Johnny Cash talks and sings about Circuit Riders

Cash used his "Ride This Train" segment as a weekly American History lesson on his variety show, usually using it to showcase the contributions of blue-collar workers or tell forgotten tales of America's recent past. This is one of my favorites where he talks and sings about the Circuit Riders, rural itinerant Christian evangelists who traveled the country spreading the good word before Jesus needed satellites and theme parks to get his message out. Includes portions of "Amazing Grace," "In The Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Bringing In The Sheaves."

The beauty of this story (really, the beauty of the Gospel) wrapped in the "good ole" twang style of Johnny Cash's country music... what a treasure. Sadly, this joy is probably gibberish to much of America today.
