    Those transitions from camera to screen capture are buttery smooth. 10/10.

    After manually editing the eprom boot order to sd>usb>nvme if I put in an sd or usb with no os imager comes up on boot, takes longer to boot from nvme as it checks sd and usb first but handy for testing other OS's as I don't need to remove the nvme first

    You will have to trust that they haven't stuck any malware on the Raspberry Pi OS that comes pre-installed on their NVME drive. My advice would be to wipe the drive and install it again from official source.

      Ultimately you have to decide for yourself how much trust you put into that pre-installed OS.
      Me personally, I only run Gentoo Linux builds that I made myself, so I would just wipe it anyway - but each to his own.

    My pi5 does offer network boot. "Latest" bootloader. It does not, however, allow kali to run; in my case, i suspect the distro doesn't support having nvme connected, even though I'm booting from SD or USB.

      Try Pinn os. Kali is listed for Pi 5. Might be a workaround

      @@leepspvideo Will do, @leepspvideo, I have a 52pi bottom hat, the only thing I haven't tried beyond that is completely removing it. I have unplugged it's nvme, but it still has gpio pogo pins. All other os's boot fine, from all three interfaces. Thanks!👍

      @@w13rdguy If you're running Kali Linux then you're presumably going to do some network analysis - so just stick it on a VM on a PC, that will work just fine.

    If they need a preinstall of RPI, RPI probably isn't for those people. You will soon need/want to reinstall so not sure what the point of these are...

      Once you have an os on a pi you can write another one to usb or sd card. Once you have that you may no longer need another computer. Some people have just a Pi and a Mobile phone

    In general - like the ssd idea in raspberry pi, but ... current setup with "hat on top" form-factor is not a good one. You'll have to compromise on cooling. Whichever fan or passive system one chooses, this ssd sits on top. It is actually blocking cooling. Hope that some day Raspberry pi Foundation will come up with better solutions. And one more thing: these Makerdisks cost as much as Raspberry pi itself. Which is 10x more than comparable SD cards.

    • @leepspvideo
      @leepspvideo  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Sd cards are nowhere near comparable on speed or durability. They are however a good cheap option for things that don’t need the extra speed

      The Pimoroni NVME base is a nice option.
      It goes under the pi 5, active cooler in the usual location.
      I have one in my Plex server in a 3D printed case.

      @@samoylov1973 I haven’t had an issue with the setup shown. The NVME board has many holes and the official cooler/ heatsink. That said I’m about to try some more overclocking. My next video will show a bottom mounted nvme with ice tower cooler setup.

    so jelly of you getting free stuff all the time.

    • @terrydaktyllus1320
      @terrydaktyllus1320 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not "free stuff" because he puts in a lot of time and effort to make video content to attract a big enough audience such that vendors send him stuff to review - and good luck to him on that.
      But it's only "free" if you place no monetary value on your time (which I am sure he does) because if he didn't put in time to make content, he wouldn't be sent the stuff in the first place.

    Can we use Apple MAC power adapter for Raspberry PI 5

    • @terrydaktyllus1320
      @terrydaktyllus1320 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The USB 3.0 standard can provide up to 20 volts at 3 amps, the Raspberry Pi 5 probably maxes out at around 2 amps at 5 volts.
      Even though Apple gets their hardware made in China just like every other company (but charges a premium price for it and hates your privacy) a MAC power adapter should work fine.
      However, care should be taken when using unbranded USB 3.0 adapters.

    So the title is basically a clickbait. You NEED a computer if you don't have some special fancy nvme instead of one I want to buy.

    • @leepspvideo
      @leepspvideo  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s not clickbait. You need storage to use a Raspberry Pi. Makerdisk have sd card, 2.5” SSD and NVMe drives pre installed with Raspberry Pi OS. Hence the “setup without a computer”
      Since this video an eeprom update now gives a network install option which also doesn’t need a computer
