I have two presa canario that are almost 3 years old and are liter mate brother and sister. Socialization is the KEY!!! The male has been with me all over the United States as I drive a semi and highly socialized. The male thinks you're weird if you don't want to meet and pet him. The female has been with my wife at the house with very little socialization. The female is suspicious of everything and everyone. They are completely two different dogs. Socialization means taking them with you out in public on a regular basis and basic training. If that's not your cup of tea, then don't get one. Get something that lays around, and you don't have to put much work into. This is a dog lover's dog, not something you just pet, feed, ignore, and snap a few dog pictures to post on social media.

Perfectly put! My male dogs name is Stones and he is the same lol thinks you’re weird if you don’t want to meet and pet him. No body rub means an unhappy Stones 😂

It's not the key for a 100 percent of these breed or other breeds like he said yes train and socails as early as you can but always keep it mind these things will not always work my presa has all of this and above my females are fine to around people outside of the family but my male isn't we have got him to the point where by his less reactive and won't drag me across the road but God forbid a person who allows their dog off lead without 100 percent recall comes into his personal space that dog is unfortunately going to be hurt so this bs about its the owner and training and socialising isn't true some dogs are breed to only except their own families and nothing more and this is okay we can't put human wants and needs onto a dog forcing them to socialise when they don't want to all we can do is ensure that we have control over them and have that off switch

Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games th-cam.com/users/postUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

I have owned 3 Rottweilers, 2 German Shepherds, 1 Douge De Bordeaux, and 1 Belgium Malinois, and 1 Presa Canario. Of all the dogs I have worked with in obedience, IPO, and home protection they were all good, but the Presa Canario had the hardest temperament and would never back down! The Malinois was the absolute fastest learner and willingness to be obedient. Also my Malinois did not fear anything period! He would bite and hold on both arm and leg sleeves like his life depends on it and it was a joy to watch him work. Never tired and always up for something new! Dogs are a great asset in the right hands with correct training!

    • @dreeree4416
      @dreeree4416 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

You say you’re malinois didn’t fear anything and would hold a bite well, whether it was arm or leg… but can you explain your bitework experience with the Presa? Are they equally as fearless and how are they in bitework?

Thank you thank you for stressing how much these dogs aren’t for anyone and how important researching these dogs are. We took 4 years before getting one and chose a very good kennel. We did check out her family history as well EVERYDAY IS A TRAINING DAY!!! We socialized her at 7 weeks while she was still with the breeders! She is such a good girl but she of course can be very intense if WE ALLOWED IT. YOU ARE HANDS DOWN AMAZING DUDE! We respect you so much.

I'm a recent subscriber and first of all, it's somewhat touching that one of the breeds we are more proud of over here is so much of your liking. A very special breed, not to be trifled with, and with a military past that dates a few centuries back to the times in which the "Alano Español" was brought to the Americas. But it's your content I want to congratulate you for. Few times in my life have I watched dog related content so well and clearly explained. You nailed it. They're not for most people, and if you don't become boss, they will. And then you have a problem.
Keep up the good work. You have another avid subscriber from now on.

What a great video!! I got my 1st Pressa from SoCal Pressa. She is 3 years old and 130 lbs. I had Bullmastiffs for the last 25 years. I love this breed!! But like you said, crazy protectors. Someone broke into my side gate last week. My girl got out at 6am. She sat on my front sidewalk for 4 hours and didn't mess with anyone walking by, with or without a dog.

Excellent video and excellent puppies. After working with perro di presas all my life (35+years but not a professional breeder or trainer) I can say that all of your advise is spot on! Especially the piece about having a loaded gun at the end of the leash. I love presas and I currently have a male (3yo) and a female (7yo) which I adopted after being abandoned by their respective owners. Definitely not an easy feat! Finally someone with influence to stress the fact that these dogs are not for every kid out there wanting to impress their friends!

Seen my first one in person and he was a great looking dog! was out running and getting off the local trail a guy had him with his young son as they were getting on to the trail, the presa looked at the guy and his son an looked at me then back at them, he never showed any aggression but he was definitely setting what he thought was an appropriate distance for me to keep. I asked the guy how he was with kids and other dogs and he said he was the best dog he ever had.

Got a Presa/doberman mix trained her to be a loyal companion to my little sister. She's so good with her follows her around everywhere. Protective but not aggressive unless provoked. She's super obedient as well easy for my little sister to control and she knows her place in the family. Im considering either 2 full presa canario for my farm or boerboels.

