Tool Army checking in. 46&2. Lateralus. You’ve got some songs down. But there isn’t a song that’s not worth breaking down. Spiral out in your discovery. We’re here for it.
There's nothing wrong with your headphones, Maynard's vocals are often set back in the mix, especially early on in a lot of their songs. When they do this, it's in order to treat the vocals as an accompaniment to the other instruments, or overall music, instead of the instruments providing a backdrop for the vocals. It throws a lot of newer listeners off at first, but I think it's a wonderful way to mix the voice, and of course they do it very well, in just the right places.
Tool is a deeply spiritual band, very very knowledgable of the many of the Spiritual Traditional Languages of Correspondences. This song is about the tranference between Unity and Duality. Split the Divine Right in Two. These guys are learned in most of it, and as we like to say "In the Know", but you have to break out of the systematic, organized parts of Spirituality to find your Core. Has to do with the DNA sequences.
Subbed! Definitely checknout more tool, their whole discography is amazing. One really good one is a 2 parter. Called wings for marie, and 10,000 days part 2. Great stuff, especially the lyrucs!
After you get hooked (which you have) the best experience is to go all the way back as there are only 5 albums with some inserted live vids that each have their own theme/point of view. It's a great evolution of each member as they age and become full beings. At 62, it's encouraging to see that we can evolve into higher beings through time. A note about Maynard's process that changed how I hear their music. The instrumentals are written first and perfected, then passed to Maynard, who writes his vocals and lyrics around, not to, the music. Keep going!! 🌀🌀🌀
@@RichInReaction Yep, 7empest is a 15 min. Grammy winning masterpiece. But hearing them in their 20s and progressing to an album that took 13 years to complete and touring in your later 50s into 60 is literally something you can hear happening. It's like a good book series that builds on itself.
Tool army assemble! edit: I like how you focus on the lyrics, if you are planning on recording more Tool, I am all here for it my man :) some of my favorites if you want some suggestions - Pneuma (and Danny Carey live drum cam), Sober (also live, from '93), Lateralus (spiral out!), The grudge (ain't gonna spoil it but there is one moment, you will know why when you hear it), Vicarious and The patient :) also their newest album is all fire!
Thanks! I appreciate it. I'll throw them on a list so I don't forget about them. I have Sober on my playlist already so I probably won't hit that one. I figure while I'm exploring these songs on youtube, i could at least try to understand the theme or meaning :D
The vocals go very up and very down like all the other instruments as it is one in Tool. Do the new album it's cool. Just do it in order or one go cuz it's very flowy.
@RichInReaction hmmm I would say some of them do but no they are definitely good as standalone. Id say do Litanie and Invincible together then we Legion inoculant and Descending together. But I just meant like all tool albums it's really one big thematic album and this one flows as good as Lateralus as a whole.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here.

Nice, I appreciate it. Seems like they have a pretty big catalogue off songs 😅

Swamp song from undertow
That Jambi chant you did is exactly where the name came from. Someone said the riff sounded like it.
Now I'll be looking for iit when I listen to the song lol.
Great reaction to a great song! Thanks for sharing with us. Go Tigers!
Thanks for watching! Tool is pretty legit
@@RichInReaction next you should check out the drum cam for the song pneuma. That video would blow your mind.

Flowy as in One song flows into the other?

Reading the lyrics backwards is kind of strange. I think you're getting the meaning though.
Sometimes, I process and piece things together in a strange way lol.
nice hat. y'all pausin just a bit too much tho.
lol i don''t want to talk over the music all the time 😅
