- The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are finally here I want to do a buyer's guide on both of these phones because there are more differences than ever between the regular and pro models, and there are a lot of confusing specifications that Apple did not do a good job going over in their presentation. So in this video, I'll do my best to go over all the details before you preorder your iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro, tell you the differences between the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro max, and talk about some of the key differences that should have you pick one model over the other.

I went from the 11 with 64gb of storage to the 14 with 256gb of storage. I’m extremely satisfied with the amount of storage I now have.

@@ayericky4903 i have roughly 40 apps and i download some episodes or seasons from prime video or netflix, i have 4000 videos and pictues, still never above 80 GB of storage, and when im done watching downloaded episodes i just delete them, back down to 60 GB :D

I traded in my 8 plus on a 14 pro max 256. I really like it so far. I don’t tend to upgrade every year or so but, this year I thought it was time. I’m still trying to get used to it but, at the end of the day, YES !! I’m glad I went for it!

Both my husband and I are having difficulties with our phones. His is an iPhone 7 and mine is an iPhone 8 so we’re lost when it comes to phones now. We’re perfectly happy with our old phones and wouldn’t be getting news ones if we didn’t have to. We like our money in our wallets better than in our phone.

Amazon has some good deals on refurbished models some are 3rd party(so check their ratings!) and some are “premium renewed” by amazon. Those are generally a little more money due to their 1 year warranty.

I just got the 14 pro max. It’s great. But also expensive. I won’t be upgrading for a few years and wouldn’t have if I didn’t break the old one. But it was worth it when I needed it
upgrade from 11 , the screen is a night and day difference, the iPhone 14 promax feels extremely premium and operation of the phone is very seamless my iPhone 11 that I had as much slower I love the 14 promax, I thought the iPhone 11 was an indestructible phone. This is even more stronger.

@@ksm1985 I don't know man I've had the samsung a21s since the release, Just wanted a budget phone that works. And till today it was just so boring. Planning to get the iPhone 14 pro since it's now actually worth it's price. Android is fine but it gets boring fast, the design isn't that eye catching either.

I got a iPhone 14 Pro Silver 512GB. I normally get the 256GB, but since I’m keeping this one for three years, and not upgrading annually, I figured I’d get more storage.
Excellent video. TY!! I’m going to go get one of the 14 pro’s. I’m currently with my iPhone 8 Plus from about 6 years ago. I hang onto these phones until the battery requires almost constant charging! Then get a new one and bask in the joy! 😂 I still I hate the transition part. It is helpful to know about the larger gig needs, so thanks again!

I was thinking of getting a Pro model with 128GB storage. I think if you already have an Apple cloud storage plan then that data will be backed up there anyways and you don’t have to necessarily keep unwanted files native on your local storage.

Totally agree with you about Storage, I just got a Galaxy Note 10 Plus few months ago and the base model is 256gb. Coming from 64gb it totally changed the way I use my phone. Made it so much more fun and useful being able to do and download anything I want and update as many times as I want without making a dent in the storage. I don't know if I could go back and be happy, they should've made 256gb the base pro model starting at the same starting 1099 price.
the 256gb pro is 1099 128 is a base which is offered "cheaper" idk why 256 SHOULD be a base if cheaper is an option to those that want to spend 100$ less for less. No reason to remove it outright i personally dont want to FILL one or be a content creator myself so i dont really need 256gb of storage bc i also dont game with my phone either. Just going to use it for a streaming webcam and want the pro for its added feature support when i do capture content. Ive never owned an iphone but 100$ price difference doesnt mean much to me when the majority of flagships cost around the same from t-mobile. Im just ready for a change from android and have the spare cash and it all happens to just be the time the 14 is out. Ill pay an extra 100$ if the camera is going to be better, and im planning on using it for a few years. PLUS purple is my favorite color so theyve suckered me with that color option NGL. Now if the 15 happens to offer MAJOR upgrades ID consider selling my 14 for the 15 and moving towards using my phone more professionally i genuinely wish they offered a true OS on their i pad air now that they have their apple chips in them and are serving as potential laptop replacements. Considering theyre just glorified i phones these days its what pushed me towards getting an i phone over a tablet and just merging the idea into my phone space.

