Hmmmm, you guys seem to have the same challenge as myself: It is a lot easier to buy than sell 😉
@@bchdsailor 100% lol
It's not a BSA. It's a Norton. Judging by the primary transmission Chain case, it looks like it's an early 750 Fastback Commando. Rare and sought after.
One of these in basket state in the UK cost silly expensive prices as would the Triumph.
He's found himself a vampire motorcycle.
@johnnyrvf Yeah I'm thinking this bike would be worth making a bit more original and getting it to run
True story. Before I emigrated, I lived 15 minutes from the Ace Cafe and went there several times a week. One time I met a bloke who had worked at the AMC ( Associated Motorcycle Company ) Norton factory in the late sixties when they produced the bikes in Plumstead Road, Woolwich, S.E. London. He told me one reason the early pre NVT ( Norton Villiers Triumph ) Commandos were the quickest was because each cylinder head was hand finished. It was his job to put the valve guides into the head. He worked with a machine that ensured the guide was concentric with the valve seat and then it was passed on to his colleague who worked on the inlet ports. IMO a well sorted early Commando is a surprisingly, for it's period, quick machine. Parts are still manufactured by Andover Norton in the U.K who took over the supply of genuine Norton parts after NVT folded.
@@johnnyrvfyour dead on about commandos, I’ve had my 73 850 for 25 years. It will sit on 80 mph all day with me and my wife on it and corners like it’s on rails. They’re great if sorted.
I'm 71! You're channel is perfect! I knew the Norton instantly and prayed you'd take it. It is awesome. A collectable bike. Please go through the frame alignment and look for cracks. There are excellent fixes for all this that would make wonderful footage on TH-cam. Google up the 750 Norton Death Wobble. No fear, it's just frame and tires being perfect and sensible riding. An absolutely great bike!
🙏🙏
Yes, research required about that early frame. On the modified safer headstock there should be an additional 1" tube welded to it running under the main fat tube.
The Norton can become a very beautiful Cafe Racer. steal the front fork for Ducati and put on Norton.
Remember to try to follow the English classic rules for a cafe racer from that time..
I would disagree with you on that point , leave the Norton alone . It's worth more unmolested and gives someone a fantastic starting point if they want to restore it .
There was a 250 and 305 Honda Dream in mid-60's. I bought a 305 scrambler basket case found under water in a crate. My buddy at 15 was his dad's Cushman mechanic. Anyway, for my 16th birthday, all legal the 305 scrambler was a 90 mph daily driver for years. Harold's bike was an Ariel 500 single thumper flat track racer from 1956. Straight pipes, magneto, Ceriani race forks. And we were kids!
I haven't forgotten the V-Max! Keepin my fingers, toes, & eyes crossed on that one! The Triumph will be awesome when it gets finished!
@@DebraHampton-z9g I'm not sure how the next vmax video will shape up but there is definitely drama lol
That 1st Honda is what I knew as a motorcycle from around 8 yrs old. Today I still imagine the old Honda 750 four as what a
bike looks like. Of course, they only thing the same is 2 wheels but I guess that's why naked / dual sports bike are what I like
the most? Thanks for the walk down memory lane..... peace
Some really nice bikes there, my pick is the Norton. Who would turn a Commando into a chopper? Commandos are fetching good money these days.
That's a decent haul and also a nice air compressor. Two bits of advice for the compressor; mount it on anti vibration pads and set the air pressure switch to come on at the lowest usable pressure you can. Long cycling the run time minimizes how often the compressor turns on. The motor uses a lot of juice when it spikes on so this will save you a few bucks on your electric bill.
... and build a closet around it to muffle the sound.
@@fabienpichard even better
10th! Had a dream 150, I sold it about 10 years ago, and have regretted it since. I’m going to try to get it back. I know it will cost me more than what I sold it for. In 1977 I bought 13 motorcycles from a guy at a party. I paid $750 for them They were street and dirt bikes that ran and drove perfectly. I ended up making $3500 on the deal in the end. The biggest one was a 450 enduro. Love your channel and style. Roger in Pierre South Dakota
Damn, was the other guy drunk at the party? 😂😂 Thats a very cool deal
@@marco12535 Yes he was. Everyone at the party tried to talk him out of it. He wanted his garage cleaned out to be able to put his two cars in. I had him sigh a bill of sale before I left the party. Came by the next morning and made 5 trips to my barn with all the motorcycles. He didn’t have any regrets over the deal. Or he didn’t let me know he had any.
