I miss Plattsburgh!! I lived there 7 years working for Prevost/Nova and i want to go back! Skiing, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, adirondack biggest park in US
It's hot more than 7 days a year. I stayed there with some friends for a few weeks in the 90s and it was super warm every day (like Albany). I will say I had a hell of a time. Super nice place
honestly my favorite part is the History. Plattsburgh was a MAJOR settlement in the early formation of not just NY but the US (then British territories) because of our location on Lake Champlain. Then there's the B-47 and F-111 on display commemorating the Plattsburgh Airforce Base.
I was born in Canada and became a citizen. I lived in Plattsburgh and Peru for 20+ years. There is so much history to experience there. Absolutely a beautiful place to live. Both of my adult children still live there. The winters do suck hard and last for half the year. Wages up there are lower overall and the cost of living is higher. I moved to Oklahoma in 2010 and automatically made 30k more a year with a FAR lower cost of living.
I miss Plattsburgh very much. Went to SUNY in the early 2000s. Really loved the vibe of the Burgh and I last visited in July 2015. Hope to visit again in the future.
Haha this video just popped up on my feed but me and my gf at the time lived in the apartment building just to the left of you when we went to College there back in 2015/16. It’s a long way from Long Island but it was a cool place to live
Enjoyed your video James. My parents are originally from the Rochester area. I enjoyed spending summers in the Finger Lakes ,Thousand Islands, and the North Country as a child. Wife and I retired several years ago and we have taken extended vacations in those areas and started looking into buying a vacation/second home mainly for the warmer months. We love the natural beauty and slower pace and will continue to spend summers but won't be buying due to the high taxes. I understand that you have nothing to do directly with it but I know it affects you. New York is seriously hindering their ability to grow these counties because of this. I wrote a letter to the Editor of the Watertown paper sharing similar thoughts. Thanks
Im looking to move to jims area, Im aware of the new york tax levels however if im buying a 2nd home (tax write-off) in upstate Ny with lower rates compared to rest of state, I dont think its terrible. Where are located currently? I was looking at Michigan but love NY too much.
Came here for college, I met this amazing chubby drunk, He has now been my friend for five years. Love this town with everything I have. Only negative part is that retro live isnt a bigger club!
I like life in Plattsburgh because there isn’t much here to attract visitors…they all go to lake placid, Burlington, or lake George for their fun. They leave us alone…again, not much here, but that’s okay…enjoy the out of doors and your neighbors…
Yoooo im born and riased in plattsburgh its a good place in plattsburght but the taxes are going expensive but its a fun place to go to its very peaceful
I lived there 1 1/2 years. I hated it. There is nothing there. One crowded wal-mart. Target and nothing else appealing. Cold more months then warm and yes there is a lot of snow. Stay away from Plattsburgh. Not many sunny days either.
Pretty much put me to sleep. Anyway, we did live there from 2018 thru 2019 and we loved it. Only thing is it's frozen 5-6 months and summer is just to short.
lived ten years of my childhood in what was Plattsburgh AFB --- fond memories of the area can't imagine intentionally moving there unless for sake of family, though
Thanks for asking. Your best approach is to talk with a local lender who can explore your credit options in detail. Homes are selling fast so you’ll need to be prepared and have your financing lined up. I’d be glad to recommend some lenders to you. My email is in the video description. Send me a note and I’ll send you some names. Thanks,
I lived in the north country for a while... I'm from CT and Lower NY... We get snow and some love it , some do not... Listening to this is appalling. I love the mountains and snow, cold as it gets This is north country LITE, you're description that is....... MOVE SLOW BOY !!!!
Still live here, and there is not a lot, but this place if FILLED with amazing, and interesting rich history. Awesome monuments, and even some cool buildings and atmosphere. Granted still not a lot but it’s not completely awful
@@isaacthecold3802 and explain the incest going on with your people there bruh 🤣 you all are related and have same last names. Sounds like the song “sweet home Alabama” to me. Thank god there’s not many white people in cali. Most of y’all are broke and uneducated there
It is! Lake Champlain is a large attraction year round. There are beaches and parks on the lake in several locations. Our proximity to the Adirondack Mountains, Lake Placid and Montreal make it an ideal spot. Have you visited before?
@@livinginplattsburgh no but I'll be up there for work for a month and am looking forward to exploring and am hoping to meet nice people to hang out with during my stay!
@@navymed3 good luck meeting people there unless you’re white. They run in clicks and won’t really hang out with you unless you were raised there with them or if you’re white then they’ll welcome you with open arms. Very ignorant people for the most part. Thank god I moved back to California

The history here is rich. I couldn't agree more!!

I owned a house in Plattsburgh for 16 years. Taxes drove me out. $4,600 in Plattsburgh vs $650 in South Carolina.
Love your video James Jock, very informative and helpful! It makes me want to visit Plattsburgh!
you should visit! :)

I think there's a lot going on! Some use Plattsburgh as a jumping off spot and do day trips from here.
Winters are toooooooooooooo COLD.

One question ❓
Exactly What am I getting for Taxes Paid
That's a good question! Sometimes I wish the roads weren't so great, to pay a little less in taxes!

Plattsburgh and the people are great
I agree!!
It is possible to by a small house in the town of Plattsburgh. With new credit?
