of oneself as alluded to in the line "saans le khud se hi na darr tu" (breathe, don't be afraid of yourself). Anyway, I didn't feel this song at first but it has grown on me quite a bit. I was aware of Abdullah's production and composition work but this was the first time I heard him sing. I think he did a great job given the pressure he must have felt performing with someone of Atif's stature on his Coke Studio debut.
I think the word Jodi was looking for may be "electro-pop" or "hyper-pop"...?

I got side tracked and didn’t finish my previous comment. Sorry! I teach early teens. They are from all over the world and recognize right away that it is a different language. One student even asked if it was Coke Studio again lol (I didn’t have the video showing). So far no one has said they know the language.
You have to watch Resistance by Abdullah Siddiqui! If you’re trying to classify the genre, it’s really difficult due to the intricate fusion of the song - I think it’s best seen as alternative

You should (Must) try, Abdullah Sidiqui's 'Resistance' .
Abdullah first came to mainstream, atleast for me, since last nescafe basement season (Song: Resistance). Guess what, the show was produced (music) by Xulfi too. Nevertheless, since then Abdullah has released few music videos and songs, where he has shown tremendous talent not only as a singer, composer, writer but also as a producer, thus in production team alongside Xulfi.
Tbh, Xulfi deserves alot of credit; not only this show, but in general as far as Pakistani music industry goes. He has singlehandedly produced two great seasons, one was last nescafe basement and now this. Kudos to him!
BTW great job Boring Reviews fam👍 Watched all reactions on coke studio, they are among the most meaningful ones; precise, honest, positive criticism (if any), and structured.
In hindsight, I think coke studio might be listening to you guys too, they are sharing more and more song snippets in magical journey episodes since you asked. 😂