Know I'm dating myself here but the Honda 150 is a "CA95 Benly Touring". My first bike at age 15. A used 1962 model. Rode that thing everywhere for 3 years. Never left me stranded!
@@jackdawson1233 correct! Early version too
I get excited just by seeing all those survivors in your shop. Brilliant! 🙂
@@Bevoin1970 It's nice to temporarily house them!
Always a good day to get a real compressor... I run vintage quincy compressors.. I kinda have a problem collecting them too..
I bought my first bike at 17 years old in 1973. It was a used Honda CB 77 305cc that I paid $100
Made my first international trip from Canda to New England.
The triumph 500 has twin carbs so it’s a Daytona. Fantastic bike. Will say T100R on engine No. also I see it has twin leading shoe front brake which is about the best drums ever got. Defo worth getting going, looks nearly complete. Electrics are really simple, but Boyer ignition helps.
Looking forward to seeing the old Honda come to life!
@@tonya5423 keep your eyes peeled in the coming weeks!
Nice haul, the Dream looks like it's straight from those old You meet the nicest people on a Honda commercials, just so nice
Good correction Seth, as a former owner of a hornet, you made me proud.
Great video! I learned to ride on a little Honda Dream back in the early '70s.
I'd buy that Triumph from you. I had a 1968-650 that I rebuilt, and installed a Joe Hunt magneto on it. Loved that bike.
I'm sure it would eventually be for sale
NORTON!
The black British bike is a fastback Norton commando.
Correct
There are lots of parts available for Norton Commandos. Over 55,000 were made.
FOR THE CONTENT!! I see that there will be no shortage of subjects. It’s a bummer about the Bandit, but got to move forward, can’t keep them all forever.
@XJRabbits I know I'll miss the Bandit but the GF and I always ride the vstrom and it's just an easier bike to do everything with. Need the space in my brain back
I have a CB919 and it's my favorite bike in the garage, unfortunately it's also my wife's favorite as well and we always ride together so I don't get it very often.
Easily the most interesting channel on TH-cam!
-Much love from a fan in Tokyo.
🙏🙏
Hey B.J. Wow. What you need. Absolutely get that. I'm now thinking that maybe I could find a place over there so maybe I could be the one to just sweep your floor. Yea. Just a broom and a dust pan, pick up the discarded bits and pieces and off to the dump. Provide some lunch, set up barbecue and drinks for those periodic get togethers that you have. Maybe early next year say from March to July. There's Sturgis you know. Not sure. Then I'd have to head back to Waterville Ohio for the fam there on my way back to New Hampshire. Dream on!
My dad back in the 60s bought a new black Honda Dream 300 from the dealer on Topanga Cyn Blvd, Chatsworth, CA.
^..^~~
I was yelling at my TV that it was a Norton commando! First bike I ever rode, my uncle had a '68 commando 750 I helped him rebuild when I was 12. He told me if i could start it, i could ride it. Just remember, that's not the shifter on the left, it's the brake 😂
Im actually excited to get all confused by the reverse shifting/braking lol
@@BrickHouseBuilds it'll get ya! by the time I got my first bike (1985 Kawasaki GPz550) a few years later there was a hell of a learning curve after bombing around on the Commando for a few years, I didnt know any better and asked my day in all of my 15 year old wisdom why the shifter on my Kawasaki was on the wrong side 🤣
Also the Triumph. My very very first bike. A 1954 ~650. A true four stroke. (not the hard tail tho) ~ Both pistons up and down together. ~ No real cam shaft ~ just four trips up and down for both pistons. My (friends) would run it around in the parking lot at lunch time (until I got a chain for it) ~ Sylvania High School ~ outside Toledo Ohio. Oh yea! Vrrry cool. And another Honda 450. The very best bike from back in the day. Wow. So cool. Thank you for sharing all that you do. ✨👍✨. New Hampshire.
Nice haul you guys! BJ, your a tease with the Triumph!!
That bike will be a distraction for me as I really want to tinker with it
@@BrickHouseBuilds Still a TEASE! Lol
BMW R100 good salable parts!! Thanks for saving these old bikes.
If the Triumph has 2 carbs it's a Daytona
Machine with the weird pull backs is an early 70,s Norton Commando .
68 commando fastback actually
Decent haul, looking forward to more on the V-max…
That's a Norton with what looks like the isolastic mount frame, probably a Commando.
Yup, 68 750 fastback
The little red 150 Honda is called a Benly. It'll be a fun little floater when you get it going. I had a black one. Currently I have a white 305 Dream, it's my favorite vintage motorcycle.
