Hi Dottie, thanks so much! I would say that it is always best to paint from watercolor paintings,... and in many cases I am doing that myself. So in essence you are seeing the photo :0)
Well, I’ve just discovered another style. I’m very impressed with your skills in colour selection. Thank you. I will keep watching your work and try to emulate some of them.
New subbie here. Thank you for talking through your process. I love the fact that you let your viewers know what colors you're using as you mix your paints.
Hi G Ray, your very welcome and thanks for your compliments my friend! Yes, I'm always trying to talk through things so everyone will be able to incorporate what they like into there routine easier. Happy Painting!
Thanks Ruth, I really enjoy teaching on TH-cam, it's something I will always want to do! I appreciate your watching and your kind comments! Happy Painting! ;0)
Wow, WC and Ink are my favorite! Question: can you please mention the size of paper you are using in relation to a brush I should use with whatever size I'm using. And what is the difference between a wash and a glaze? thanks, Mel
Your process of ink & wash is amazing... I love to draw buildings!!! Can you pleaaaaase post more videos of the ink & wash process in your channel??? Thanks a million.
Hi Ramin, your very welcome and thanks for kind words, it means a lot to me! I sure sill do more ink and washes,... I will do another this weekend coming up! Happy Painting!
@@cpetri766 no matter how many mediums I try, I always come back to LOVING watercolor! We retired 3 yrs ago to East Texas, The Piney Woods and there are so many beautiful scenes. Thanks again for your tutorials! I hope I never stop learning!
Hi Chris. Beautiful work! Subscribed. I've mostly been doing my watercolors with pan paints and not tubed. Love the intensity you get with the moist paint. Although I've read that my favorite watercolorists, Homer, Sargent, used pan paints as well, I'm considering trying the tubes. But I'd imagine it would get quite expensive using them in this fashion. I also like using acrylic paint in a more water color style. Your technique reminds of that a lot. Have you tried that? Thanks!
Thanks Andy, much appreciated! I don’t use acrylic paints much, Tube paint Makes it easy to get great color and tone! If you can get the good color you are looking for with pan paint then you are good to go👍😎
Thanks Sandy I don’t really paint with acrylics too much however I have tried them and they are fun. I also think using pan paint can work for you if you get the color you want. 👍😎
Chris after you complete appointing, to keep your colors in the palette from drying out do you spray and then place a paper towel over paint before closing the lid, also I keep using too much water . Help! Thank you for your videos.
Great tutorial! I have not used a bamboo pen for ink and was wondering how those worked in actual use with ink. They make some nice dry marks. I am curious about what book you were using for the reference photo.
Hi Paul, your welcome and thanks! I try not mention books I use in my videos since it could cause copyright issues. Many books specific to watercolor I sought out and purchased were from Charles Reid's bibliographies in all of his his teaching books. Keep up the great work and Happy Painting!
Hi John, your very welcome! Sure, I think any permanent pens will work really well! I usually make note for myself if a certain brand or type does not work well,..eg.. smudge and smear with water etc.... Thanks for watching!
Great video Chris. Must apologise, I sent a Xmas card today but it seems I’ve missed the postage date for the USA so it’ll probably turn up late. I was waiting for them to come back from the printers. Anyway Merry Christmas.
nice painting c personaly i would have went just a tad lighter on some of shadows maybe dilute with just i tiny bit with some water any who it is still a aweet painting i esecialy like the way you did the trees side nrush action not to much just right