I love the new pro models , but way too heavy, willing to sacrifice the dynamic island for a much more comfortable weight.
Although the 14 pro max is very appealing and tempting but I’m afraid of the weight. Considering getting the iPhone 14 plus jus for a lighter phone with a big screen purposes.
I am actually still enjoying my iPhone X. It has been almost 5 years and never have had a problem with it. I decided to upgrade my phone to an iPhone 14 Pro Max 1 TB and will try a bigger screen this time a better camera and bigger storage.
Really well presented and well executed video. Scenes of London were fantastic which were missing from your last video. So learn from the experience. Only thing is if you haven’t got an iPhone 13 you’re clueless on this. What are the products are on the market. I am from Scotland, UK. I have just pre ordered the iPhone 14 pro max in purple. For me it's the camera that I am excited about. I have always felt that Iphone takes better photos. Also better battery life and the dynamic island, I made fun of it. Well I think its actually a really cool idea incorporating it into the OS. Great video Greg. Love your content.

@@ItzCrypticClipz oh definitely! I did get like $700 in trade in value so that was a big deciding factor for me. But battery size, performance, swiping smoothness, etc., I have seen a huge improvement!
I’m still sitting on my iPhone 6s with a miserable battery-life and I think it’s time for me to finally upgrade.
I’m routing for the iPhone 14 Pro, that Dynamic Island is something I just don’t wanna miss out on and all the other general improvements.
This is gonna be a HUGE upgrade for me and I can’t wait to hold that thing in my hands!

Today my iPhone 14 Pro, 256 GB, Space Black, finally arrived and I’m already flashed by pretty much everything the phone has to offer.
I am VERY pleased and even tho I liked my iPhone 6s it was just a pain to use.
Im freed from all the lagging while using the phone and carrying my powerbank everywhere I go!

I just updated from an 8 plus to a 14 plus, the light purple. I am loving it, it so beautiful, so light and the battery is fantastic! My Apple watch 8 has the screen on all the time so I didn't need that on my phone. Great video

@@tahliablom I got it and it's pretty fookin awesome with a Ghostek case and screen and camera protectors. The battery hasn't really budged all day, only texted and surfed. No pics or heavy video watching yet. I'm thinking of getting the SafeMag Apple battery pack if it's discounted for black friday. All the other mag packs get too hot and can damage the battery. Ghostek case is the key in my opinion. It's lightweight but comparable to the weight of my iphone 7 plus which died due to updates and apps I think, a little heavier.

@@nataliarayne1427 I like it. But honestly compared to the 13 pro max , at least in my experience , the battery drains a little quicker. Still lasts all day so it’s good. But it could just be from the always on display and extra brightness. And the dynamic island is a nice feature too I especially like it for when playing music

I keep my phone in a case, after learning my lesson with my iPhone SE the hard way, so the the sides could be made of silly putty for all I care. MY MAIN CONCERN with these models is the eSIM. I travel to Japan and like being able to get a SIM when I get there.

The dynamic island kind of reminds me of the lg v10 in terms of the functions the second display held at a glance. I hope it ends up being just as useful, because I honestly ended up using the second display on the v10 way more than I thought I would
XD i had a v20 nice for seeing texts on the go. G8X was a nice PHONE really loved the dac amp and duel screen for games/discord chat simultaneously. I was going to wait for a duel screen i phone....but my g8x is now cracked/broken...and im on a moto go power burner. I think its time i owned a purple iphone 14 pro.

Just switched from iphone 7 to 14, been using it since 2017 and yes iphone 7 really is a great phone. Unfortunately it broke and the repair cost is just not worth to spend, no choice but to change phone. I admit without the traditional home button, I kind of having some difficulties adopting iphone 14 lol.
Slight correction to your video Greg. Looks like only the U.S. is having eSIM-only. Canada is also part of the North American continent and looking on this country's Apple Store, we will be keeping the Nano SIM tray as well as the eSIM option in our iPhone 14/Plus and iPhone 14 Pro/Max phones. Always nice to have options!

Super easy choice. Regular iPhone 14 because that’s the one we have now as a standard company phone. Out went the iPhone 11 Pro which I was able to acquire 2 years ago because it was the standard for maybe a month back then.

iPhone 14 Pro Max. It’s all down to cameras, screen and battery life. The new dynamic island look nice, but could be a buggy feature in the beginning. :) And very importantly the satellite connectivity seems like something very useful, even if my country is 90-95% covered. Let’s see if it’s even available.
Any model would be an upgrade from iPhone 7, except how weight and pocketability.

I used my iPhone 7 plus more than 5 years and last month it suddenly stopped working out of nowhere. The battery life was still really good for a 5+year old phone. I’ve ordered 14 pro and will get it in my hands within a week, it’s gonna be a big upgrade woo!

