    Thank you so much for talking about how noticeable a sunscreen is on your face! For me the #1 reason I skip sunscreen some days is I just don't feel like feeling my sunscreen that day 😂 sometimes I can handle feeling product on my face but some days I really am just like "I'd rather hide in the basement and not see the sun than put that goop on my face 😭" and I don't think I've seen other skintubers really acknowledge that before.
    New to your channel but liking it so far, LabMuffin beauty science recommended you to us ☺️

    I just wanted to comment how SO very thankful I am for this video!! I am always searching for a few very specific things with sunscreen- 1. All or mostly all new generation filters 2. No obvious fragrance included (like essential oils, limonene, “fragrance” etc.) 3. No alcohol. It is SO hard to find sunscreen that fits all of those parameters, and if you don’t have a list or starting point it is incredibly daunting because even if you cut out all of the other continents, there are SO many Asian sunscreens alone to sift through! Anyway, your fantastic video provided me not one but three to try! (maybe four? I have to go back and watch the segment of the 4th one because I had something distracting me during that bit lol). But I love that you’ve given me 3 that fit my preferences perfectly, and in three different finishes! Neutral/matte, moisturizing and dewy, and “feels like you’re wearing nothing”. I seriously feel as though you made this video just for me 😂 I’m so glad I caught it! Thanks again love 🙏
    Edit- ooh bonus question: do you know of any SPRAY sunscreens that also fit my three requirements above? That has been an even tougher struggle for me! I’d love to find one to do touch ups on top of makeup throughout the day.

    I have sensitive, dry, acne prone skin. Just tried skin1004 yesterday and really loved it, its cruelty free , moisturized me all day, didn't break out, and no whitecast and hardly any dew. I did try Scenic and Beauty of Joseon (cruelty free), but prefer to buy Skin1004 again over the other two because its cruelty free, feels good and less dew. 😊

    I used to love the Isnt Tree but just as you said, that “dewy” look of it wasn’t for me. Since then, I switched to Skin1004 Hyaluronic Cica Sun Serum and absolutely loved it. My new holy grail sunscreen xD

    The Skin1004 is the best sunscreen I’ve ever tried! Most of the ones you mentioned which are super popular are too dewy for me but Skin1004 created perfection and I’m not irritated to wear it daily 😊

    The fact that you ranked them! (because I'm always thinking "ok but which one out of those is your favourite, or top 3??") So THANK YOU for the ranking!! I'm surprised the Purito Soft Touch didn't make it on the list. I've been wanting to try the Skin1004! *adds to cart* 🥰 xx

    The Skin1004 sunscreen is my favourite sunscreen! And I’ve tried a fair few. The Isntree one stung my eyes a LOT. I liked the BOJ one but it worked better for me in the winter because it’s moisturising. I have my eyes on the Goodal and Scinic ones now.

    I really loved this video Kelly! I have, or rather my skin has issues with niacinamide, so I really appreciate the fact that you added the Goodal SPF to this list! I'd love it if you could do a video with sunscreens that are ALL niacinamide free.

    YAY A RANK!!🌈💕🦋✨ I’m team BOJ for combo acne prone skin!!!
    Nobody asked, but…
    Krave matcha cleanser +
    Peach Slices Snail Deep moisture cream +
    BOJ spf +
    Loreal tinted hyaluronic serum =
    you will not be sorry 🤩
    This video got me thinking how BOJ spf isn’t just the product itself but how it plays so well with others especially that Loreal skin tint! And thanks to videos like this, I have come so far in discovering the most superstar knock it out of the park textures, all acne friendly and affordable, that all fit seamlessly together into a routine. I am so thankful 💛

    I recently discovered Goodal H. Cordata Calming Sun Cream and you are right about it being semi-matte. On the left side of my face, I applied Benton Air Fit Sun Cream and Goodal on the right side, Goodal side was slightly matte. I love both though.

    The Skin1004 sunscreen - it is amaaaazing! I have oily skin and super sensitive eyes. It is as you said - invisible. I forget as well that I applied it. It immediately sinks in, because it is so light. No greasiness or heaviness. And it is the FIRST sunscreen I have used that does not sting my eyes. I ruined my eyes years ago, when contact lenses had low % of water and they lasted for a whole year. But they were harmful for the eyes. I think this is why my eyes are to this day so sensitive to bright light, sunscreens etc. So happy I found this sunscreen!

    Even "daily" sunscreens must be at least water-resistant to be able to wear them in the summer. Otherwise, they will melt off in the heat/humidity just by being outside in the heat. Even if you don't exercise - you can just stand still outside, and the heat will make it drip off. I don't get how people can wear any of these in the SUMMER. Any other season, yes, but in the summer I find that they tend to melt off. I'm still looking for a sunscreen that is "grippy" enough for the summer. So weird how all sunscreens tend to be advertised as moisturizing. Not a lot of people need moisture in 90% humidity.

