I’m an old metal detectorist from Scotland, now living in Australia, I used to use a "whites coinmaster" back in the late 70s, everything manual, everything needed adjusting all the time, lol…constant ground balancing etc …but i found some good stuff as a young lad. I never found any gold in all the years I did it, but Scotland isn’t renowned for its massive nuggets, just its history. I’ve just retired so I might buy myself a good detector and give it a go. All the best mate, keep digging!
@richardlove4287 that's awesome mate, but it sounds like you need to find yourself some gold that's for sure. I'd certainly recommend the GPX6000 it's the best machine out at the moment for gold. All the best and you'll have to let me know how you go out there on the Goldfields.
Congratulations Lee well done . A word of advice what I would do is use 7000 now as well as a 5000 with big coils as there should be some bigger ones around and use string line to grid . Once again well done

Bloody well done mate. Those are so hard to come by. My biggest is 3 ounce piece and I must admit I shed a few tears. Keep up the good work
Aren't they man, I almost did mate I think the adrenaline was peaking too high lol. 3 ounce is amazing, it's hard enough to find a 1 gram piece mate.
It is now time to train your ears to be able to pick up on the exact noise and tone your detector makes when passing it over the gold nugget you found. have your detector at different distances, near rubbish, hidden behind rocks.
I have walked away from different targets thinking they were steal. I will never know. I have to train my ear to home in on the noise made by large nuggets. Your the MAN
It's definitely a little hard to do but you can definitely pick out some targets usually or have a good idea of what it might be. Cheers mate👌
