  • This video focuses on the exclusive yacht club area of the MSC'S Ocean Cay, a private island in the Bahamas and in typical Peter Masella style, I also highlight our approach and departure to and from the ship's docking point.

      How did it go ? We just got back from sailing on the MSC MERAVILIGIA from NYC (We're European though) and it was our 1st MSC cruise (we've done 22 with other lines) and we LOVED IT !We were in a balcony fantastica. Since coming home, I've booked 3 more MSC cruises. 2 on SEA VIEW here in Europe and 1 again for next year , repeating the MERAVILIGIA April 2024,but in YACHT CLUB! So it'll be anew experience, even though on the same ship. We've also booked yacht club on the SEAVIEW for September 2024. That's how much we enjoyed it. We'd seen negative reviews on vlogs on TH-cam, but we know from an MSC official that MSC headquarters sent over their training team to sort out the main problems and we noted it when we we're on board. Everything was fantastic.

    The story of Ocean Cay is quite something. Until recently it was an industrial waste dump. What MSC has done to transform the island is truly impressive, especially in light of the sanctuary they’ll provide sea creatures such as sea turtles.
    If you liked the Yacht Club you will absolutely love The Haven aboard NCL ships such as Encore (which I was on recently) and the upcoming Prima. NCL’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay, is even more beautiful, in my opinion. You can also see Royal Caribbean’s island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, right next to it with its stunning array of water slides.

    I am REALLY loving this cruise series!! 🙂⛴️ One of my fav scenes is from the beach with the ship in the background--just really showed how HUGE it is!!! (And for best viewing, I utilized the 65" screen in my house, of course. 🙂)

    It's so SURREAL, sailing into the island. We sat in the bar drinking A coffee starboard side and it gave the visual illusion , as if it's s sliding up onto the land! It's insane

    I should add: this ship, I believe, is designed in the classic propulsion style of fixed shaft propellers and rudders. This is in conjunction with the bow and stern thrusters. If the vessel were built with azipods there would be no rudders or stern thrusters. The vessel would be able to exit tight paths, such as Ocean Cay’s buoys, more easily. Most of today’s cruise ships are fitted with azipods because of their flexibility. They allow a ship to spin on its own center of gravity.

    I have always been amazed by the gargantuan dimensions of both MSC Seashore and Symphony of the Seas. To gain perspective, I was amazed to find that our largest nuclear carrier, Gerald Ford, CVN78 has a length/beam/height of 333/41/76. MSC Seashore checks in at 6 meters longer 339/41/71. I suspect that with a capacity of 5600 pax it is more luxurious that symphony which packs 9000 into comparable dimensions.

      Problem is, some of the alternative beaches have heavier stones, prickly plant buds and coral and so are uncomfortable on bare foot, so take amphibian shoes.

    If my choices are an oceanview (not beachfront) cabana in the Yacht Club area or a cabana in the main area where the beach isn't as rocky, which would you recommend?

    • @PeterMasella
      @PeterMasella  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It really depends on the weather/wave conditions for the day. The yacht club area could have calm water that day.

    The ship looks like it is barely half capacity. I've seen documentaries on cruise ships operations. It's like one big choreographed dance. Any chance of an engine plant tour?

    Why you keep mentioning Yacht Club? We get you're in the Yacht Club. But most people won't be in that club so what is your point in constantly mentioning it. And why would you go on a cruise if you don't want to be around people. Your channel is very informative but you're really leaving a bad taste in my mouth constantly mentioning the Yacht Club. So is this a video about the cruise or is this a video about the Yacht Club?
