OLD SCHOOL TURKEY POT PIE(COOKED 2 WAYS) Another Way To Use Up That Leftover Thanksgiving Turkey 🦃

- This is another simple way to use up that left over thanksgiving turkey
Its an awesome comfort dish on a chilly fall or winter night
Recipe
2# of cooked picked turkey meat
1 cup chopped onions
1 cup chopped celery
2 cups heavy cream
8 oz. frozen peas and carrots
1 sheet puff pastry
boil celery and onions
In 1 quart of water (or chicken stock)
Add cream to chicken stock celery and onions and cook for 10 minutes
Thickened with 1/2 cup roux( flour and butter mixture)
Add peas and carrots
season to taste with salt and pepper
Add picked turkey to baking dish
Pour filling over turkey
Cover with puff pastry
Brush with egg wash
Cook in 375 degree oven for 20-30 minutes

As always your recipe was spot on. I enjoy mostly all of your recipes. I made this today i sauted my carrots & celery and some diced potatoes. I only had puff pastry, i wanted a bottom crust so I browned the bottom layer 1st then poured my mixture and added my top layer. It turned out amazing🥰

I have never used frozen puff pastry. i saw some dessert ideas on You tube and bought frozen Phyllo. sheets by mistake. What a terrible mess trying to work with those paper thin sheets, So bought 2 pkgs of puff pastry, and now I i want to do turkey pie with puff pastry, but i am wondering if the pastry gets soggy when the gravy bakes up over the top.or is it still a little crisp under the gravy? Your pies both look SO appetizing and delicious, better than the full Thangsgiving dinner! I like the comment one viewer left about using pie dough on the bottom and puff pastry on top. Yum yum. You are so right about store bought pot pies. they taste ok but there is not enough filling or gravy inside., it is freezing cold outside and gets dark too early, we need a big pan of turkey pot pie tomight.❤from NW WA🌲
