I have an Inateck pouch, it is HEAVILY "inspired" by the Peak Designs pouch. I have had it for about 3 - 4 years, and it is still in perfect condition and it only cost abou 22 EUR. I was looking for the Peak Design but at that time I could not find it in Spain, and buying it from the USA to ship over was laughable in terms of price. Sometimes you have to make due with whats available in your market.
Drink every time he says “Linus’ sack” 😅 seriously though, great video. Didn’t even have two of these on my radar until now. Thanks and keep up the good work!
i’m not an SD card user, but i imagine being able to grab them all on a little insert and set them next to the computer without needing the whole bag could be pretty nice workflow-wise. tomtoc might be onto something there
Nice review, thanks! Personally, I would choose the Peak Design Pouch. I prefer its fabric, overall look, and design. I'm not a fan of big logos and wouldn't want to carry a "sack" with a TH-camrs name on it. The Tomtoc pouch looks lower quality to me, and I don't like the idea of copying someone else's design. I don't mind spending more on better quality.
Super dooper budget friendly version and my personal favourite and indeed 'Honourable mention', must go to the £9.99 large black pencil case available at your local WH Smith, does the job, no features, no protection just a zip top bag, smashing !
I appreciate the refinement of all PD gear. I just bought the PD Tech Pouch, which is an upgrade from their Field Pouch. It is good for all of us to support companies who invest in R & D, even if that means means paying more from time to time.
Even though I'm intrigued by Linus's sack and what a sack it is to behold I'm all with the Peak design pouch, I use it for work: carries my mousemat, wireless mouse, numerous cables, power bank, more cables, pens, sticky notes, plug adapter. ... I never realised the function of those two grab straps at the base - they're perfect!
TBH I'd pick Linus's sack anyday. I've grown quite fond of its tactile surface, making it easy to differentiate from others and quickly identifiable at night. It also serves as a great storage compartment to hold any sort of objects, and with my experience, white liquides too! Overall I'd give it a 10/10 must-buy recommendation to any newcomer in the field. Also his tech pouch seems decent as well.
My shortlist came down to the Peak Design, Evergoods CAP 2L or the Alpaka Tech Case Max. I got the Alpaka, which is big and blocky, but fits everything I need for a commute day - including tech items, tools, med and repair kits and a small pencil case. Also the “blood orange” ripstop nylon interior fabric is just groovy. All three are very good options, though.
I have the Alpaka Elements tech pouch and it works really well for me. Very happy with the internal orange material which makes it easy to find anything and it is also quite competitive in terms of price.
I have 2 bum bags with a capacity of 3 and 5 litres. The pouches looked great until I realised that I could just use one or both for tech purposes, which I kind of do already. But I may carry both in future, one as a tech repository in my backpack and one as a bum bag, Thanks for the suggestion.
Have been using the Peak Design every day for a couple of years and still looks brand new. Well thought out design and great build quality. I also use it as a sling bag when I’m travelling. That said I’ve become a bit of a PD fanboy and have several of their bags and camera accessories.
Hello from Kentucky USA Jon, I would love to see one of the big name companies who make pouches come out with a pouch that securely "clips" to your belt. This way you can unclip it, use what you need, and then reclip it back on your belt. All the pouches I have seen only have belt loops, so you have to run your belt through them. This means you have to take your belt off to take the pouch on and off. Have a great week. JT
Interesting review. These look very large for a tech pouch - I think they would take up a lot of room in my bag when travelling. I use a United Airlines Business toiletry zip bag that I was given years ago when flying business. I have a similar bags from BA and Emirates flights - I always bring them home when I have been lucky enough to fly in business class and they are great for tech, gadgets and other stuff.
Excellent comparison video. I am obsessed with tech pouches, backpacks, etc and have found my two favorites are the Ulanzi vlogging pouch and the Wandrd medium tech pouch. The Peak Design pouch is too rigid. I like squishy so I can pack them in odd places. But you did a super job!!
They are all pretty good in my opinion, but it would be nice to see some velcro panels in them vanquest style. I think they all missed a trick there :)
hi Jon, in my opinion you clearly missed the best tech pouches: pgytech tech pouches - they replaced my PD ones. Great fabric, great organisation, great accessability, great price....+
After watching a video review, I purchased a Peak Design bag. However, upon receiving it, I discovered three exposed wire ends without insulation inside the bag. The finishing details appear to be quite rough and unfinished.
Honestly, the Tomtoc is such good value. I actually use a few different pouches, but a boundary supply rennan tech pouch is my main one (over priced in my opinion).
The Peak Design is by far the best pouch of the three, so much nicer. The Linus is way overpriced. Both the Linus and the Tomtoc both have way too intrusive of branding, when it comes to labels, less is more! And Linus really missed it by using the high vis orange for the internal backing, yet all the organization done in the pitch black? I have had the PD for five years and I would not part with it, fantastic tech pouch.
I had the exact same thought regarding the colour, big missed opportunity. If Alpaka can do it for their pouches, so can they I think. I also have the peak design pouch and it’s still the best option without a doubt.
