Great tasteful tones. Glad you got into midi set up a little, as I was wondering, given you were out of inputs on your switcher after discussing drive section.
Great vid bro! I loved how well you explained each pedal. Personally, I struggle with making good amp tones for worship but it would be cool if you made a vid talking about that.
@@stephenbatesguitar I use a Hotone Ampero Stomp 2 which is known for really good amp sounds. I got excited when I saw the Hotone footswitch on your board lol
What do you find to be more valuable in a live worship setting, being able to run two different delay algorithms/intervals (i.e. dotted + 8th or 8th + dotted like you are doing with the Polymoon and LVX) or two different reverb algorithms at the same time like you can do with the Mercury X), assuming you can run only one algorithm of the opposite effect? For instance, would you find more value in 2 delays and 1 reverb, or 1 delay and 2 reverbs? Can you give a couple examples of why you would answer one way or the other?
Two delays and one reverb 100%. Reason being stacked delays do not sound good in my opinion. It seems to just be a big old wash…. On the other hand, stacked delays are very tasteful as long as you’re doing the right combination of time signatures!
Interesting board, great sounds. I do confess I find the inclusion of a Polymoon (doing fairly simple ping pong) alongside an LVX and MercuryX (which does a discrete stereo delay very capably) a little baffling. LVX + MercuryX also do both do chorus and micropitch at the same, and they both have tuners. Polymoon, POG, tuner, and Mobius could probably all be eliminated IF you wanted to downsize and get the max out of each unit. But I understand wanting an always visible tuner and the workflow advantages of letting each pedal just do one dedicated thing.
Oh yes we are on the same page! 100% not needed with the dual polymoon delay. I do think I will end up using it for very weird sounds as it has the capability to go wild. I definitely know if I wanted to I could get rid of literally 6 pedals and still function totally fine and sound great 😂
He he..I also have a Polymoon and Mercury X on my board.. along with Red Panda Raster 2,Mood 2,Dreadbox Raindrops and more lol..I can't bear to part with my Polymoon..it has a place on my board as the "add stereo goodness to my mono pedals before it pedal..I have it set on a subtle no decay setting.. however occasionally I just play with it on its own and you can't beat an infinite smeared pad going with the slow phaser.. magical still..
Hi Stephen!! Been following you on Instagram for a bit now! Great video! I was wondering where the atmospheric / drivey / stereo / modulating sustain comes from? Would you say it's from the way you push your amps and since they're stereo they kind of dance that way or would you say it's more from the way you dialed in your mercuryx? Sorry if it's a dumb question, just coming from someone who has mono amps placed pre-wet effects and trying to see if it's because of the way I dial in my reverb or just the way my amps are?
Hey man! Thanks for watching… I would say it’s a combination of a bunch bunch of things. One of them actually being the tone press compressor - what it does to my tone makes it really snappy…. Using really good delays and reverbs will give you very nice wide, harmonic, characteristics going into the amps… but yes, I think the amp Sim/amps you’re using is the biggest part. I’m using the IK multimedia Tonex ones and haven’t been happier with my tone. The way they break up is very amp like and they seem to just take a lot of drive and wet FX really well. I would recommend picking some of those up because they are fairly priced as well. Also consider maybe having stereo amps at the end of your chain instead of wet FX .
@@stephenbatesguitar There are so many features that are only available with an EXP pedal! Freeze, glissando, filter, whammy, crossfade, Octave volume. After just a little tinkering with it, I can't imagine not having the POG 3, and certainly not without an EXP. Definitely insane utility, and the possibilities of shaping the sound for worship guitar are not only very high, but so much creativity can be used with so many features that it's not going to be like everybody is doing the same thing on it.

You might double check that those things are possible through midi, because the EXP settings are what changes the mode, and I don't know if all those functions can be handed off to MIDI.
