    Man, yes! The first game that came to my mind when I saw this video was Rhapsody. I thought it would be so obscure that it wouldn't make the list. Absolutely deserving of the number 1 spot on this list.

      Hahaha I bought it twice on PS3 & Switch! Sadly haven’t finished it yet however.. I tried Cosmic Star Heroine the other night and seemed pretty easy & streamlined.. Ni No Kuni 2 is very approachable if not for the tricky land battles and Civilization-Esque empire management

    I'd cast a vote for Lufia 1 on the SNES. Beautiful, charming game that I definitely don't regret my time with, but stupidly simple. It was perhaps the first game that I can remember that gave you stats on things like character deaths at the end of the game, and I ended the game easily with 0 continues and 2 character deaths through the entire play through, and those were due to instant-death spells. As a teen ager. Before cutting my teeth on the Shin Megami Tensei series. That being said, I had fun with it, and even more fun with Lufia 2, which is an SNES gem that seems to have been lost to time.

    I strongly agree with the author of this video when he says not to underestimate a game just because it's easy. I actually hate people who do that, bashing games just because they're not ridiculously hard. Not everyone likes things going from hard to worse (I for one do NOT) and I hate it when because a game is not like that then it gets crushed, very unfair!

      I enjoy a descend challenge and but an easy game can be fun to. Okami is amazing and I did not got a single game over in that one.
      But a good challenge can vastly improve a game. prime example being Kingdom Hearts 2. The critical difficulty and the optional super bosses that it added made it so much better.

    Currently playing Magical Starsign and can confirm that its ease doesn't detract from the overall charm of the game. It's even got a good amount of social commentary written into the comedy. Something I love about the girly games is that they aren't as repetitive in terms of story, aesthetics, and archetypal (lazy) character work. Starsign isn't some kind of masterwork, but it doesn't build its world entirely out of cliches, and that's really refreshing.

    The ENTIRE Arland Trilogy is a two-side coin... they might be the easiest of all time imho, but could be one of the hardest if you want all the endings and all sidequests done, including all hidden bosses. But yesss, they are totally easy on main story-normal ending side (including Totori, btw)

    Golden sun dark dawn:What is difficulty?What do u mean bosses must be challenging?I like the game but it's not as great as the first 2 and it's laughably easy
    -Fire emblem Sacred stones:Way easier than the previous 2,the fact that u can train your characters makes it even easier.
    -Children of mana:Sometimes i can forgive repetitive games but this game is also very easy,it doesn't have much to draw you in
    Honorable mention,FF8 because u can break the game from the first disc with the whole card/item refine system

    • @ErickLandonRPG
      @ErickLandonRPG  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't know you could break FF8 with that. I never beat it because, like many other gamers, I fell into its trap of overusing the GFs (summons) to beat the crap outta everybody...only to die miserably at the end, over and over again.

      Aah,you must focus on the limit breaks and upgrading your weapons,you really want the lionheart cause squall's limit break is overpowered as hell(over 240K damage).The only spells u need to use really are Haste,Aura and meltdown to exploit the triangle to the maximum.Squall,Irvine and zell have the most damaging limit breaks.

    And..... I've never heard of a single game on this list other than Half Minute Hero (which I've never played). I was half expecting Final Fantasy Mystic Quest to be on this list, because it was designed at its core to be a Baby RPG but oddly enough, the game is actually far more hard than you think it should be (assuming you don't exploit a few ridiculous glitches). A couple of the bosses will throw you for a loop and the last boss is ludicrously hard (compared to the rest of the game) assuming you don't exploit glitches. That said, trying to rate challenge in an RPG is difficult -- JRPGs are usually built around the fact that you set your own challenge by how much XP you decide to grind (or don't).
    Many mainstream JRPGs can be made pathetically easy by grinding, and grinding itself is never a challenge -- it only tests your patience and how long you are willing to grind, how long you're willing to wait to progress into the game's story. If you grind enough, though, you can make many games ridiculously easy to the point it is almost impossible to lose. I remember once, family member and I worked on a BoF3 save where we farmed stat up items where everybody had 999 attack with pointed sticks and everybody got EX turns against the fastest enemy in the game, and everybody had 999 defense with no armor equipped just for fun. Easiest RPG ever, right? Well obviously not, because BoF3's final dungeon is actually rather difficult. Normally. Unless you crazy grind it.

