    This reminds me of back when i was deep in the chiptune scene and actually did a Collab with another person. Showing someone a piece you've been working on and having them come back with something completely unexpected can completely change how you view something you just wrote. Watching this makes me miss that process and now I'm going to have to carve out time to get back into it! Thanks for this!

    Yes AI can be a good brainstormer, with good prompts it is a bit like going through presets and ideally you will also be learning new ways of thinking about music so it is a learning experience also.

    Amazing experiment. I totally want to see more 👍
    I did experiment with it. Here are some tips:
    In the prompt, try something that is not your music. It won't follow the prompt exactly because it doesn't fit, but it will create something interesting. Add: Horror, hopeful, Goldorak, movie scene, Disney, in Japanese, Russian,
    Also, try taking your prompt and translate it to different languages before using it. Prompts in different languages give different vibes. 👍

      @@Techsploder Cool! It might depend on the music genre? I was working on jazzy/chill-hop type tunes. I used it for a "b section" idea. I fed it my chord progressions to see what it came up with for melody and beat, etc.

    Do this sample your sounds from commercial music and use that as input, and see if UDIO replicates it spot on?

    When the prompt strength is 0%, it will replicate what it sees in its reference window, but it will turn it into its own sound..
    IF you turn up the prompt strength it will use the prompt to influence the style of the sound its extending..

    Funny thing with this kind of collaboration is that AI is doing the creative part, while humans are doing the production. It's like AI is human's boss. Hmm...
    Anyhow, I liked the video. 👍

    • @Techsploder
      @Techsploder  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I mean, I guess so to an extent. Really, the way I look at it is like this: I've written this kind of music with human partners before, sitting next to me in the studio as we both throw out ideas as to where to take the song next. This really is something akin to that type of collaboration, at least in my experience. That's the thing I'm looking to explore with this. Not handing over control to an AI for everything. But leaning into it's strengths and ALWAYS having the final determination as to what actually happens with the track.

    It feels like its giving you a lot to work with as far as how to build off of it, but none of the divergent evolutions really work that well together without some massaging since the AI has not context for the other tracks that you're making. Maybe that's where the person has to come in. Shame you couldn't work in Track 3's drop though.

    Anybody who thinks using AI to produce any artistic content is somehow creativity, helping them learn, improving and democratising the arts or any other so called use case that people promoting this crap come up with us deluded.
    It is the death of creativity and originality, not a benefit, but a curse.

    • @Techsploder
      @Techsploder  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not the death of anything. It's an avenue to explore. Nothing more. At least in the context of how I would use it. It doesn't stop me from being humanly creative. It's another tool in the toolbox. It's an automated version of Oblique Strategies. It's a person sitting next to me in the producer chair saying "what if we do this?" I still have agency (as humans always will) to say yes or no. So it doesn't stop or really change anything other than offer another way to approach the art. Now, everyone has a different way of using these tools, so my use case will differ from others. But that's how I see it. Thanks for watching!

    You realize UDIO only recognizes sounds its been trained on, so it will turn your samples into commercial sounds. I've been telling thomas dolby, he has an advantage with UDIO, its hear him and can make use of his voice.

    • @saulcross9690

    • @saulcross9690
      @saulcross9690 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So basically your advocating letting AI do most of the work in turning your own creativity into something derivative just to satisfy the content monster and further flood the already over-saturated and effed up streaming music market. 🤦‍♂️

    • @Techsploder
      @Techsploder  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree. At the same time, I could actually see Thomas Dolby welcoming AI tools, as an artist he has always been pretty open to new technological avenues in music production.

    • @Techsploder
      @Techsploder  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Or maybe just advocating for AI like this to be an OPTION... In a sea of options that exist already (and the sea of options that have yet to be invented). Why is this any different from some new plugin that does something in a new way? They all attempt to create something new, or simplify something old, or whatever. Seeing AI like this as different from the other tools we rely on in the studio is close minded to the possibility of finding new pathways for OURSELVES as artists to learn and grow.

You know why EDM is so popular cause in the 90s, CD's had 74 minutes of storage, and each musician was given the equivalent of a double record to fill.