Correct, look for a video on it in a couple weeks 😎
Reminds us of our times at Barber, trying to cram as many bikes as possible in the truck and trailer 😂
You two take it to the next level 😅
Another great video. I look forward to your videos every week.
Glad you enjoy them!
Dang, gonna be "in deep" before long! Good finds there, parts is parts!
Ahh nostalgia, my father had a red 305 Dream. Beautiful bikes.
Some cracking bikes there guys what a haul look forward to hearing some if not all of them run lol is that asking too much 😇😉 nice compressor by the way take care guys and don’t work too hard 👌👍🏁🏁🏍️🏍️❤️
Some will run for sure 😎
Norton Fastback
Google 1968 Norton Commando and read the September 1968 Cycle World road test of it. A real classic and someone probably needs to grab it from you and do a restoration.
I think the Triumph is a T100R Daytona, 500cc with dual carbs. A nice find along with that Norton Comando!
Correct!
Been looking at those compressors.... Thanks for letting me finally hear how quiet they are..... They seem like great compressors...
We were really surprised by it. It's a beast
Boys in the candy store.
U got a like from Brazil
Crazy nice!!, proper hoarders😂!!
TAKE IT ALL !!!!!
Hi iam really looking forward to seeing the funky little honda, I've not seen one them over here in the uk. Please carry on with your great work, I wish I lived close to your shop ide be wanting to help as I've been wrenching on motorcycles since I was a kid in 70s. 👍
@@markclarke6579 Definitely look for an upcoming video on the dream 😎
The 919 and the R100 👌
Nice haul guys 👍🏼. The pick of them would be the Commando. Fastbacks are pretty scarce and sought after. Be a great one to restore to original. All of tge rest are okay, but the Norton is the standpit, despite the horrible things it's had done to it😊
The Norton is so ugly as it sits. I had assumed it was a different tank and seat but was wrong after doing some digging. Id like to de-chopperfy it a bit and luckily have some Norton friends
@@BrickHouseBuilds its ugly now, but will be gorgeous if restored. A good mate of mine here does up old Nortons as a hobby in his retirement and his favourite personal bike is the cherry red Fadtback...its really nice!
Cool lookin bunch of bikes Mr BHB
🤘🤘
Hi BJ great save on the mix of bikes i have a triumph t100p 1972 i hope to get started putting together soon
Definitely my favorite of the bunch
Really cool
I cannot decide. All of them are fantastic finds.
Same
Honda Hawk Tuah! Where’s the cap when you need it? 😂 great find guys! 🎉
🤣🤣
Nice bike haul you got there guys 👍
🤘🤘
I wish I was closer. I would love to have you guys work on my bike.
🤘🤘
So cool, all the new potential projects!
That'd be a Norton man.
Yup
A nice haul? My favorites alphabetically would be the BMW, the Norton, and then the Triumph. My number one pick would be the Norton, to restore to its former glory without any cross-breeding.
The norton is definitely cool. Hopefully I can find some more original type parts for it
I have a Honda 919, its quite the thing how hard it hits on the midrange! Good haul of bikes overall, nice stuff in there, Ducati's come with such good stuff
I've yet to ride a Hornet
@@BrickHouseBuilds Its quite a thing, Honda really focused that engine on hitting really hard in mid-range, short gearing, light weight, instant throttle response, at the time from I think 20-50mph it was faster then the fastest motorcycle in the world, perfect quiet exhaust note, R1's and such are probably similar, but phewf, it feels awful fast to me!
Got a lot going on. You're going to need a bigger shop!😅 enjoyed the video BJ and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Need less stuff!
@BrickHouseBuilds a shop can be compared to a tool box!
I am totally into the Honda's.
the Norton 750 Fastback is a rare beast and attracts more dollars than it should
Disagree, its the lightest of the Commandos.
We will see what I can do with it. I very much want to make it run at a minimum
The Norton alone should be worth as much as whatever you paid for everything, even as a back-in-the-day chopper. 68 was the first year for those, IIRC.
I hope it will be. If anything I may de-chopper it since it's actually very complete
pick of the lot for me is the Norton...........I have a '74 Commando I restored
@@malcolmbennett3555 that's awesome!
Nice pile of bikes
Definitely did well on these
That Baby Dream caught my eye. Only because I have one I am rebuilding that was in a garage fire, I am seeing that finding parts for these bikes are a bit hit and miss.
That BSA look's like Norton)
It's a Norton . At a guess , a 750cc. The triumph looks like a T100 , 500cc Daytona .
