So happy you did a Smokie Norful song. I've been listening to him to learn riffs before ever finding out about your channel. Amazing!
addicted to these my oh my
Lol I love how in the beginning she said that the riff was "sexy," but the riff says "god is able" XD
you find the best riffs from my fave artists
OMG you HAVE to do lauryn hills riff from "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" in Sister Act! XD
That moment when his lower octave is my upper octave : /

Oh my god.. I just melt with her voice.. I have the biggest girl crush on her when she sings 😍
I was so frustrated trying to do fast riffs and runs and I really thought that that there was no hope! I have been hitting a glass ceiling for years with my runs. Thank you for putting this series together. It goes into depth with what I already do and helps bring me confidence with intimidating riffs and runs😍
I'm from Brazil and I love your videos Natalie! Do not stop doing your videos. kisses
natalie you're awesome. crazy vocal skills and good teaching skills as well .just inspiring and a pleasure to watch
This is awesome! These really challenge my vocal agility!

I've always wanted to be able to riff and these are helping, but I have to watch them soooo many times. Even then they're not very good haha but I'll keep trying :)
Thankssss!!! I did it!!! and Nathan is HOTT!!! lol
This is so great! Are you still on tour with Les Mis? If so, you should totally get that cute oboist in the orchestra to come sing with you! ;)
since you like gospel riffs look up Kim Burrell. find the hardest one and try to break it down!
I can't remember my comment, so I will just say two words to sum up your riffs videos: FUCKING AMAZEBALLS!! Keep the videos coming!
YES!!!!!
...... IS THIS THE GREATEST SHOW EVER? i think so.
Your guest riffed sounded A M A Z I N G. I love your riff videos. I would like to recommend a riff that is quite complex that I have been trying to do for 10 years but my ear is not fast enough pick the counts. Guy Sebastian - Angels Brought Me Here 3:09-3:26. Perfection but I can't quite get the riff count. It's a beautiful song. Please listen to it & maybe you'll video it?
Watching it again for shits & giggles. He sounds amazing when he masters the riff
YESSS.
I want to do a riffing video with you!!! Episode 7!! :)
It was Smokie norful-God is able rigth?, I completely love it!! :* :* :* kisses
The lower octave is too low for me and i literally can't do the transposition because i don't have those note in my range.
Would you explain Shoshana Bean's Ahh riff from her last defying gravity??
lol Had no idea you went to PSU!
This is so much better then watching her on idol : )
thanks !!!
youre the bomb.com thanks for these
How about Whitney Houston: Why does it hurt so bad 3:42-3:49 (the one where she's performing on stage in all white)
Or
Mariah Carey: Whenever you call 2:57-3:03
Yes! Brandy's his eye is on the sparrow
Thanks Natalie! Riff Request (or what I deem as Riffquest): Jessie J Momma knows best youtube vid with her laptop "like a storm in the 'SKY ooo yeah'" maybe combine it with another like alicia keys fallin and a beyonce riff or something. haha i keep hearing jessie's riff though and keep hearing multiple notes that I'm missing. haha
Hey Natalie, Could you break down the riff's in Celine Dion's - Because you loved me, please? I know it's not Musical Theatre - Would love to give them ago.
Dear Natalie Weiss please Break Down the last riff in Monica's Before You Walk out My Life
Wow he's good
SHE PLAYED QUEENIE?!?!? OMG PLEASE LET THERE BE VIDEOS OF THAT
i wanted to hear the lauryn hill riff...
Hey you're videos help like major! but is there any chance you could give away some riffing technique? and just basically how to riff that would be greatly apreciated! :))
This one's tricky!!!
OMG - he is so cute!!!
It would be awesome if you could do the riff that Lauryn Hill does in Killing Me Softly at 3:19
@4:10
Kick ass! Wow! Lol
please and thank you.
I wonder if you could do a Fred Hammond song..
Can you please do Stained by Tori kelly!!
In loooove with your vocal versatility and I'd love to hear more! Please please please do a tutorial on Jessie J's riff at 2:58 in her youtube video of "At Last". This is the URL to her cover (you have to put the standard "youtube" URL in front of it): /watch?v=nqCM5qckTQI
Could you do usher's "u remind me" riff @ 2:15.......please
"We fell in love and now we're gonna riff"
I'd friggin' die if you broke down the riff between 1:15 and 1:20 on Janelle Monáe's "Neon Valley Street". It's simply insane. I count somewhere near 22-25 notes and can't get enough of it, but it moves too fast for me to dissect it. Help, oh wise one.
Conor Tubbs I concur!
OMG i wish i could sing like you!!!! -__- :P can you break down the riffs in "quiet" by jonathan reid gealt? :) xxx
Do Elle Varner's Refill!
Brandys version of his eyes on the sparrow
riff#1 1:19
riff#2 1:36
please... and thanks you :)
God is right. Holy crap, that riff was delicious.
th-cam.com/video/huVeOl9Jl8E/w-d-xo.html
the "for the first time" riff at 3:24!
What happened to the Lauryn Hill riff
You've sang with the vocal beast that is Scott Hoying before so I am hoping you can break down 2:48 from: Scott Hoying -"Down" (/watch?v=_vd182rMGXk)
WHERE THE FUCK WAS THE LAURYN HILL RIFT/RUN????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg I don't even like white people like that but the universe is using this girl to change my mind I abs. adore her and she's white so that means there's absolutely no reason to be racist :O I know this comment sounds crazy people but I just had many epiphonies fromfrom watching her!!!
IM STILL WAITING FOR KIM BURRELL!!!
You should do Tori Kelly's rift in PYT!!!!!
@ 4:19 wow your voice.
HE LOOKS LIKE JIM PARSONS A BIT :O
P.Y.T by tori kelly 2:22 riff! wouldn't let me post the link:/ VOTE UP SO SHE CAN SEE
Alicia keys fallin please!!! :D THE intro
I applaud your efforts and diligence in rehearsing the notes already performed by these gifted artists. But this is mimicry at its best. When an artist can implement a run "riff" at the birth of the creative process or improv in studio or on stage lyrically and melodiously NOT mechanically, then the art is true and genuine! These videos are very flattering. Great job!
Mimicry is how we all learn. Shakespeare had to learn English by mimicking others at home and school before he could write down a single word. These examples simply act as fun exercises to introduce students to riffing (I imagine said gifted artists would have used similar exercises when learning this same process). Once they are confident that they have the technique down then they can go and write/improv their own and perform them more easily for having watched these videos. Whilst your applause is probably appreciated, I doubt the rest of your comment is. It comes across a little self-righteous and more than a little unnecessary.
i don't know why i heard "god is evil" what the actual heck
