They are the subtitles from the official English dub, not direct translations of the lines. They changed Haruhi referring to herself in a masculine way (ore) to her referring to others in a masculine way (dude, bro). It is more understandable to English speakers, but I understand your frustration.
Ouran is as much a parody of reverse harems as it is a reverse harem so it *does* purposely get very tropey ^^ The ability of OHSHC to laugh at itself while indulging in all its genre conventions makes it very lovable.
im never 100% sure that haruhi was intended to be an enby since this series (the manga) was made in the early 2000s in japan and i dont think that was a super common concept back then? but im pretty sure haruhi is supposed to have the "spirit" of nonbinary-ness or something like that! its not explicitly said, but since she literally said she doesnt care if people around her see her as a girl, a boy or whatever else, thats definitely what modern audiences would take from that. and i do! back when i first watched this show i was a young teenage girl, not yet knowing that i was bi/pansexual, and i remember always being sooo excited when girls were fawning over haruhi, not knowing she was a girl, and haruhi actually enjoying it! and now i know why,,lmao,,

It looks so good! I especially really liked how the lighting turned out. It really added something to the scene. I feel like the first episode of Black Butler is interesting enough that you could probably find an interesting scene to draw pretty quickly.

I think the subtitles you used were matched more to the dub than the sub's ones. I sort of remember the dude/bro bit. I never liked it as much as subbed because Tamaki's VA is just so amazing, and although Vic, despite all his controversy, was decent I can never hear his voice as anything but identical to Ed, and it just doesn't fit quite as much for Tamaki's character archetype and growth.
I think you're right! It's often hard to tell, but when you only have the option of watching it on one platform, you don't have many options ^^; And YES I can only ever hear Vic's voice as Ed, which then causes me to become distracted trying to watch anything else!
I don't know if it still exists, but before the Funimation subbed version came out, there was a fan-subbed version on TH-cam (done by Lunar Sub, I think) which was way more accurate. Oh and that "punishment" part, I like to think of it as Tamaki's way of keeping Haruhi around without saying it directly. I could be wrong though.