    • @ErickLandonRPG
      @ErickLandonRPG  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed on Mystic Quest, which is why I didn't include it. And yes, most JRPGs, especially the mainstream ones, are just nothing than a grindfest to make them feel as a walk in the park.

    I hate to admit but I'm not yet an RPG veatren so I prefer my JRPGs to be on the easy side. I play them mostly for the story anyway. And sadly I have not played enough to make a top 10. I guess I'm already familiar with how they work tho. I do know of an extremely easy JRPG tho which is Akiba'Strip. I think i beat the game 5 times lol.

    Ha Ha! I loved Fantasy Life. I spent more time in that game than any other. Over 500 hours and didn't 100 percent it. It was easy and that's why I liked it. I didn't constantly die in battles. Repetitive? Somewhat, though not any more than grinding for hours in other JRPGs. And being easier, I actually moved forward. That's what makes games great though... Something for everyone! Great video! P. S. Both my daughter and I played Magical Starsign when she was about 7 and I have such fond memories of it.

  • @martinomagic9230
    @martinomagic9230 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Golden Sun series is extremely easy, I really like the games because I love puzzles and I think they look amazing for being hand held games. But it was really frustrating they had super cool battles with all kinds of skills you can combine and do awesome stuff. But you never actually have to do any of that if you just auto attack you can always win. That is probably it would be near the top of my list just for the reason of having complex systems that are not even needed.

    • @ErickLandonRPG
      @ErickLandonRPG  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I found those two games to be fair enough; not easy but not hard. Battles are easy, yes, even bosses, but what made me exclude them for the list was the fact that some dungeons or puzzles are really hard or annoying.

    • @martinomagic9230
      @martinomagic9230 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree the puzzles were harder than the battles, it just really frustrates me how much effort they put into the battle system only to make it not needed.
      It would be the similar if Fire Emblems rock,paper,scissors mechanics didn't actually matter and you could one shot someone with any character. Its just such a shame because the Golden Sun games are really awesome and would of probably been some of the top RPGs ever if they had made use the potential they put into the battles!

    • @ErickLandonRPG
      @ErickLandonRPG  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the same logic as the classic meme "Save all those cool items for the final battles" and you never use them, hahaha. Golden Sun didn't force players to exploit its battle system, it was kind of an optional thing. Not to defend the games but I don't think the devs made that on purpose.

    • @martinomagic9230
      @martinomagic9230 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha that is true with the items for sure one of the reasons I love the Tales series where you can put it on nightmare or chaos mode so you have to use everything in your arsenal to win.I really liked the Golden Sun games, Lufia 2 and Wild Arms being some of my favorite games ever no way I couldn't loved a puzzle JRPG.
      In reality its more rare to have a RPG be hard then not as most problems can be fixed with just a few more levels. I think that is why the ones that manage to be hard and have good stories stand out so much!

      @newageBoundhippie 6 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @kodytiffany5686
    @kodytiffany5686 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    #7 is one that is so easy it is hard.
    My current play through is a dud; because without realizing I was doing it I ran out of time to do everything I need to; it is so easy to think 3 months/years (whichever it was) and feel that is plenty of time why hurry? why to hurry a little in the game is that it can take weeks of in game time to complete some quests in order to boost the population enough to succeed; I underestimated how long I needed to get stuff done and am stuck in a month or less long death loop.
    If unlike me you possess time managment skills at all you should be fine. Great game though.

  • @TrulySilentLie
    @TrulySilentLie 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I think with the Atelier games, the easy difficulty is only if you don't care about getting the best ending, since getting those actually requires a lot of planning and strategizing, plus knowing the systems in and out so you don't use up too much time, especially Rorona requires a lot of work for it's best ending. I'd say it's the hardest of the Arland trilogy to get all endings actually

    • @shinsukesama8665
      @shinsukesama8665 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TrulySilentLie do the "Plus" versions work the same for getting the best endings? I only have Roroona Plus game on my Vita, I got it long time ago for a trivial price. Anyways, I'm not too experienced in JRPGs aside from the action oriented ones. Knowing that if i choose to play "Easy" can I still get what you call the best ending? I love to complete my games as much as possible before moving on so I'd like an advice on that.

