You're wrong: countersteering works at all speeds.

Hi Simon - I am even older than a middle aged return to biking guy - now 61 and last rode a T140E US 25years ago and have recently purchased a 1200xc scrambler. I consider myself to be a good driver and have also always ridden mountain bikes throughout but am deliberately being very careful on this. It is a big step up from my last Bonneville and I am going out on regular short rides to get used to things again. Tight mini-roundabouts were the worst to start with - and going over 50mph! Luckily I have many 40mph roads nearby on Dartmoor and coastal roads to enjoy while I improve. New winter gloves, boots etc have provided additional obstacles are they are invariably stiff and hinder accurate use of the controls. My bike came with just 684 miles on the clock so I have only just finished running it in. It came with numerous extras - hand guards, heated grips, fog lights, fly screen, rear rack and a centre stand. I fitted crash bars and fork protectors and have just added the larger touring screen as I feel the need for more wind protection (yet to test the screen as literally just put it on 20 mins ago - it fitted to the same mounts as the fly screen). The looks, torque, engine noise, brakes and the tft are great - I think it is a fantastic bike. Thanks for all of your videos - especially the scrambler ones - I enjoy watching them all. Cheers Bob PS...update re screen...much improved wind comfort. 70mph very comfortable now. Wind mostly goes over my head at 50-60.

    Great thoughts!
Funny thing is those "riding aids" seem to disturb some riders but if they don't make any mistakes, those riding aids mostly do not interfere their riding... Claudio Domenicali said in one presentation that security is the hardest to sell in motorcycling. That might be true because at least it seems that some people regard riding a motorcycle as some primitive test. To show something.
I very well understand manufacturers developing those stability systems because a motorcycle which is dangerous to ride is not going to sell long - and good clients easily disappear to the cemetery.

How can you talk so much when you're riding? I thought rider aids were fitted so they can sell more bikes to any muppet with money.
