Why everyone is hating on this? "youtube bait", "another goat simulator" etc. I don't know what are you talking about, I had much fun playing goat simulator. And no, I don't only play retarded games like that, finished Child Of Light recently and I think it's masterpiece.
The problem is that games like these are really only funny for a certain amount of time, I'm going to admit that I'd love to play this game, it's just that every youtuber and their mom is going to be playing it, recording themselves and uploading "I am bread" videos. Everyone's going to be playing it on twitch too, the game's going to lose it's charm way quicker than you'd want it to because of this.
WonderSuave I don't watch lets plays, so I don't care. Every game is fun for only certain amount of time.
Clockwork Doll I don't know about that. Everyone has that one game they've played too many times and they still play it. I still go back to the classics sometimes, no matter how many times I've already done it. Humor is much different though, you can only listen/watch a certain thing a few times to where it doesn't phase you anymore. The appeal to this game comes from the amount of things you can do in it. Once you do everything, it'll just lose it's charm. I doubt there's going to be more than an hour of content to play around with. I just hope this will be open to the steam workshop

Clockwork Doll The hate comes from the fact that there's a bunch of games like this. Even though you don't really watch let's plays, they're still a big thing on youtube. Just the fact that everyone's going to be uploading footage of this game is going to ruin this game much quicker and that's why some people hate them. They blow up youtube with countless videos, the humor dries out in a couple of days and it ends up becoming a game you never want to hear from again.

We're very critical of games that are too violent or sexual, but when it's a 5-minute Flash project where you play as a fucking slice of bread we're happy to buy it on Steam because it's "lol so random". Yeah let's not support developers who are daring and innovative, let's support shovelware trash. At least no one can be offended by a game that has 3 minutes worth of content.
EDIT: This game is TH-camr bait, it will bore you as soon as the novelty of being bread wears off (~10 minutes). It will have gamebreaking bugs that will never be fixed. It will have very small levels where you can play around with the physics of 5 objects and that's it. That will be the entire game. Critics who will call it a "cash-grab" will be people who haven't understood the hilarious nature of it. This is exactly what will happen with "I am Bread", sorry to've ruined the hype.
This is a funny game (much better than Surgeon Simulator) but my personal GOTY 2014 is both violent and sexual (Bayonetta 2).
5 minute flash project? Go make a flash game in five minutes and I'll be surprised if you got a line to move.

I think you're confusing the existence of this game as a sort of correlation with people 'not caring' about more 'edgy' games that use extreme violence, religious themes, sexual content, shock imagery... it's not the case, this game is made by a company that has a history of making tongue in cheek games and this is merely following on from that style. But this doesn't mean we are likely to FORGET about different, more daring games. There is room in the industry for both and I think you'll find that your issue lies with reveiwers and their perception of 'whats ok for the market' e.g their review scores of these so called 'daring games' so take it up with them, not on people enjoying something innocently

This game doesn't pretend to be anything else but a silly physics sand box. I can respect that, and I believe it has a place. You take yourself too damn seriously and childishly thrash about when people enjoy something you do not. Your holier then thou attitude when it comes to leisurely past times is not endearing.
TheDJYosh Because these kind of games are starting to ruin Greenlight, Indie Devs and generally a lot of parts of the gaming industry. If you look on Greenlight, its full of Pewdiebait games. Games, made with little to no effort, simply to raise awareness through TH-camrs and their "OMG SO RANDOM ROFL CAPSLOCK TITLE" videos in order to make people buy a crappy game. And people with low standards actually pay money for these games, that might be somewhat funny for 5 minutes and then just be annoying. How encouraging for those devs, that actually put effort into their games and yet, end up with barely any sales, etc.
Sadly, as this trend keeps growing, more and more devs turn to making these games and greenlight is full with it, while less devs actually want to put the time and effort into making a good game, because 12 year old kids fall for pewdiebait!

pikafan8 Oh, yes, one glitch which they were proud enough of to add to the trailer. If they were really working hard to make a game without bugs, they'd have cut it out of the trailer and subsequently fixed it. Showing it off screams "We want the Goat Simulator audience" from a mile away.

I love all the haters here. It's just an indie game. If you want to rage about 'hard work' and 'realistic graphics', go back to the Call of Duty trailers where you belong. And if you're seriously mad about a game like this making money, then just shut up and torrent it. Nobody's forcing you to pay money.
Apparently people don't understand that games are just meant for fun. Sure games have amazing stories, beautiful art styles and graphics, and innovative mechanics, at their core they are just a form of entertainment and so if they're not fun, then why even play it? So with that being said, why can people not understand the simple fact that not everybody enjoys the same kind of game as you do. Opinions people. Extremely simple and complicated at the same time.

Have Heart Call of Duty Advance Warfare sold 7 million copies in the first week of November. Sunset Overdrive sold 90K (I know it's XBox One only - for comparison 2 million of the CoD sales were Xbox One). I think it might just be possible that most people don't like fun. People are awful.
Storageheater I personally, am not a fan of the Call of Duty franchise anymore. Its gotten too much the same for me to purchase it every year. But, if people enjoy it and find it fun, then good for them.

It's bad but it's doing it ironically so we all better blow our money on it and make it a top seller, helping the developers of a purposefully bad product become richer by a few millions while showing to the rest of them that hard work, deep and involving gameplay, realistic graphics, intriguing story, all come secondary. All that matters is making the game ironically bad so that people will buy it ironically, play it ironically and give it good reviews ironically, funneling the creators with non-ironical cash. All trolling aside, do you seriously dislike this game because it's 'novel'? They're not saying that it's going to be 'good' in any sense, it'll be good in the same way Surgeon Simulator was 'good'. The game is meant to be fucked around with, not dissected or min/maxed... It's a _fun_ game, the irony and sarcasm is only there to meet those ends.

"Fun" is completely subjective, merely a buzzword to be used when there's no redeeming quality to a game you enjoy. Yet everyone will eat it up and ironically glorify it to no end, just like everyone did with Goat Simulator before completely forgetting it a few weeks later.

Wellard Johnson A "used one for 30 bucks" WILL have compatibility issues. I had one. Games like this that are made around controllers usually only fully support the X360 controller, as it is the easiest controller to program. (as it's supported by Microsoft as well) You can't just tell people to buy a cheaper product because it's cheaper. Usually it's just a shitty product. With games like this buying a controller is the only way to fully experience it in it's best, and I won't buy a controller to play just one game as I only play competitive games that need mouse and keyboard. EDIT: Unless Bossa confirms that the game does actually support third party controllers then I will shut my mouth.

I honestly don't understand the hate. It looks pretty fun. It's interactive, and isn't just senseless violence. When people make games like these (This isn't an all the time thing), it's usually them just testing out different things they can do. I mean obviously they are serious about it since they are actually producing the game in the first place, but they are just having fun. I don't see this is a reason to just intently /hate/ on it because it's a "stupid" game about a piece of bread. Apparently some of you just don't know how to have fun. Who said it had to be serious for it to be fun? It's a game about bread. What more do you want? I liked it a lot. If there were some kind of boss battle involving grilled cheese, I would lose my shit. 10/10 would bread for sure. Got my eyes on you.
