get a cable oiler... several types available.... it will keep your cables running sweet... in Wales the rain will get in every where... so oiling the cable every now and again will keep em useable

Used regularly I’m afraid! It’s had so much through it but it wasn’t enough. I’m lubing stuff even if not ridden but it’s been harsh round here

Looks like a good job on the Royal Enfield, I bet it was a fiddly job, I hope the the engine management is fixed with those parts, good to see the bike running well now, catch you soon take care

Wait until Sunday and you’ll see😉😉 it wasn’t at a bed really. The cable route was something I was dreading but it was so simple I was actually disappointed 😂 about 30 seconds to a minute! But you have to remember I have lived the cables so many times I can deal with the connections with my eyes closed 😂😂😂

That is in extremely poor neglected condition. The engine and all cycle parts are covered in rust and salt corrosion where the bike has never been cleaned or oiled, the cables and chain are also bone dry. If you know it's neglected, why dont you do something about it before it breaks or the throttle stays open and runs you off the road..

You will be very surprised to learn that much “ dirt “ is on top of oils. I gave up on ACF50 as it was ineffective at keeping the aluminium away from going furry. It does get cleaned except for parts that I keep covered in oil. I use autosol on the casings. But of course in our local climate I would need to do it every 2 or 3 days for it to look showroom fresh.
As for dry cabling and chain. Sorry but you’ll find the chain is oiled every trip or two at worst it looks horrible but I find my method keeps chains lasting very long times. Even OEM ones last thousands. I suspect that most people oil the cables every service. I’m every 2 to 3 trips. After the first air filter got clogged up very quickly I reckon it s replaced every 1000-1500 miles . You’ll be delighted to know that the throttle cannot do that. The return spring is on the throttle body spindle and overrides the cables. If one breaks it will still work fine but would be loses redundancy. Which is why I didn’t use the bike until it was investigated and safe.
I don’t spend time prettying it up or pampering it. I go where most European Bullets won’t and it had 2 winters of commuting. It’s not garaged . That’s what I mean by neglected.

I wholeheartedly agree and support your advice. Lube and protection reaps dividends. We should all recognise and learn from this 👍

Phew! One of the throttle cables. The other one was fine but the bottom one had what looks like a defect. Despite it having tons of oil down it there was a patch that was rusting and catching on the liner. The rest was fine too. Hopefully all sorted now 😅

Good job. When did you get that new silencer? What happened to the stock exhaust? Are you looking for a replacement?