As someone with a iPhone XR 64 gig (which is already full) upgrading to the iPhone 14 Pro Max 512 gig, will be a huge upgrade for me and improved battery compared to the XR with 94% battery health.
Update on my storage usage on the iPhone 14 Pro Max 512:
I’ve already used up 102 gigabytes already with it being heavily used by Photos/Videos and Apple Music downloads that’s considering that I still haven’t transferred my photos from my XR
i also have a XR 64gb and was considering a 128 would u think it would be enough for the 14 pro max

If you’re wanting the better resolutions, go with at least 256 GB (same stipulations as last year for 4k footage). But if that’s not a priority, go with the base model. If just having storage to grow into, I’d say at least 512 gb
I have a gold iPhone XS Max 256GB and I’ve ordered a gold iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB. Gold was the only color I could get on launch day. I wanted space black but I still like gold I’m glad purple wasn’t the only one available for launch day.
I enjoyed the video Greg. Thanks for the tips. Draw some attention to the fact that Apple hasn’t released a red iPhone Pro. Some people said it’s because the Pros are more like Pro consumers, and this more conservative, but now there’s a purple phone. And now Apple hasn’t released a red case either, which I do not get at all.
This is why I don't switch to a new iPhone as soon as a new model comes up. It's not worth it unless there's a significant improvement. I have been sticking with my iPhone Xs max for a few years and it's still going strong. iPhone 14 pro might be worth switching to.
So I was originally going to just wait another year before purchasing a new iPhone, as I have the IPhone 11 and it works great still. However, I realized I can get $800 in trade in value if I trade in with AT&T and purchase one of the iPhone 14 models. Which is absolutely crazy to me! I’m still thinking about it, but I’m highly considering getting the IPhone 14 pro because of this! Great video,, btw!

I can get $800 in trade in too with Verizon.. we’ve been using Verizon my whole life so idk if it’s because I’m a long standing Verizon customer or it that’s just standard for my iPhone 11 Pro Max

I would not expect too much from the higher brightness, because brightness is a logarithmic thing. To reach one nuance more of additional brightness, you do not need not add a fixed amount of light, but instead multiply the amount of light by a certain factor. That's why photographers talk about "stops" when it comes to exposure. One stop brighter exposure means you need twice the amount of light (or twice the ISO), for two stops you need four times the amount of light and so on. So the difference between 1,000 nits and 2,000 nits is just one stop of brightness. If you wanted five stops more brightness, you would need 32,000 nits instead.
People are not aware how large the difference of brightness is between a sunny day and a night that is only illuminated by the moon. The sunny day is thousands of times as bright. No smartphone display in the world can compensate for that difference. All you can achieve is making the content somehow readable.
I'm confused. I spend a lot of time in the pool during the day. Sometimes my 13 mini get's to where I absolutely can't see it; especially I think if it starts to get hot. Are you stating the 14PRO with 2000 nits would not be dramatic improvement?
@@claytondelanie The improvement is likely noticeable, but 2000 nits are not as much brighter than 1000 nits for example as most people think. You can test that with two lamps. Two of course will be brighter than one, but it will not look twice as bright.

To be honest, I wasn’t planning on upgrading from my 12 Pro Max, at least until a USB-C model becomes available. Sadly, I may have to upgrade since my ultrawide lens stopped working earlier today, and I’m getting messages about it being a non genuine camera outside of warranty.
Did you get your phone directly from apple or second hand? Most of my friends have the 12 model and have zero issues with their cameras.
@@ChrissieMarie19 I got it from Apple directly and never had a third party repair or Apple repair. For some reason, both the telephoto and ultrawide lenses stopped working. Hoping that a restore fixes it. Otherwise, I think I’ll be getting the 14 Pro if the cost to repair is greater than the balance left on my payment plan.
EDIT: Discussing with Apple Support, running diagnostics, and restoring the phone did not resolve the issue. Waiting on callback tomorrow for repair options, but anything more than my remaining balance might force my hand. I love taking pics with the Pro cameras

@@danielcn7486 Yeah. I spoke to the Apple support rep. They want $640 to repair the camera since I’m out of warranty. I would do the self service repair program, but it’s too much of a hassle to get the equipment needed, and the window of time to return the equipment is too narrow. Ended up ordering a 14 Pro since I’m going on a hiking trip at the end of the month and want to take good pics.