  • @johnmichaelarnaud
    @johnmichaelarnaud ปีที่แล้ว +5

    These are great picks overall! I can't do Isntree at all (far too much shine and it moves around and gives me eye burn). BoJ is middle of the pack, if a bit too much in the summer. But the rest are gold. My top 5 would also include iUNIK (all year) and Klairs (for the winter). Round Lab is also decent (BoJ level), but it's so much more expensive than the rest. If you want value, Scenic is really hard to beat (you can get it for less than $8 most of the time!). UPDATE: I finally tried the Goodal sunscreen and there will not be a need for me to buy a different sunscreen ever again. The PINNACLE.

  • @stevie9091
    @stevie9091 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’m a devotee of BOJ sunscreen. It’s so light on the screen and easily to reapply. I have recently tried the Isntree water sunscreen, I find this is slightly thicker than the BOJ. And another con is that it smells like sunscreen. Whereas the BOJ doesn’t have much of a scent at all.

  • @czechmatey

    SKIN1004 is my absolute favorite! It's so lightweight, a little moisturizing, and feels like almost nothing on the skin. I have a few others but it helps me stay consistent and I actually look forward to putting it on. Thank you for this video!

  • @purplelamp273
    @purplelamp273 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've been using the Skin1004 sun serum recently and I love it. It's cruelty free, vegan, doesn't have anything I'm allergic to (nut oils), and it doesn't break me out/cause hives. I'm also very particular about sunscreen/lotion texture. I don't ever really moisturize my body because I hate the texture of normal lotions. I tried the isntree and beauty of joseon sunscreens, but I didn't enjoy the texture... I can't explain it! But, I do love the Skin1004 sun serum and its texture. It's great under makeup! My go to was the canmake sunscreen, but it's not vegan, so I'm glad to find a good vegan sunscreen!

    Haven't tried the goodal or scenic so I'm excited to try them! In my collection I also have iunik, benton, and cosrx. I have combo skin. Cosrx is a bit too dewy for me, but makeup calms that down. I'm loving the iunik and benton though. Also want to try the round lab sun cushion.

    With so many great Korean sunscreens, it must have been tough to rank just 5. My favourites also include Scinic, BoJ and the SKIN1004 one. I also like the Bellflower Blueberry sunscreen, Etude House Soon Jung mineral sun cream and the Dear Klairs All day airy essence. I'll put the goodal one on my list, as I liked quite a few Goodal products.

    I love all of these. I recently tried one Japanese one from Anessa (Shiseido) in a pink bottle and it has a very cool technology where it is incredibly sweat resistant fragrance free and the technology somehow when sweating it gets 20% stronger or something like that I know I’m not using the correct wording here but it was very comfortable I wore on a run with my dog and was amazed I didn’t swear it off my eyes didn’t get irritated it was perfection! I’m not near it but when I get home if I remember I’ll put the name down. It’s sooo good!

    really really love the texture of the Isntree, but it is too shiny and makes my skin a little bit tight few hours after which is surprising despite the shiny finish.

  • @alexistantau9126
    @alexistantau9126 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I actually use different sunscreens on different parts of my face. I use Australian Gold on my forehead and nose because it’s a bit mattifying and pore blurring. I use Colorescience Sunforgettable on the rest of my face. The AG feels too thick on the parts of my face that move around a lot and the CS makes the tip of my nose break out. The CS would be too dewy for my forehead, but I need all the hydration/moisture I can get on the sides of my face. Thankfully, they match, because I don’t wear foundation.
    With sensitive skin, I’ve been reticent to try anything beyond physical filters, but I’m waiting for my first YesStyle order, getting ready to dip my toe into the realm of new age chemical filters.

    Tried Isntree, Beauty of Joseon and Scinic, by far my fave is the Beauty of Joseon, surprised how it's moisturizing enough by itself for my dry skin! Now tho, my go-to sunscreen is from Benton Air Fit UV Defense sunscreen. But it does contain EO, I believe it has Rosemarry Oil. The green tint is what hooked me cause it evens out the redness on my cheek! And now I'm waiting my Skin1004 sunscreen to arrive! 😂

  • @kessarinkullaphatkanon3695
    @kessarinkullaphatkanon3695 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just open a tube of Isntree Sun gel today. Its texture is much lighter than I expect. I have tried (1) Beauty of Joseon - I think its texture is quite thick for me (2) Roundlab - not very watery but I like its texture (3) SKIN 1004 - not very watery, still thicker than Isntree.
    So, based on my feeling, Beauty o f Joseon = the thickest texture
    Isntree = the thinnest texture
    I don't feel the result from extra ingredients from SKIN 1004, Round lab.

    I’ve tried 4 of these 5 and 3 of them would give my skin a slight stinging sensation, especially when my barrier is compromised. Tried 2 Scinic samples, eyelid was burned both times. BOJ definitely stung here and there. I stuck with the Skin1004 for the gorgeous finish, but it indeed does sting occasionally tho luckily it does go away. There’s something about the formula they share (I doubt it’s niacinamide bc I’m fine w niacinamide stuff in my routine) and they’re def not the mildest sunscreens out there. Texture and application are always really good tho!!

