So I’ve had a set of Rockmonsters for about 3 years on 35” KM3. I painted mine from day one, those locking nuts never came lose even on painted surfaces. They held air, never had any air leaks. I just received a set of 38x13.5x17 Trail Grapplers from Northridge along with these exact Apex air valves. I think I will position the beadlock/split wheel studs so one of the three longer ones is right next to the air valve. I’m assuming that the Apex valve will not flex like a regular rubber valve if drug along a rock. The Apex look like they stick out quite a bit so hopefully the longer stud will offer some protection.
The only thing is after my last rotation I can't get the the tpms to work properly it's not reading it so I turned it off with the taser minnie haha no lights

Yes, they do and they do it well. They are very stiff and hold the both the inner and outer beads tight. Hutchinson has been doing wheels like these for many years, not only for the recreational crowd, but also commercial and military too.
Man those are nice! I have Hutchinson’s on my LMTV, and would love them on my Jeep. Can you balance this combo using balance beads inside the tire? I like the DYI aspect of these rims
I have these wheels, love them! Do you have any recommendations for the positioning of the inner bead lock band with TPMS in reference to the outer wheel valve stem for balancing?
@@romandevengenzo4267 I have run Rock Monsters for 5 years and have plenty of rock rash on the outer rims but nothing has ever hit the plastic caps. For one thing you can air WAY down and that leaves a lot of room between the sidewall and the cap. Thee are fabulous wheels. Highly recommended.
@@northridgenation ok thank you, I’m working on some Hutchinson border patrol wheels as we speak..was wondering why it didn’t pop like my normal headlocks.
I have seen another video on the same topic as the same brand of tire, as the line of tires, so I'm PRESUMING that it be possible to mount the larger tire that measures, 42x13.50, will this tire fit this wheel,
Was there any issue with turning, was there any rubbing with turning the steering wheel all the way to one side, also were spacers used? And what lug nuts are recommend
Yes, on our Sport model we have some rubbing at full lock on the lower controls arms. You can fix it with a set of spacers or a wider axle. The Rubicon and Maxx Tow axles are 2" wider, so you'd have no problem if you have either of those.
Unfortunately they do not currently have any wheels with the 5x150mm pattern except in their commercial and military lines and those are very expensive.
We reached out to Hutchinson for an answer, they said they've heard of people using other media, but they do not recommend anything other than traditional style stick-on weights.
Yes, models with the high flare like Rubicon and Mojave need 2.5" lift minimum. Standard flare models need 3" to 4" of lift. We installed a Rock Krawler suspension on that JT: th-cam.com/video/tJuYl12hVr8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mzyIi0-phSVKNGRk The RK 3" kit: www.northridge4x4.com/part/3-3-5in-lifts/jt30px-rock-krawler-3in-pro-x-suspension-system
Yes, Hutchinson does have Beadlocks with the 6x5.5 Toyota pattern for your 4Runner. We don't have them listed on our site, so email or call in and we can help you out.
The instructions from Hutchinson do not call for grease on the o-ring. I assembled mine dry with no issues. I don't know if I like the idea of a greasy o-ring collecting dust and dirt in a field repair.
Correct you do not need to use any sort of lube on the O-ring. We do it to make sure the o-ring stays in the groove as the wheel halves are going together and to make the o-ring easy to remove if we do need to disassemble the wheel.
That typically means it is the lightest point on the tire and you typically want to line the dot up with your valve stem. BUT, that is not always the case.

Is nit is Nitto tires made in the USA though? I only buy tires made in the USA. Apparently some are made in USA, Japan, and china. And that’s an issue for me. Means that some profit dollars are heading out of country. No thank you.
BFG, Cooper and Mickey Thompson tires are still made in the USA. Cooper and Mickey Thompson are owned by Goodyear tires, an American company. However, BFG is owned by Michelin Tires, which is a French company. For Cooper tires: www.northridge4x4.com/brand/cooper-tires For Mickey Thompson tires: www.northridge4x4.com/brand/mickey-thompson

That is a good idea. The Apex valves are a little vulnerable on the Hutchinson Rock Monsters.
Locked inside and out! Now that's cool.
Love this tire package! Great video!! Love northridge!!😎👊
Very nice! I think I just found the next set of wheels that I’m going to get for my new JLUR.
Good choice, we love 'em.
I bought my Rock Monsters from you last year. Loving them so far. They are heavy, but they work great.
Weight def seems to be the only downside.
I have the same on my wish list in 5x5.5 for the Ram
I have had a set on my Glad for almost two years now. I would really like to see a video on a tire change?
We'll shoot that next time we need to do a tire change.
That yellow dot is where you should put the air valve for best balance, I wonder why no one does this?

