The collection of shoes was the most emotional to me at the Holocaust Museum. And I’ve never been to the Museum of the Bible. The thought struck me that you guys looked like the only people there. Made me sad. I enjoyed the retreat weekend vlog!!
There were definitely other people at Museum of the Bible...I just didn't film them. haha. It definitely wasn't as crowded as the Holocaust museum though.
"DONNER DINNER PARTY"?😅 Or "GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER?" Something Bad Penny would "gobble up." My Mother was an avid fan of any book on the DP. How macabre! She said, "If you look at what they went through, your petty little troubles don't seem so bad." She was a "voracious" reader. Lol. Pretty perfect time to visit D.C. Been a few times in the sweltering, oppression of summer and dreer, bleakness of winter.
We were blessed with beautiful weather. It rained on arriving and leaving day, but in between was beautiful! I have no interest in reading about the Donner party! haha
@@BooksAndJams You could give it up for Lent, Krista! 😒 Bad Penny made me say that! How rude. Lol. Just waking up here in SANDI EGO. Our FALL weather continues. Cloudy & warmer this week. 67° for the high. 50's at night. Wonder how your brother likes it? Now to see yr vid on den shelves. Luv ya. As always!
Hey Krista, glad you had a great time in my city. Also, I am pretty sure your cousin and I go to the same bakery! 🤭 Even though I am not a big middle grade reader I always enjoy hearing about what you and your friends are reading during Middle Grade March.
It was a great weekend for sure. There's always so much to do in the DC area. I'll be back up to my cousins in a week or so. Some of them are running the Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon. I'm going to cheer them on! haha
OMG - The Elephant in the Garden!!! I just read that and it is so good. Has to be one of my favorite books this year. Read it in an evening. Loved this Vlog and seeing Sarah.
Awesome vlog! Visiting Auschwitz was a heartbreaker. Just makes you speechless! The amount of items they had there, shoes, dolls, etc., and the endless list of names, so many pics on the walls, it would so long to read about each individual. Glad y'all had a great weekend! Happy MGM and happy reading!
Yes, the Holocaust museum is very emotional. They didn't have the shoe display there this time. Just a pic of it. Still so much reading of all the different aspects was heartbreaking, infuriating and just so hard!
Great video Krista. I’ve been to DC a couple of times. Once in 2003 in 8th grade and 2018 on a Youth Tour trip for my job where I was a chaperone. When I was in 8th grade we did the Holocaust Museum trip and I’ll never forget it. So emotional.
so fun to see the besties together - I really miss seeing Katie videos ... wish Sarah could have spent more time with you too! 😊 Appreciate you recording your museum trips - the Holocaust one really got to me. Enjoy your favorite month of the year!! Jacqueline
just received my first Lindsey booksleeve - LOVEEEE it!!! yes - she was missed in the video too. have a great weekend Krista! hope you do something fun!@@BooksAndJams
Hey, you were in my neck of the woods! I live in DC. It was fun seeing you at places I've frequented. Have been to both the Old Town book store in Alexandria and Second Story Books in Dupont Circle. (Kramerbooks and Afterwords is also in that neighborhood, but it's small.) If you decide to come back to DC again for a book adventure, I'd recommend going to Politics and Prose. They have three locations, but their flagship store is at the 5000 block of Connecticut Ave., NW. They have wonderful author talks and lots of great books for everyone. Also, I'd recommend East City Books near Eastern Market. There is also a book store in Georgetown called Bridge Street Books that's small but nice. Solid State Books is also a good place to go. They have two locations, one in Northeast (east of the Capitol) and one in Northwest. Finally, Loyalty Books is worth a visit. They specialize in diverse books. As for used books, there's Capitol Hill Books in Southeast on Capitol Hill, of course. And, since you were in Maryland, there's a really good used bookstore there called Wonder Book at 15976 Shady Grove Rd. in Gaithersburg. I don't go there frequently since I don't have a car, but I do enjoy checking it out every once in a while.
We did go to Kramer books too. It was SO crowded so I didn't get much footage in there. We missed Afterwords. Thanks for the tips on others stores to visit. I will probably be back up there sometime!
Yeah, that's not a good store to just browse in during busy times and who knows when that is? I'm guessing that towards the end of the day or earlier in the day, they're less busy.@@BooksAndJams
What a fun vlog, Krista! I’ve been to Washington, D.C. twice for 8th grade trips with each of my boys. I’d love to visit the Library of Congress one day. Book shopping is the best. 📚 Ya’ll picked up some great books. I get so emotional when I visit the Holocaust Museum. 😢 What an enjoyable weekend! 😊
Yay for another Vlog with these sweet bookish besties! And I love that y'all went to Museum of the Bible, it's on my list of places to go for sure! I have given financially when they were building and would love to see it. Have been to Holocaust Museum and still remember the way I felt. Still remember the room with the shoes. So affecting. Have finished 2 MG books so far for the readathon and on my 3rd and loving it!
The Museum of the Bible was very cool. There were some great displays and experiences in there. I could only share a small part. But we were there a few hours altogether. Yes, the Holocaust museum is a heavy, but important experience as well.
I love Nate Bargatze!!! Fun vlog! I feel like 4 is the magic number for me whenever I go book shopping😊I'm glad y'all got to go to the Bible Museum and Holocaust Museum❤🙏
When we went to Auschwitz, the rule was no pictures and videos in lots of places, but when people pulled out their phones and cameras they said nothing to them. I was thinking maybe they want this in the public eye, so many people anymore are disbelieving it ever existed, or wasn't "that bad".
I’ve never met another Fox but I’ve heard of a few! It’s such a good name. With such a good namesake (Fox Mulder)! I remember hearing that the showrunner named the main character Fox after his childhood best friend.
For sure. I went there about 20 years ago and can still remember how moving it was. It's so well done. I haven't been to many of the museums, but enjoyed the ones I have been too. DC is a great place to visit because there's just so much to do!
Always love the girl’s trip vlogs ❤
Looks like a phenomenal weekend together!
Absolutely loved this. Thank you so much.