      I would definitely give SKIN1004 Centella Madagascar sunscreen a try. Everyone was raving about BOJ so I got it but then I also got the SKIN1004 and I rarely pick up the BOJ anymore unless I'm not caring about the feel or looks that day and just try to finish using it. Haven’t tried Goodal yet, though I’m curious to. Scinic I’m hesitant about because of the thickness reviewers describe. (I have however tried Scinic’s mineral foundation-skip spf; it’s a great finish but in usual mineral spf style, it sucks for reapplication.) BOJ is a classic and longstanding favorite, the sunscreen I wear when I want comfort and absolutely zero skincare shenanigans. The Skin1004 is excellent and keeps alternating with BOJ for a position in my heart. The Isntree one I’ve fallen out of love with over time - it feels great on my skin but it’s just sooo shiny and the eye sting is too much for me.

But I just bought the Scinic sunscreen after seeing you recommend it, and it was only $7.50 on stylevana so I bought 2, and I Love It! It absorbs quickly, it’s slightly moisturizing which is great on my dryish skin and I think its fantastic! Great recommendation for sure. I do like the BoJ sunscreen as well, but I haven’t tried the Goodal or Isntree sunscreens yet, but after this video the Goodal sounds great so that might be my next try! As someone who deals with living in super hot & humid most of the year, SE Texas, I really need something that is super light weight sunscreen particularly in the summer. Pretty much everything mentioned I only use Fall & Spring.
    I have 2 summer faves I’ve found post 2020. Lagom Cellus Sungel (drawback 1.35 oz/40 ml tube) or the Klavuu UV Protection Fresh Sun Gel. Both are hydrating and refreshing feeling and don’t feel like anything on my skin. While I’m mostly a normal skin person, summer means I don’t want to feel that layer of sunscreen on my face. I use moisturizers most would view as oily skin friendly because even w normal skin I don’t want anything heavy or super moisturizing, I want light, airy & refreshing & these 2 do that.
    I do like the Hyggee Vegan Sun Cream as a moisturizing winter sun screen when I tend to be dryer.
    I do really like the Skin1004 Centella for the day after Trentinoin.

      It's really hard to find spf much bigger than 80ml in k-beauty unfortunately! Swanicoco has an spf that's 150ml (light fragrance). Jbeauty has a nice offering with the nivea sun protect water gel. It had a pump and refills!

    I use the BoJ one as eye contour, because I don't tolerate any sunscreens around my eyes (I'm not even talking eyelids)

    I was really glad to find out about the Goodal sunscreen through this video and am really enjoying it so far! I'm a little concerned because it seems to now be out of stock on a number of sites -- I hope they aren't discontinuing it. :(

    Sadly most korean options are not available where I live or are too expensive for me (I won't pay more than 15€ for a 40ml sunscreen). Thankfully great european options are readily available.

      yea u guys in Europe are very lucky to have Evy which would be my go to for summer sunscreen. such amazing technology verified by independent 3rd party testing. I unfortunately can't get it in the US as most retailers won't ship aerosols. You guys also have La Roche posay formulas with 2nd gen filters we don't get as well as a garnier one I saw for 10 pounds. so you def don't have to go to asian sunscreens.

    I use skin 1004 while on accutane it's hydrating moisturizing but it does irritate my sensitive cheeks where i have scars and pigmentation. Idk why but it does, i haven't seen any review where someone mentioned this issue.

    I recently finished up the BOJ sunscreen and was excited to use the Skin1004 one. I was disappointed. There was a slight stinging feeling upon application and I did not like how it felt on my skin. 😢 I really like the isntree sunscreen. I think I’ll try the Goodall one this time! P.S. when will you be reviewing the new BOJ ginseng sunscreen?? ☀️🤔

      Check out MD Solar Sciences, they have a nice SPF lip product, or Rhoto Melty cream Lip on Stylevana or Yesstyle, both are nice balms not drying!

    Hey im very confused. The goodal sunscreen that you have linked in the description is called heartleaf sunscreen and the one u mention in the video is H.cordata. It isnt the same is it? Even on reddit people seem to be interchanging the names and reviews.

    • @KellyDriscoll
      @KellyDriscoll  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was rebranded within the last year to be called heartleaf instead of houttuynia Cordata, which is way easier to pronounce and remember! Houttuynia cordata is the scientific name for heartleaf, the ingredients did not change with the name!

    I have such a different experience with the isntree ha spf. I have dry skin and this one makes me look sooo greasy like I have a thin clear mask on. I have to blowdry my face with this one and lots of powder which annoys me. I’m not sure why I seem to be the only one

    I like the texture of the skin1004 but for some reason it kind of sting on some parts of my face for a short while everytime I put it on. Slightly stinging but I still use it and almost done with it. Not sure why because I don't hear people experiencing this but I really like the texture

    hello! question here, i've been using the cosrx snail cream & im looking for a sunscreen & wanna try the boj one but a chemist said that snail mucin makes you sensitive to ferments? i really wanna try it and their ginseng essence (that has ginseng ferment filtrate) but is it safe to😭

    • @KellyDriscoll
      @KellyDriscoll  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never heard that snail makes your skin sensitive to ferments, sounds more anecdotal than fact based. The only way you'll know if your skin is sensitive to an ingredient is to try it out, the ferment in the sunscreen is very low, tbh.