Can us local folks stop by to see these 2 amazing giveaway vehicles in person??
Most definitely! C'mon in, say hi and check them out. 😎

Those are bad ass.
Does the rubber center piece really provide that much compression on the bead? Seems sort of gimmicky.
Yes, they do and they do it well. They are very stiff and hold the both the inner and outer beads tight. Hutchinson has been doing wheels like these for many years, not only for the recreational crowd, but also commercial and military too.
i was planning on sticking with the factory wheels, but I think I just changed my mind. hahaha
Does that rubber inner and seals wear out after awhile? Not a big deal because those rare super cool.
I’ve been running these rims since 2014 with no issues...
No, they don't move, so no wear to them. We do recommend replacing the o-ring when you each time you wear out a set of tires and replace them.
Man those are nice! I have Hutchinson’s on my LMTV, and would love them on my Jeep. Can you balance this combo using balance beads inside the tire? I like the DYI aspect of these rims
you could, though we'd recommend staying with stick on lead weights.
I’d be worried about the balance beads falling through the air channel hole and getting stuck inside the inner bead band and wheel.
I have these wheels, love them! Do you have any recommendations for the positioning of the inner bead lock band with TPMS in reference to the outer wheel valve stem for balancing?
Nice!
A wheel that's definitely battle- proven but just don't like the expose bolt threads and nuts to get clipped on rocks
That's what the plastic caps are for.
I think a rock could win vs the plastic nuts, but I haven’t seen it tested...valve stem was sticking out pretty far too 😕
@@romandevengenzo4267 I have run Rock Monsters for 5 years and have plenty of rock rash on the outer rims but nothing has ever hit the plastic caps. For one thing you can air WAY down and that leaves a lot of room between the sidewall and the cap. Thee are fabulous wheels. Highly recommended.
Yeah I’ve had them for about 3 years now. I’m pretty careless when I wheel, so I have lots of gouges on the rim, I’ve never made contact on the bolts.
Do the beads have to pop and seat when airing it up?
No, the bead is already seated by the time you have the wheel halves bolted together.

Does Hutchenson make a set for 14-19 tundra? 5 x .150 bolt pattern. 18x9 would be perfect.
Unfortunately they do not currently have any wheels with the 5x150mm pattern except in their commercial and military lines and those are very expensive.
Nice. How much do the weigh
35.6lbs for the wheels in this video.
Does Hutchinson allow for the use of bead balancing balls inside the tire or can you put water in the tire like I have done in the past is this ok?
We reached out to Hutchinson for an answer, they said they've heard of people using other media, but they do not recommend anything other than traditional style stick-on weights.
Did you need to lift the Gladiator for the 37x12.50?
Yes, models with the high flare like Rubicon and Mojave need 2.5" lift minimum. Standard flare models need 3" to 4" of lift.

How heavy are those wheels? I don't mean a packaged wheels (box and all).
Looks great. How well does the Hutchinson balance?
They balance great. With the 37" Nittos they all came in around 3.5 oz or less to balance the full assembly.
👍
Very cool looking wheel.Safe for a daily driver? Maximum safe speed ?
Yes, very heavy duty, very safe at highway speeds and bombing down the two-track off-road.
Maximum safe speed would be what your tires are rated for.
When you air down does the tps sensor get crushed
No.

What does the yellow dot on the tire mean?
That typically means it is the lightest point on the tire and you typically want to line the dot up with your valve stem. BUT, that is not always the case.
@@northridgenation With the weight of that bracket, stock valve stem, and tpms sensor, shouldn't that position line up with the yellow dot?
👍👍
What TPMS sensors are used in video?
The factory Mopar sensors.
Where are the wheels manufactured?
Final manufacturing and assembly is done in Trenton, NJ.
Can you put 42x13.50 on this wheel
Yes, but that's the widest you'd want to go on an 8.5"
Awesome setup how much h do they weigh though 😂
44 lbs per wheel.
I have them on my jl and yes they are bad ass so I sold my truck and now I'm going to win the gladiator lol 😆and I have jokes