Awww. I went to Old town Books with Sarah when I was in that area! The Holocaust Memorial was devastating, holy cow.
Fun! I love visiting DC. There's always so much to do.
Yea!! Another fun weekend vlog with besties my absolute favorite! Thanks Krista for taking me along!🤗💙
If only Lindsey could have been there too it would have been perfect!

Amazing Vlog Krista Katie & Amanda!😁👍👍👍 Loved watching this!!!🥰🥰🥰
Loved your Vlog. All pretty books. Trip. Photos you show us, music, etc.
I so love that you take us along on your adventures! Thanks! ❤
Thanks for always watching.

Krista, The Elephant in the Garden is excellent! I just read that last month in our library book club 4⭐️
Fun! I really liked it too.
I love seeing a busy bookstore! It sounds like you all had a great weekend and a fabulous kick-off to MGM.
Some of the bookstores we went in were super crowded. I was glad for the bookstore's sake, but it wasn't conducive for filming or shopping! haha.
What a wonderful time spent together! Thanks for sharing! ❤📚❤️
Thanks for watching!

It's a fun place to go visit. SO much to do and see!
What a wonderful weekend ladies! Thank you for bringing us along. This would be a dream trip for me. Maybe I could talk my daughter into it 🤞
DC is a great city to visit. Many of the museums are free and there is a ton to see just walking around.
so fun to see the besties together - I really miss seeing Katie videos ... wish Sarah could have spent more time with you too! 😊 Appreciate you recording your museum trips - the Holocaust one really got to me. Enjoy your favorite month of the year!! Jacqueline
We were missing Lindsey all weekend. It was a good trip though. Love any chance to connect with my youtube crew!
just received my first Lindsey booksleeve - LOVEEEE it!!! yes - she was missed in the video too. have a great weekend Krista! hope you do something fun!@@BooksAndJams
I’ve been to Old Town Books! I have tote bag from there. I was there for the Marine Corps Marathon in 2019.
It was my favorite of the 5 we visited.
Yay, MGM ladies! Love to see when y’all get together ❤. Thanks for the vlog! 😊
We love getting together and wish it could be more often! So glad you enjoy seeing our time with each other.
Gosh, i want to go to the Bible museum SO badlyyyyy!!!
It was so cool!
So fun! Glad you were all able to get together!
Thanks! It was a wonderful, bucket-filling weekend.

The Library of Congress is such a beautiful building! And yes, the Holocaust Museum is so emotional and heavy, but important.
I hope you find keeping your TBR going successful. You called it flip and ----- . I find it rewarding.
I like the idea of trying to read everything that gets onto a tbr by the end of the year. We'll see how I do!
What a great vlog. It is so much fun to share your adventures!
Thanks!
I read An Elephant in the Garden 2 years ago & loved it!
It's so good!
❤

It was a bucket filling weekend for sure. A good mix of hanging out with the girls and trotting around DC!
Wow, what a weekend. Your energy!! I was surprised that you could video in the museums.
When we went to Auschwitz, the rule was no pictures and videos in lots of places, but when people pulled out their phones and cameras they said nothing to them. I was thinking maybe they want this in the public eye, so many people anymore are disbelieving it ever existed, or wasn't "that bad".
It was a wonderful weekend. We did a lot, but also had quite a bit of down time too.
The only told us no flash photography. We were allowed to take pics and videos but without flash. Worked for me!
Katie, my son's name is Fox, too(we're X-Files Fans)!! He's only almost 8 months old, born on your birthday Krista!
I’ve never met another Fox but I’ve heard of a few! It’s such a good name. With such a good namesake (Fox Mulder)! I remember hearing that the showrunner named the main character Fox after his childhood best friend.
Fun connection!
Looks like you all had a great visit together! I want to go to those two museums now - must try to plot a trip to DC.
Let me know if you ever come. I'd drive up to go again! There's so much to do and see there.
Very nice Vlog!
Thank you!
I lived in Alexandria from end of middle school..till I went to college in Richmond.
It was fun to visit Old Town. We walked around quite a bit. Lots of cute shops.
Was it St. Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai? We were there last year when we went our pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
I can't remember the name of the monastery. Maybe??
I have been to most of the DC museums being from there, and the holocaust museum left the largest impact on me
For sure. I went there about 20 years ago and can still remember how moving it was. It's so well done. I haven't been to many of the museums, but enjoyed the ones I have been too. DC is a great place to visit because there's just so much to do!