@@seeksac I have it as well and, like the Peak Design pouch, it is awesome. For me, the PD and CAP2 are the two best designed pouches out there. I like that the PD can stand on its own open and you can access from the top as you work, but where the CAP2 outshines it is in its layout. There is just something so satisfying how that lid just drops giving the best quick access to your tools and gear quickly, while at the same time providing the most secure, stable base while the pouch is open on the desktop.
I just wish the LTT sack had a way to hold or carry it somehow As it stands the only way you'll ever be able to use it is if you put it into a bag, which sucks. It could work really well as a sling bag or something I have one, i really like it, i just cant carry it with me without it taking up a lot of space in my backpack
Unbelievable that Peak trademarked the term “Tech Pouch” when it’s just common language. Haven’t gotten into any of their gear thus far, or Linus’s sack for that matter 😂 Did pick up the Inateck Pouch which is amazingly well made for its price point. It shares most of the same features though it accordions open completely to sit flat and reveal all it contents easily. Extremely happy with it TBH and think it’s better than these 3 offering. Though I to have the newer Tomtoc 5.5L sling which is phenomenal, and their Electronic Organizer. The Organizer is great for my handheld tripods, MagSafe camera mount, and hot shoe lighting. Think Tomtoc is a brand to watch, because the new stuff is quality.
@@JonGadget it was noted, some sly smirks were seen. Don’t blame you. It’s as if it was set up. Well played on those voting for replacement of pouch with Sac🤪
Sadly I didn't see a reason to use LTT's sack. They have a ratcheting screwdriver that seems really top notch, but the tech pouch isn't special at all. I still stand by EverGoods CAP2L, the PeakDesign is a close second 😉 Great review as always 😊😊
Yep XD But seriously, can any of them hold a bigger power supply, like older-laptop sized because I have a 240w charger I can use with multiple things at once I'd like to keep on me.
I have ocd, its not that bad anymore but peak designs pouch has way to many pouches, a lot of pouches like way to many which is what it has. Might not look as bad in person. Looks the best overall though
Did you employ the script writer from 'allo 'allo? it appears you got as much enjoyment from mentioning Linus's sack as Madonna with the big boobies gave us, all those years ago. Say it only once. Likes = pliable exterior material, hi vis interior, stretchy pockets and not too many small loops but discrete branding Dislikes = Hiked UK prices, being too big and therefore prone to over stuffing (No jokes please) Not sure if you mentioned the ability of the pouch to stand upright when in use but I do like that feature. Love your reviews, and very interested in how Jon's pouch is packed.
I’ve loved my Peak Design backpack for camera gear and my TomToc sling, both of their pouches look great too. Not a fan of Linus so I skip his stuff unless it really stood out. To each their own.
Inspired design is one thing... blatently knocking off a design is another. For this reason the Tom Toc (to me) would not even be a consideration (not to mention all those lose threads). As having spent close to 30 years in the design space in one way or another, that LTT Logo looks garrish and is way over done. Having owned many PD items, I can attest to the quality, user experience, and attention to detail. However at the end of the day, all of these are pretty massive tech kits, and personally while PD would be my personal choice, I prefer a much thinner kit. I personally use the Mission Workshop Archiv Tech Case. It is wonderful, and weather-proof.
IMO the PD tech pouch looks best, tomtoc 2nd. The LTT sack looks like a cheap copy of the PD, "designed" on a free afternoon. PD is already relatively expensive, but the LTT for the same price is an absolute joke.
Seems disingenuous to call out Tomtoc for ripping off Peak Design but not the LTT when it's just as much a rip off. Same general shape and pocket layout with that same center organization area.
I don't like to support companies that blatantly copy (tomtoc, also one of their slings is a copy of Aer) but PD trying to copyright "tech pouch" makes me not want to support them either.
Both are basically a rip-off from Peak Design and both are inferior in both quality and function. I don't see why would anyone peek a pretender instead of a real deal.
Both of them are way overpriced. Linus and his american prices when he still does everything in Canada ! What a jerk ! Anyway I will never ever buy anything from them, their prices are stupid and totally unjustified. They can eat them if they starve.
New drinking game... Take a shot every time Jon mentions Linus's Sack 😂
Giddity 😂
I really like Tomtoc because of it's affordability, being nearly $25 cheaper is a big deal to me.
it is very good value
Tomtoc wins it for me. Half the price just as functional. Well built. I love mine.
Had the Peak Design for about 4 or 5 years now and it’s still in immaculate condition and I’m not careful with it. I love it.

😂😂😂. Jon , I can’t stop laughing . It’s even funnier that you keep a straight face . 😂 . Linus’s Sack is pretty nice …
I couldn’t help myself 😆
I’d add that the Tomtoc gets my vote since its branding isn’t as “in your face as Linus’s sack” 😂

The tomtoc extra piece holds switch games, so useful for those that use this as a switch (+ other things) case

I wish the Peak Design has double zipper. It would be much easier open/close when use as a sling bag.
I've never had a tech pouch before. . .now I need one. Cheers! :-)
Great insightful video as always Jon. As a similar alternative, what are your thoughts on the Evergoods Civic Access Pouch 2L?
I do prefer the LTT pouch but I just wish their branding was much more minimal. Those elastic strips are clutch.

Are you seroiusly implying that TomToc's pouch feels cheaper in hand that Linus' sack 😅 (Sorry the joke was right there 😂). Great content as always!
Curious to see your upcoming video, as I'm really not sure what one would put in such a pouch.
Jon, where did you purchase the black scales for your Victorinox Compact? Thank you for your time.
One key thing is that Peak Design has two hooks. That way you can use it as a sling bag. The other two does not have it.