I purchased the iphone14 plus first then I decided to go with the iphone Pro. I changed my mind because of the bigger camera size and the Dynamic Island!! I just got it today at 2:50pm Im watching some youtube videos before I transfer my old phone over. I made the mistake last time when I puchased the iphone 8plus doing it over the phone the lady helping me acidenly erased all my pictures. I was upset yes but this time I will either go to the store and have them set it up for me or watch some videos on transfering my old phone over before I do it myself this time. Cant wait Im so excited been awhile since Ive had a new updated iphone. Hope everyone enjoys theirs as mu c h as I will.
With no price increase this year and being on the iPhone Upgrade Program that allows me to upgrade each year, I'm definitely going to upgrade from my 13 ProMax 1TB Sierra Blue to the 14 ProMax 1TB Deep Purple. @@Evermore2017 You can enroll through Apple. As long as you have paid off half the loan (made 12 payments) you are free to upgrade each year as long as you send your current phone back to Apple and then your previous loan is closed and you just start paying in the new phone you receive. If you don’t want to upgrade in a given year you just make the remaining 12 payments on your phone and then you own it outright.

I have spectrum mobile and they were running a deal that if you get a phone from them you can get another phone from them and the phone bill will be free for a year, so I’m paying for my phone and my bill and paid for another phone and let my mom have that one with the free phone bill so she could get a new phone and don’t have to pay a phone bill.
I’m going from a normal iPhone 12 to a iPhone 14 Pro. The new features pretty much linked up with what I was hoping for.

imma be honest, I still have an iPhone 11. Obviously the base 14 would be a huge upgrade. However, I don't take a lot of photos, and the center dynamic,ic island doesn't seem worth the price. However, I do plan on keeping the phone for a while. Would you think it would be worth spending the money on the 14 pro over the 14 for that reason? I also never had an iPhone pro, so maybe having one would really change my mind. My biggest concern is battery. But I don't want a max. I prefer a smaller phone.

I think it’s time for me to upgrade. I’ve had my iPhone 11 Pro Max for 3 years now and even though it’s been amazing, I love the dynamic island on the iPhone 14 Pro.

Many thanks for this interesting comparison! I will go for the 14 pro 512 Go, but not the max: as l already have two iPads (the air & the mini), a bulky phone would not make sense to me. I wish they sold an iPhone 14 mini, however.
i wish they offered fuller featuresque OS for the i pad air/i pad now that their chips offer far more potential towards being a laptop replacement if the OS was permitting. Yet APPLE doesnt want to cut into mac book air sales. VS setting their sights on PC users.
They would’ve sold one but the 13 mini didn’t sell very well so they dropped it

I'm still on the iPhone 8 Plus. iPhone 14 (non-Pro) looks like the best deal for me. I don't need ProMotion (since I'm not used to it on my phone yet) and I like the better selfie camera on the 14. I also don't think the telephoto lens looks that great on the iPhone 13 Pro so I don't think it will be so great on the 14 Pro either.
Actually the wide angle lens is different too which may cause me to reconsider.

Same choice but 1TB for me. Once you go Pro, it's hard to get anything less. Match it with the Ultra watch and call it a day. I'll probably not buy any Apple products for another 2-3 years cos that's the circle for their good products.
never owned an iphone been on the fence since the X as a loyal LG/quad dac user for 3 generations of their phones optimus G, V20, G8X duel screen. But damned if that PURPLE add and launch DIDNT HAVE ME...die hard fan of purple the new camera is pretty awesome too as far as an added value sentiment to owning the 14 for a while. I got spoiled/used to my g8x having a quad dac though...i could have sound mixers....discord up isolated, playing a turn based card game...and playing tidal master with good playback. Most phones just cant do this let alone chat in discord and play a game at the same time or watch a full screen video/movie and chat in discord simultaneously. Its going to be a shift for sure
I got the same but the 128gb, I don’t feel like I’ll use it. When I had the 64gb I didn’t even come close to maxing out on storage
My 12pro max got stolen - since then I am on the iPhone X and using partially the iPhone 13 from my company (with limitations from company) - I ordered now a 14 - I got used to the size - the image quality of the iPhone 13 look great so 14 should look bit better - the dynamic island is like the touchbar of the MacBooks - more a gimmick than anything else - always on no need - the only thing i will miss is the telephoto… also the pros are super expensive in Europe - so to finally have a phone again - I choose the 14 - I am an iPhone dude ever since and always got the biggest and greatest - but this year was more like „nah“ - maybe next year changing to 15pro again :) with usb C hopefully - still don’t get the 14 bashing - the „s years also didn’t change much in looks“
