  • Where to Live is usually the first question when moving or relocating to Plattsburgh or the North Country. That question is answered in this video with a map tour and talk about things to consider: where do you expect to work, recreation and hobbies, and commute time. Plattsburgh is HOW CLOSE to Lake Placid, and Montreal? All answered - check it out!!!
    Are you wondering what it is like to live in Plattsburgh or New York's North Country? Well this is the channel you need and you'll want to hit the "subscribe" and alert button to find out when a new videos is posted! I absolutely love living here! I spent over 20 years living in other parts of the region, country and overseas. When it was up to us, we moved back to the Plattsburgh area and have no regrets - except for pockets of our cold, snowy winters. :)
    I work with clients who are looking to discuss options or to sell their local home, and I work with buyers who are interested in buying in the Clinton County NY area - and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE working with them~! Reach out to me anytime if I can help you in any way. I've got your back when moving to Plattsburgh!

    Hello Mr. Jock 👋🏽 If I'll work in Champlain and decide to live in Plattsburgh, do you recommend the commute? How are roads during the winter? Thank you in advance ☺️

      Hey there. I would say it depends on your experience driving in snow. During the winter months, you could be driving in snowy, blowy weather. :)

    I will be trying to come up here in July for my 20th high school reunion. I lived here for about 1yr and graduated in 2001. I had some nice memories because it was high school. Ready to move back if the opportunity presents itself. I am married now with a 4yr old who is very active and enjoy the outdoors. Looking for a decent cost of living for a college graduate like myself and to be able raise a family. Hope you can give suggestions.

    Obviously a sad attempt to sell real estate in Plattsburgh New York. I have lived here for 20 years and there are very few career opportunities if any in the area. As he mentions the word “ City” he laughs a little; our city center is run down and riddled with bars. Not a place to raise children if your interested in having them learn culture or respect for a community.

      I moved to Tulsa from Plattsburgh in 2010. Best career decision I have ever made. My income increased by 40 percent overnight. My cost of living dropped by 30 percent at the same time. Needless to say, I'm far better off because I left there. It's a beautiful area to visit but I will never call the North country home again.

    Hello James. It’s Rose Bell. I don’t live in NY state anymore. I was just feeling a little bit homesick and was looking on TH-cam for something familiar again. It’s been 5 years. Anyway I went to church with you. I just wanted to say hello.

      @@livinginplattsburgh I’m doing okay thanks. I’m just missing familiarity. I’ve been in Virginia now 5 years and my brain still searches for familiar places and faces. I drove an hour today just to go to Dunkin Doughnuts. Believe me I live in a way more populated area than you do. But here in western Virginia. Dunkin is hard to find. You would think after 5 years my brain would now recognize this as being familiar. But it doesn’t. I don’t miss living in NY state though. It’s hard to explain. However, I do very much miss Lake Champlain and seagulls lol. Other than that I’m okay. It’s just something I have to work through.

    Thanks! My kids are moving to Quebec City with their dad in the Fall. I have to stay in the states for my job for now (tech sales-remote) and am looking into towns/cities as close as possible where I can still have a normal life! I’m coming from Silicon Valley... this video is helpful and Plattsburgh looks like it might be a good fit. Thanks again!

    Does the ferry to Burlington operate 24 hours? If not then if you miss the last one in the evening by a few minutes your 20 mile return trip turns into a 75 mile trip. Is that correct?

    • @livinginplattsburgh
      @livinginplattsburgh  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Christopher. the ferry that crosses in Plattsburgh runs 24 hours a day. They also gave 2 or 3 running at a time. otherwise the trip is longer by about 30 minutes. I hope this helps!

    Hi there. In two months I will be moving to Plattsburgh. I would like to know if there is a page to rent homes. I've searched the internet and can't find anything. I would like to get there already having the options.

    • @jamesjock
      @jamesjock 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are some Facebook pages that might be helpful. I found one called "For Rent, Plattsburgh Ny" that has 3,600+ members. Always be cautious and don't send money unless you've seen the inside in person. There are always scams that take advantage of your situation. Our rental market is small, as we're a small community, so landlords do not need or use the help of real estate agents to find renters. I hope this helps. Good luck and welcome to Plattsburgh (soon)! :)

    What if you do not drive a Car?

    • @livinginplattsburgh
      @livinginplattsburgh  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's a little more difficult in small communities. The City of Plattsburgh has a few more options. There is also a regional shuttle bus that connects to other nearby communities. It's not urban transportation that runs several times a day, but scaled to fit our community needs.
