I liked how you used a store bought hat and showed how to modify it. You should so more accessory videos you do such beautiful hand sewing and explain really well. It would be nice to have a few close ups so we can see the details. :)

I don't know why, but trimming this hat made me think of that scene from Pride and Prejudice where Lydia says she was treating the older girls to lunch, only she had to borrow the money from one of them because she spent all her own on a new hat...which wasn't a very nice hat after all and she'll probably pull it to pieces and make it over as soon as she gets home. But still, it was TOTALLY her treat and wasn't that just super-nice of her?
Probably the reason it makes me think of that is because it's the only hat-trimming scene/reference in literature I've ever read.
Lydia may have been a bit of a flake, but I hope you understand that my love for your beautiful hat is real! Thank you so much for showing how you did it, so that I can have a go myself.
I'm so happy you sewed it rather than hotglued it! It's my biggest pet peave haha (and it's horrible stuff!)

A friend of mine is a Milliner, and so if I had used hot glue I wouldn't have heard the end of it 😂 not using glue does make it so much nicer to change it up in the future😄

Thank you for doing this video! I needed a colonial ladies' boater hat for an event and could not find anything close to the original style. This video showed me to create the exact style I wanted to compliment my dress. Your hat turned out beautifully. The tips on how to flattening the crown piece and slightly curl the brim using an iron were great!

This is so clever! I'm trying to sew one out of some straw-like placemats I seam ripped. It's not going nearly as smoothly as this.

The hat is awesome. I rewatched your first video on you planning your wonderful gown, you mentioned you were going to keep a tally of how many cups of tea you drank over the course of you making the gown, Did you keep a tally?
I lost count after 6 months 😅 I know for sure that is was way too much 😉
How did you get the whole frame to be curved?
I loved following you through your DIYs. This one is especially helpful if you want to safe time.
I'm not an expert but is it possible that you placed the decoration on the wrong side of the Bergère hat?
Men traditionally had any bows, feathers or stuff placed to the left for sword fighting reasons. They may've had money for a sword but millinery was expensive and you would want to keep your clothes as long as poasible especially when so richly decorated.
So, you should have placed the roses and feather to your right side of this hat, I think.

Thank you, I don't see why that wouldn't work. if you find that it isn't as flat as you want you could also add wire around the edge.
