just finished my freshman year of high school and this was by far my favorite piece we played. i had the flute solo at the beginning and it was so fun to play
I miss this song...😭. I am a Senior in high school about to graduate and this song brings back memories of my Sophomore when I first learned how to played French horn. This is when I realized that I was meant to be a beast French horn player instead of a trumpet player. We got straight 1s at assessment playing this. I was the best French horn player in my section at the time. The runs were hard back then now when I look at it I'm thinking, "Why was this so hard?"
My friend Omar just switched from trumpet to french horn/mellophone (in marching band) last year and he's doing really good and as the only horn player we are all kinda proud of him cause he has never cared too much about band but he just started fixing his life and is doing amazing. It's nice to see him improve as a person and a player. To quote my teacher, "band is a lot about life, and a little about playing. This experience will change you in ways you could never comprehend so enjoy it while it lasts"
i loved playing this song! we used some of it in our marching band show my senior year. like from the 2:50 mark to the 3:09 mark with other random parts from the song. :]
Sooooo great! Just played it last night and it was awesome. I'm playing clarinet and the final part (4:33 to the end) is the best yet somehow the hardest fingering succession I've ever played.
The one where its Eb then B and F#? Followed by the next set of eighth notes (around measure 63)? To me its such a weird fingering (im used to alternate fingerings for B and C because my hands are small)
I was clarinet 1 on this freshman year right after covid so I was fresh out of middle school with very little skill. This song was tough as shit and sounded great. Still gives me chills.
I know… I played this freshman year and it was so hard… now I’m a sophomore and moved to a harder school and safe to say, I could probably play this song with ease now 😂😂
I can see how 1:08 is the most replayed. That's the most fun to play part in my opinion, from a trombone player lol. First time I ever got to do a gliss in a concert.
I play euphonium and my band is playing this for district tomorrow. I REALLY love the euphonium part. Not too hard...but not too easy, and sounds great too.
I play as a freshman and I agree. Though I always get carried by the I think sophmore in my section, I really enjoy this song. The part I have trouble with is 2:47 lol
my hs symphonic band played this recently and nowhere near did it justice, we just didn't have enough time to prepare, but oh my god this is such a beautiful piece
i played this at UCA band camp, and it's a good piece. i think the part around 2:57 is my favorite, when you have the melody, and then the BUM BUM BUMMMMM of the low brass :) probably cuz im a trombone tho lol
i am the only on on marimba and xylo, we have one person on vibes. we had to abduckt two flutes to join the cult of percussion for this song. it's so fun
HOLY MOLY good job my dude!!! that's incredible talent. I'm a sophmore in the second highest band at my school and our band couldn't even get it together after weeks of practice and ended up having to cut some of it, so the fact that y'all can sightread that as a freshman band?? fucking incredible
We didn't have too much in this song but the trumpet parts that were in this song were pretty awesome especially the hi-hat rolls with our triplets cutting into them
omg!!! we played this as a marching show my freshmen year in high school along with blues Fur Elise and Rythmata the show was called (Experiments in Rhythm) I love this song tho yeaaaa!!! HHS Band
@chadmighster id have to say grade 4, because while this piece is challenging it isn't long. Now, if they stuck 7/16 measures and things like that we might have a grade 5

My band that I’m not in is playing this, and what’s really cool is that I personally know Erik Morales, the composer. He gives my brother lessons.
I can see how 1:08 is the most replayed. That's the most fun to play part in my opinion, from a trombone player lol. First time I ever got to do a gliss in a concert.
I play all of percussion three. Toms, Triangle, hihat, crash, bongos, and China Cymbal
zmansutton We had a guy literally do the exact same thing for 9&10 honor band

So glad I was able to play this freshman year. I had a 2nd trombone piece and it was fun and amazing
Played this one on the Xylophone and... nothing else. At least the director let me play at the end!
Percussion and euphoniums kicked butt here! I played this song for the string bass and they were right there.Claris sounded way too confusing lol
Wonderful work of displaying the different instruments capabilities
Playing this tonight at a concert. Tuba and claves. Its gonna be amazing.

The sections with the hi-hat really remind me of music for a boss battle in Zelda or something lol
0:46 was when the baritones came in. To me, that part sounded the best out of the whole piece.
And horns

My band director says we might be the only high school in our state where the freshman band can sightread this :D
HOLY MOLY good job my dude!!! that's incredible talent. I'm a sophmore in the second highest band at my school and our band couldn't even get it together after weeks of practice and ended up having to cut some of it, so the fact that y'all can sightread that as a freshman band?? fucking incredible