    I think your really missing the point with atelier, sure running it once it super easy in fact you can skip all the dialog to get it done fast, but getting the events done for the platinum is really hard idk if it's possible after 1 run or running through it blindly without a guide (and the extra bosses require a good build for your equip, along with bomb production). Also both Totori and Meruru were actually made to be more lenient with the time system than Rorona actually. The reason I said dark souls was easy is because you just use the best magic for insane DPS on bosses without getting close, it could've easily made this list (and you don't gotta run it alot of times for a platinum, maybe twice for spells/miracles). Pokemon red and blue are also one of the easiest JRPGs I've played as well, there's more glitches in the game than people realize, watch the fastest speedrun of it and tell me what you think.

    I beat Final Fantasy II for the SNES (Final Fantasy IV Easy Type in Japan) in a little over 24 hours. It was the first JRPG I beat. That game was a cakewalk, ESPECIALLY after you have *spoiler* Edge throw the spoon at Zeromus. Huh, I think that's why The Tick's battle cry is "Spoon!", but then again maybe not.

      The DS version, as well as the rest of the versions excluding the GBA, were based on FF IV: Hard Type. In it the entire enemy party attacks each time a Party Member takes an action. A lot of the cut contentent was restored as well. The GBA version is just a direct port of the US SNES version sadly.

    Surprised there's no mention of Super Mario RPG. One of the very best and very easiest RPG's of all time. As was intended, of course. Also Mother 3 is incredibly easy if you remember ONE THING.... and that is... USE DEBUFFS ON ALL BOSSES. Debuffs are way more OP in Mother 3 than any other RPG ever and they are insanely exploitable. The only boss fight that should EVER give anyone even the slightest bit of difficulty is Miracle Fassad.

  • @Seekarr
    @Seekarr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I find the easiest RPGs come from the later years of the SNES and the early years of the PSX. I've played probably 150+ RPGs, the easiest I can think of are Final Fantasy 6 and 7. Final Fantasy 6, IMO, is easier than FF7 because FF7 has a few difficulty spike areas. Mario RPG is probably the next easiest, FF4 and Chrono Trigger are also fairly easy, but both are still quite a bit more difficult than FF6 and 7. Pokemon games are also super easy, and they're RPGs too (although more like virtual collector games which use an RPG battle mechanic to grind development). IMO FF6 or FF7 are the best beginner RPGs.

    • @Seekarr
      @Seekarr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, IMO, easy doesn't mean bad. I generally enjoy easy RPGs more than difficult ones because for me the fun in them is growing my characters, exploring a world, and experiencing a great/fun story... sometimes difficulty just gets in the way of that and slows things down. Although, I'm the opposite when it comes to strategy RPGs, I much prefer them to be difficult (although better balanced than FFT which at several points throws you in weird 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 battles that are WAAAY more difficult than the final boss of the game).

Star Ocean 4 I didn't play long cause it was easy feeling. But maybe I should have given them longer changes. Probably was impatient. Suikoden 4 I didn't find that challenging. Final Fantasy 8 was super easy. 15 was basically a movie. The challenging part would be to die on purpose lol.

    I turned this on and the Suikoden III music was on, and I was like 'No way, Suikoden III is probably the toughest of the Suikoden games'. I think this list is about *good* easy rpgs
    The easiest and worst rpg I have ever played is Lunar Legend on GBA .... I'll talk about the easy side ... Forget the strength of your enemies , forget the equipment , forget grinding ... What if I told you that throughout my experience of that game I couldn't get a game over screen because when a character dies , the game automatically revives him/her . So to lose a battle , all your characters must die ... In one turn ... Even in Final Fantasy series which include some of the hardest RPG don't just kill the entire party with one move ... Let alone a game like Lunar

  • @DuelingDragonAdventures
    @DuelingDragonAdventures 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Man. Grandia was without a doubt the easiest JRPG I've ever played next to Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. The game kept showering you with healing items and I never had to use any of them. I 1-shotted almost every random battle in the game and none of the bosses posed any challenge. In fact the only challenge was trying to level up my characters, since unless I intentionally made Justin skip his turn, none of them ever got a chance to attack.

      some people dont seem to mind it, saying the games are story focused anyway, but the game also has a cheat mode which gives you max stats from the start specifically for the purpose of enjoying the story, so i dont get why they made the normal game so much easier. you get tonnes of exp and monsters are pretty much training dummies. there are people working on a difficulty mod for the pc version, but since its not exactly a popular game, and half the fanbase doesnt seem to care at all, progress is very very slow. ive actually put off playing it until someone fixes the difficulty because its just pointless at the moment.
