    Erick, you should really do a podcast! You can do an hour a week. You can talk RPGs, play some of your songs, and talk about and read parts of your book! Just a thought. You'd be awesome at it and I'm sure you'd have a lot of followers too.

    In GBA / Nintendo DS / 3DS my favorite games was fan translated, in ps vita most jrpg was officially localized to English.
    Even tales of heart from DS: namco didn't localized for the 150 million DS user but they did for the 15 million ps vita user...
    Maybe because Nintendo handhelds was "kid consoles" in west? This is why even the 3DS version of dragon quest 11/monster hunter xx wasn't localized, just released later for switch.

    Soma Bringer at 10th? *Triggered!*
    I used to be a part of fan translation scene (and I am a software developer), from a technical point of view, Seiken Densetsu 3 is the most impressive fan translation around. It deals with incredibly hard to crack code (text and graphics are compressed in the rom) and it was the first one (AFAIK) that did it (meaning the tools available were very limited). The guy who led the translation (Neill Corlett) is a legend in the translation scene.

    10. I might try it out.
    9. Not a fan of Strategy RPGs, as I've mentioned a lot already.
    8. I'll definitely try it out.
    7. I really don't like this one, it's very grindy, especially considering it was released in 2007. Then again, you have a choice between this and Tempest, so yeah. I prefer Phantasia on PS1, but I guess you can't consider it because of the GBA version.
    6. I might actually try this one out, just because it looks like it's not based on RNG bullshit, but instead on tournament fighter-esque moves... You know, just like *gasp* how Tales of used to be!
    5. Who hasn't played this one? BTW, I wonder what Japanese people think about Secret of Evermore. There should be a TH-cam channel dedicated to Japanese gamers' opinions of western games. Mostly RPGs, I assume Mass Effect and other Bioware games are pretty popular in Japan, but also more mainstream games.
    4-1. I'm trying to convince my brother to play these, as he's already playing The Binding Blade (why isn't it here, too?) and he's a huge fan of both Fire Emblem and Valkyria Chronicles.
    BTW, where's Mother 3?

    • @ErickLandonRPG
      @ErickLandonRPG  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Removed The Binding Blade from this list because of two reasons: 1.- Too many FE games already on the list. And 2.- It's the least good of the four translated FEs, in my opinion. I will, however, include it on part 2. Now, Mother 3... I've never played it and I am not a fan of Earthbound. At all.

    • @asmodeus58XX
      @asmodeus58XX 6 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Daniel_Coffman
    @Daniel_Coffman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    A spot of curiosity, are the normal attacks of Seiken Densetsu 3/Secret of Mana 2/Trials of Mana done the same way as Secret of Mana or Secret of Evermore where you have to wait between attacks to be able to deal the most damage to enemies? I just personally really don't like that system; I'm far more used to combo-like action RPG's like Trails of Nayuta and could never get into having to wait between attacks when I played Secret of Evermore. Call me impatient if you want, of course, but whatever. Different strokes for different folks.

    Thracia 776 was never going to be released outside of Japan because, among other reasons:
    A ) The series was not established outside of its home country and not a single game had been released up until that point
    B ) It was a Super Famicom game released in 1999 (!!!), well into the fifth console generation (pretty insane for such a big title)
    C ) Thracia 776 was initially only available for the Nintendo Power cartridge, a service that was only available in Japan
    D ) A physical cart WAS eventually released, but at that point it was the year 2000, so yeah....
    E ) The usual disdain Japanese developers held for Western gamers of course ;)

    TH-cam showed me this video today :).
    A yes the tales from ds...so bad it looses the co-op option and i mainly played co-op games in NDS.
    The only two traslated games i have finished are MetalSaga returns and fire emblem.
    So bad i never got my English release of Dragon quest monster joker 3 for the 3ds.

    Where does one get a fan translated copy of Soma Bringer? I have wanted to play one forever, but I'm not terribly emulator savvy-does it require an emulator?

    • @kysierkevin
      @kysierkevin 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes if you are an android user you can pay and download drastic emulator (nintendo ds emukator) then just google soma bringer rom (most probably a zip file) get rar app in play syore and unzip the rom then copy and paste it on the drastic file in your file manager

    This was a great list since it has both Fire Emblem and Tear Ring Saga. Although, I would like to know if there's any possibility of Berwick Saga going on your next list. I know that the translation project is still ongoing, but I think it should count since they have managed to at least translate the first half of the game.

    • @ErickLandonRPG
      @ErickLandonRPG  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, but I don't think a half translated game could make it to my next list, otherwise I would have easily included the first Growlanser or maybe the last Suikoden game (even though it's not that good). But trust me, I'm looking forward to Berwick being translated!

      Over a year later, but the Berwick Saga translation has reached completion. All of the story and menus are done, barring typos and other potential undiscovered issues.

    Loved Fire Emblem Jugdral, but I loved the Elibe games too. You could have just tied the two Jugdral games since you felt it necessary to place the first in 3rd and the sequel in 2nd, it would have been fine, then you could have fit another title onto the list.

      While I usually think just like you in many other videos (watch some others and you'll see that I've fused two games into one position), I feel Genealogy and Thracia are WAY too different for being on the same spot. So I disagree, sorry. Thanks for sharing your point of view, though, I appreciate it.

      I thought it sounded like a battle theme from Motoi Sakuraba, so I assumed it must be from Tales of Innocence. Seems I was right! Here it is: th-cam.com/video/XLn2MMrVRzc/w-d-xo.html