@@CuteFunnyAnimalsTV-yk7hbI have to disagree, just my experience, boerbels are so powerful and so strong that you need to not only have them seriously well trained but you gotta be real physically strong just to withstand the storm, the same goes for presa, very powerful but not to the extent of boerbels, they're easy to train and along as you super socialise them they can be great with dogs and cats and children, my 4 month old pup is a super genius, she's taken to training so well but regardless I know she has the capability to cause tragedy, she's trained twice a day, everyday, and that's a lifetime commitment training arrangement

Exactly at all! I had a Presa Canario with dog's experiences (German Shepherd & Boxer). The spanish breeders said, it's a bad idea to take a presa canario as a single woman. I didn't believed it.
Constantly training, but they're so intelligent and stubborn, to follow their own way in some situations.
    For example:
My male dogo likes all people, BUT he can smell, when a man likes me more than normal and starts to make these persons afraid .
A conversation isn't possible (barking) and he gives them a space about 2,5 m ( away from me)....but not one cm more!
If he don't agree to let someone into the house, I know about the background.
It's impossible to stop these muscle power packets per leash, when they freak out!
In my case, it was impossible, to change his behavior.
All other commands are working perfect and he's the best dog ever. He loves kids, too.
He protected me at night from a man ( hiding behind bushes). I could save his life ( sadly) and called : "Run or he kills you! "....and run to turn the leash around the tree to hold my dog.
They're not like other dogs and yes, there should be a man with a natural dominance and experience.
Well, they're the perfect protection. They know about the danger, before you know what's going on and you can trust them in these moments.... I agree - they're a weapon.
The spanish breeders knew about their strong personality.
I agree at all to these competent video.
The most presa canarios coming to shelters with 1 - 1,5 years! It's very sad.

I love my male Presa Canario. He is 4 years old and my son is 3.5 years old. That 6 months was more than enough to imprint and train him and establish his place in the family. They are very loyal and smart but they need a constant alpha presence or they will try whoever they think they can. He is unfixed. Now that he is older he is good with company and neighbors but still very suspicious of any stranger or acquaintance. They are NOT dog friendly. It does not matter what sex or breed. If you have or plan to get more that 1 dog with a Presa then never let them be unsupervised together. That is just their nature. No amount of socialization will change the nature of a well bred Presa… I recommend PresaMania for a great breeder in Texas! But this video is correct, it is not the rig he dog for 99% of people.

I have two older females thay are one and two years my male presa is now 5m.. we had him from 8weeks gets on very well with the girls the eldest female literally has the male on the floor submissive towards her constantly and we allow this as his to never be the top dog in this house but i agree outside of the family they are an issue and you can train and correct all you want most of these types are not going to change which does seem mad people see how my male is at home with the kids me the other dogs and the house rabbit and see his other side but then realise what his like outside and cant believe the difference.
We have trained and keep traing to be less re active but as soon as you relax and start enjoying your walk is the moment he starts up again so its a pain to have to be constantly on him like an helicopter mom lol 😆
But other then that we have ours in a apartment and i think it does well for him as he has to constantly be around different people and dogs when going the toilet and that in turn turns into a training session in its self just for a wee but every day everything he does has to be a reminder of what we expect of him our next task is public transport with a muzzle 😂 god not going to be fun

@@Sophiastemureviews that is awesome! I hope that everything stays in order and your next phase with the muzzle goes smoothly… my dog has been socialized more than anyone here would think, but I still have to muzzle him when we go out.. if you saw the sire to his litter though (Roscoe from PWA Presas With Attitude) then it would all make sense.. Roscoe is a baaaad mamma jamma and a lot of the same traits definitely in my dog, but mine is just a little bit bigger. I keep him in breed standard though, not more than 130ish pounds. We all know that the same breed can be very different with different lines. I definitely paid for the line that I thought had the most natural drive and aggression. I got what I paid for and I do not regret my decision.

Presa are no joke. While many advocate not to take pupps out on walks or public places while thier immune are vulnerable. I had to take my pup out on parks for short walks. Hardware stores and family homes to socialize as much as possible while he is young and curious. It paid off at the end. He is poeple friendly when going out. Dog friendly is different as their breed are not known for that as stated in the video. But he is good with livestock and superb with momma cat with kitten. I call him uncle Ramses as he like to be their protector. We good family dog with proper and alot of compliments when going out. One thing I do advise is from experience is pet insurance. These dogs aint cheap.

Everything he said is 100% true. My very dog was gifted to me, and just happened to be a two year old 90+ lbs presa canario. He was an absolute terror to say the least. But, I’ll tell you right now, I knew I was safe no matter where I went with this dog.

Awesome video, we have an 8 month Presa at home, Thordak. He's the biggest goofball I know, but man, their bark means BUSINESS. They'll scare a grown man straight lol. But stubborn is the understatement of the century! 😂 an amazing breed of dog, but thank you for doubling down on them not being for everyone. Part of being a good dog owner, is knowing what you can handle.

Love you mate but the Cane Corso bias is clear 😂 we all have bias towards breeds but you are the best nonetheless and know your stuff 👍
However, I have come across quite a few Presas and Corso’s here in the UK. I think both are extremely powerful and athletic.
Dog fighting is horrific but I would put my money on the Presa if those two breeds were to go at it.

      Facts
Presa have more drive than any corso I’ve seen
      My brother owns 3
I’ll take a presa over corso anyday
      More drive
      Very athletic
Most corsos here in the Florida are overweight
      No drive
      Soft
      This Dudes super biased lol

I ended up with a presa almost entirely by accident.
Saw a picture of a dog at my local kill shelter on a Facebook group, when he only had 4 days left.
Call my partner right away because I recognized his breed immediately, I couldn't imagine such an expensive and relatively rare breed especially in our area being put down just because he looked a little scary.
We went to meet him and introduce one of our dogs to make sure he was safe to bring home, and got him the next day.
I haven't DNA tested him yet, but he's either full bred, or pressa and xl bully, based off of the history given by his previous owners.
