It's amazing how much work went into the old mining operations, only to miss a nugget like that by a few feet. What a great find, and I'm sure you will be digging so much more in the future. What a fantastic Christmas gift for you and your families!

Charlie's Pride was dug up last year in October. So, this show is well over a year old. Still, that would've given them a great 2021 xmas.
The Victoria Diggers were stopped from mining because some government body suddenly decided that Carlie's Gully had historic significant. That was after the guys had bought the land, applied for were granted a licence to mine and paid for equipment such as an excavator, a wash plant, metal detectors etc. As far as I know they are appealing the decision via the legal system, but I don't think they have had an outcome yet.

Modern technology such as metal detectors makes easy work of projects which used to be all but impossible. That's exciting stuff to watch and you guys have produced a fantastic video here, thank you. Well done.

What an awesome find! From what I hear Nev is not in the greatest of health, along with this the battle to mine this block of land is at a stand still and looks unlikely.. I wish Nev and his family all the best.. His daughter has a go fund me page of which all the money goes to battling the court case against Heritage Victoria should anyone wish to support him.
Why would they need support if they are really digging nuggets like that, just shows it is bs.
@@stever1053 That nugget I’m going to assume went to paying off the property and equipment, they haven’t been digging that land for long.. they had an approved licence of which was revoked.. So they can no longer dig and find that sort of gold..
@@stever1053 Not long after this they had to stop all mining on their lease as the state government came in and put a heritage order on it. They still have bills to pay and have no land to mine. This footage shown is from a few years back.
@@subsist99 This sounds like pressure from a very high authority protecting gold prices. If the license wasn't revoked and they found huge volumes, the price would tumble. The license would then be given to another party

How cool is it that you have a video of it being dug out to go with it? In the Denver Museum of Natural History, there is a display with two huge rhodochrosite crystals from a pocket in the Sweet Home Mine. they removed a large plate from the pocket and the crystals are bedded in a sea of quartz crystals. They have a video of them removing them from the pocket and being seen for the first time.
that hunk of gold was found 500 meters away from me. i live done the road of these guys

Amazing Find, Personally being in England I know very little about the geology there. The gold originated from millions of years old volcanic activity ?

so, for how much did that big goldnugget sell for ? my first thougt was dont melt it, its a natural piece of gold and more precious as it is in its natural form than a golbar same weight that is artificially forged. i would like that goldnugget in my bookshelve, would look nice.

The Gold Nugget has appeared in about 3 seasons
They say in some cases in the beginning of the gold rush they could dig up big nuggets that size in our state they called it the potato patch of gold that didn’t last long and one man had a thirty pound nugget as a door stop didn’t realize what it was 😆
How much do they have to pay to prospect there & for equipment & fees, etc., ?
