Loved this detail for so many years. I listened to this version so many times I find it strange when I hear "only searching for this" in other versions.
one of the most beautiful and emblematic voices I had the honor to hear during my stay in this world, the voice that manages to give light in the midst of so much darkness around, thank you for giving me the honor of listening.

Tebho este DVD comprado na altura do lançamento. Também vi o primeiro show de turne deles no Brasil na altura em Curitiba. "Quase ninguém" conhecia a banda... num show em uma casa pequena, com umas 50 pessoas de público
The fact that it looks so effortless, shows the *incredible* amount of skill at work here, from eeeveryone involved. Thanks for this revisit to the past, it's been so long, but this stands the test of time.

i remember watching this when I was 11 and had no idea at all about music. Time has gone by. Im already 26 and so happy to be able to watch this videos again 💜💜💜 thank you 🥺🥺🥺
Recién "descubrí" la música de Epica este año y estoy encantado no puedo parar de escuchar sus canciones, la voz de Simone OMG!! Estoy ansioso por verlos en Diciembre en Ciudad de México. ¡¡¡Los Amo!!!
Epica excellent band with amazing vocals by simone simons what amazing singer with beautiful vocals and fantastic voice they are legends of rock/ opera music 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤🥁🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
This studio session was recorded in 2003, when Epica just released their first album. The band members seen here are: - Singer: Simone Simons (still in the band) - Guitar/grunts: Mark Jansen (still in the band) - Keyboards: Coen Janssen (still in the band) - Drums: Jeroen Simons (left in 2007, replaced by Ariën van Weesenbeek) - Bass: Yves Huts (left in 2012, replaced by Rob van der Loo) - Guitar: Ad Sluijter (left in 2008, replaced by Isaac Delayheye)
Really like, but the drummer needs to pump it up or be replaced & rough male singer too simple. More flexible emotion needed, very static/flat. Will be buying this album & looking what they've done. A lot of very good happening here.
This is an ancient one. I remember it well. Spoilt by the dreadfully billious attack of growling in it like something out of a cheap horror film. This is one of the factors that severely limited Epica's Market reach and prevented the incomparable Simone getting the wider attention she deserved. Real shame. 🤨
That is true, but unlike with most other bands, growling in Epica's songs has it place, aim and meaning and although I mostly dislike the growl, with Epica, I find it in perfect juxtaposition to Simone's angelic voice.
@@lazaruslong697 whereas I feel the opposite. Growling divides Metal Fans into two camps. Those for. Those agin. The problem is for non Metal fans who would love Simone's voice - it puts them off completely. So she remains unknown to a wider global audience which is a real shame.
@@frenchbaguetteoui The point was: the frame rate didn't change from the original sources (Digibeta and DVD), only the resolution. The old youtube videos were deinterlaced to 25p however.
Finally. EPICA forever…🌹

Oh I thought you might be talking about Marks voice that comes in at 2:43. 🙄

After Forever and Epica: the greatest symphonic metal bands
Chance doesn't exist
But the path of life is not
Totally so predestined and
Time and chronology
Show us how all should be
In the ways of existence
To find out why we are here
Being conscious is a torment
The more we learn is the less we get
No one surveys the whole
Focus on things so small
But life's objective is to make it meaningful
Only searching for this
That which doesn't exist
Although our ability
To relativize remains unclear
Being conscious is a torment
The more we learn is the less we get
Every answer contains a new quest
A quest to non-existence, a journey with no end
I'm not afraid to die
I'm afraid to be alive
Without being aware of it
I'm so afraid to, I couldn't stand to
Waste all my energy in things
That do not matter anymore
Our future has already been written by us alone
But we don't grasp the meaning
Of our programmed course of life
We only fear what comes
And smell death every day
Our future has already been wasted by us alone
And we just let it happen and do not worry at all
Our future has already been written by us alone
But we don't grasp the meaning
Of our programmed course of life
We only fear what comes
And smell death every day
Search for the answers that lie beyond
Being conscious is a torment
The more we learn is the less we get
Every answer contains a new quest
A quest to nonexistence, a journey with no end
Bring this song back to the live setlists!

Are these the band members which regulary perform on stage? (they all - incl. Simone - look so young to me...) 🤔

03:35 is on totally wrong time frame of audio-time line. And that ruined all the composition. Please, director of this... replace that abomination.
The high frame rate is so distracting. Feels like I'm watching tv in my nan's with her shit motion-blur tv.
Original source was 720×576 non square pixel/50i which was converted to 3840x2160/50p. No motion-blur involved.