Sorry you didn't pick up that sweet blue Vespa that was sittin' there. That woulda been a great build for you...and your audience. There's a whole lot of us Vespa people out here! (But that Honda Dream is a winner!)
I know Vespas are cool but just out of my wheelhouse. Given the limited time we have to do these things, prioritizing a Norton and triumph made sense
I keep thinking about picking up a Honda Dream. Just for the history and interest.
Thats the same reason I wanted this one. I need to experience what the hype is
That was a ball. Few great videos to watch for. Am I the buddy getting the 450, old pal?
🤘🤘
It's weird to see an F4i in that shape! I worked at Dave Mungenast Motorsports when those first came out and they were the hot new thing!
Had me rolling with that’s how they built the pyramids! 😂 That’s some ingenuity there!
Leverage and a vstrom!
When I saw the BMW R100s I said, "yeah!" Then bent subframe.. and front end.......booo. good luck guys!
Yeah it is just a parts bike
That Honda Dream is really nice. I am working on one right this minute but it's a 1964 CA95 Benly 150. Can't wait for you to run the numbers and put out a video on it. I wish you were not so far away from Maine because I would double what you paid for it to have it. They're not extremely sought after or hard to find, but they are just cool bikes and they sound nice. Great work!
Per the numbers it is a Benly. An "early" version. There will be more in an upcoming video of this bike
Hi guys, you remember the bike breakers, the huge place that was shutting down? Your shop is beginning to look like that one! 😂👍
Were trying to avoid that lol
Triumph and Norton. I'd junk the rest
Can’t wait to see the Dream - greetings from Holland
I'll have a video out on it within a few weeks 😎
Its a Norton commando 750
Love the little Dream.
As a BMW owner I was drawn to the R100RS! Maybe a frame/swing arm could be found? Those motors are bullet proof!👍🔥
Parts could be found but it will go to a good home to be used for parts
How come no one contacts me with hauls like this? Awesome bikes! 👍
Ah yes. The problem of too many bikes :D Good show boys. keep it up.
Glad you enjoyed!
I LIKE THE DREAM
Some good stuff you got there, will see how it goes! the beemer is a good piece, hope you can fix it.
The BMW is really bad and not worth fixing. It is good for parts
Looks like it might be time for a BHB swap meet!😊
For real
The compressor load scene reminded me of Monty Python and the giant wooden bunny
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cool bikes. Hopefully you'll get bit by the British bike bug after this. That's a Norton fastback, not a BSA. I'm sure you'll figure that out before this video ends. (I'm commenting as I watch.) I'm sure a few of us are yelling "Norton" at the screen... not literally yelling, but thinking it..: ) Triumph 500 will have the gear shift right up against the kick starter and the 650 has 5 inches of space between the two.
Careful with that Honda ignition switch with the immobiliser. A lot of the aftermarket ones don’t have the correct parts in them. I think it’s a resister, Superbike Surgery did a video trying to fix a Honda and showed the oscilloscope signal and the missing input that the aftermarket switch was causing, leading to a no start.
Correction: some of them have a diode that enables the fuel pump, not all the aftermarket switches have the diode fitted , so no fuel pump and no start.
Cool bike haul . Interesting options for sure. Whats the deal with the 82 xl500r ? Runner? Parts? Interested!
Actually that one is a runner that I will have for sale very shortly.
Nice haul. If you can fix the chopperness that Norton has big value potential.
Thats my goal for now
Love these videos. I may just cancel cable. This is way more entertaining.
Hahaha glad you enjoy them!
Junked Nortons, BMWs, Ducati …unbelievable. Just the parts are worth something.
@pdm2201 they weren't junked actually. Some of the cheaper bikes were just parts or theft recovery/tow yard bikes but the good stuff was from a collection. More complicated story but regardless, these weren't junked bikes
You should have picked up the Vespa. A cool 2-stroke.
@deangiacopassi1951 The Vespa was cool but they are a bit out of my wheelhouse so I chose to pass on it
Ill grab a fresh coffee and hang in there for all the shows fixing them up. Maybe there is a 750CB i can see how you fix their clutches ;)
Just a few videos back I did a clutch on my cb750 lol
@@BrickHouseBuilds cheers, ill take a look. Thought id seen them all.
more of a horder show then a bike resto/repair channel.
@mudroost8040 I've never seen you comment before so you may be new here. This video would definitely give you that impression if you haven't seen another video of mine. My business has always involved buying and selling bikes outside of the ones I build, repair, and revive
You guys ever around NW GA, you could help me clean out my garage, I don't ride much any more and I have accumulated Hondas and KLR's.
