The Scinic sunscreen I think is my new holy grail. The UVA PF rating was tested somewhere around 23.5 which is pretty high for a Korean sunscreen. It always looks dewy on youtube videos but I noticed it does diminish pretty quickly. To me it almost has a buttery texture but quickly melts to nothing. And yes it's very affordable. I just keep gravitating towards it.

I’m super pale, nc10, and still get a white cast from all mineral sunscreens. I gave up on them. I just use a little bit on top of a thicker layer of greasy sunscreen to matte it down

It'd not worth it to make mineral work when there are so many options these days!

Try ultra Violette mineral sunscreen, I have medium skin and it has been a game changer for me it’s not greasy and no white cast

NEWSFLASH: This is Pyunkang Yul’s reformulated version of their original Titanium Dioxide-only sunscreen. During Korean sunscreen-gate, Pyunkang Yul very quietly discontinued their Ato sunscreen (which I was a fan of but knew it wasn’t SPF50 from the get-go), added Zinc Oxide and two chemical filters and then re-released it to the market months later.
Yup, Pyunkang Yul was part of Korean sunscreen-gate but no one ever talks about it.

The Scinic one is water resistant (good for water and sport activities) after watching it from Director Pi so you need to double cleanse 😊 tho I haven't tried and the Pyunkang Yul Ato I wonder if it fits in the humid weather.

Hi Kelly I have been on a bit of a journey with spf's over the last few years tbh. I used mostly chemical spf's or hybrid spf's for many years, but when I developed rosacea (in addition to lifelong eczema) I started trialling more mineral based spf's. It has been a hit and miss journey despite being a fitzpatrick one skintone. Formulation is indeed everything and I can still wear some chemical spf's, some mineral formulations and some hybrid formulations. Many mineral spf's are actually really drying on the skin and a thick white pasty look doesn't look good on anyone. I have found the newer generation chemical filters less problematic than many of the older filters and being in the UK have good access to a variety of formulations. When I do find something that works I cling to it like a best friend, as I have had so so many misses with the vast majority of hyped spf's. Constantly trialling things that don't work can be really expensive and perhaps the slightly more expensive thing you know you can use is better value in many circumstances. However occasionally trying something else may lead to a new favourite, so I really slowed down trying things over the last year. The other ingredients in the formula can also make a big difference as to whether it works or not. Best wishes.
ps you might find the latest spf video by michelle lab muffin interesting when you review more mineral spf's as the one shown is an example of what she was talking about lol. x

The white cast from the PKY wasn't actually that bad. It looked okay on you. And I like the finish. My biggest concern with mineral sunscreens is that they tend to pill or accumulate on my brow areas and hair line.

Thank you for all the reviews! I've been using the Scinic one for about 2 years and I really like it. It can get as low as $6 on StyIevana. I have "normal" type skin, dislike fragrance, and live in a mild climate in California, and it's something I can use year-round. The texture is perfect.
For a water-resistant SPF, I've been trying the Holika Aloe Soothing Essence (a recent reformulation, $9) and had no issues with it. The texture is a bit similar to Scinic's, but runnier and not as dewy. It has added fragrance, but I can barely smell it. It seems to have the same exact ingredients as a Dr. Jart+ sunscreen, which is interesting.

Epic review is right! I have tried the Goodal and Scinic sunscreen and have enjoyed both. I got mine from Olive Young Global because they great price. Both brands had 1+1 deal so I bought 3 of them which gave me 6 full size and so I ended up enjoyed it for a long time.

Thank you Kelly for this thorough review of Korean sunscreens. I have ‘hearted’ several on yesstyle and am looking forward to trying them. I am so grateful that we can get the new generation of chemical screens from Korea and wonder why we can’t get them from Europe. It's really great
Even has one of the highest UVA ratings among standard Korean daily sunscreens (all are ++++ which usually is 16-17 but this one is 20+)
My only issue is that its finish is too glossy for my preference.. Plus collects in my beard
