You broke the rod but you still landed that fish. Some people would get madd and quit. Then to make it better you let him go. A real sports fisherman you are VIK! Love the videos
Welcome to Dennis! I have noticed a real professional touch to the camera work lately. He is doing a superb job. Congrats to Brooke (prior main camera person) who definitely deserves the break! Looking forward to a great 2023. Love you guys. Shout out if you ever make it to Venice FL!
As a Cantonese person, the way you steam the fish impressed me considered how many ppl gets it wrong. Some small suggestion: it's actually recommended to just use a small ceramic or metal plate/bowl inside of the steamer (that's the way we usually does it). and please prop the basket up with something like a chopstick, it will prevent the basket from falling apart in boiling water in the long run :)
What a great catch, clean and cook video! We’re gonna have to try this one next. Our family favorite so far is the Mahi on Ciabatta bread. Thanks for another great video!!!
Great video Vik! Any time you’re out with Adam and Chief is bound to be an awesome day! Plenty of tomfoolery! The steamed fish looked absolutely delicious too. Happy New Year and I can’t wait to see your adventures in 2023. Keep up the great work and I’ll keep on watching! Peace and love from the UK
Noticed you often use sesame oil for high heat cooking in your wok but I'd recommend trying it as a finishing oil towards the end of your cooking. It can also be used in marinades for Meats in korean dishes. I'd also recommend exploring your sesame oil options I think you'll notice the difference in flavor with a good quality sesame oil. Since you like asian recipes I'd also recommend experimenting with other braised fish dishes and or soups/stews I've seen you make thai(?) Style soup using coconut milk but there's a lot of different soup recipes in Asian cuisine and many of them use a lot of herbs and aromatics
Hello Victor, I just want to say that I love the fishing videos you make. I love your friendly attitude With everyone that you have even when they don't have good English. I've seen the videos from Panama. The guides there don't have good English, but you seem respectful to them, man. I congratulate you and I wish you the best.🏆
Sorry Vic, but I’m with Adam, as far as dolphin go. Don’t get me wrong…. I’ll cook/eat them if I catch them, but they’re WAYYYYYY down my list. I’ve had them every which way. To me, they’re bland and dry (and no, I don’t overcook them. Lol).
I really enjoyed this episode! The video was awesome and Viktor you are an amazing chef. I bet that Tilefish tasted incredible. Happy 2023 to you & to your lovely fiancée. I am looking forward to many more videos this year from both of you.
Happy New Year! Great start and the your new cameraman did great too. Your c-c-c was awesome, Chef V. My mouth was watering and I do believe I could even smell it through the video. Cheers!!!!
really like your fishing content but it seems your kitchen content is getting even better 😂 great catch and cook ...watching all the way from south africa🤘
I love that recipe! I cook a lot of west coast rockfish that way. Next time maybe try keeping the skin on the filets, fish keep a delicious layer of fat below the skin. Just use rock salt to get the slim off. Whole steamed fish is a very traditional Chinese New Year food as well. Awesome video Vic!
Vic that finished dish looked amazingly presented and delicious 🤤 love the camera guy’s work. And the fishermen crew 💯 cheers mate from Sint Maarten 🇸🇽 ❤
From the start up until now I really love your videos specially on how you explain what kind of fish you catch. Then how you clean it and cook it. I'm a huge fan! Bless and love from the Philippines...
I love this recipe and going to try it out myself. Not with Golden Tilefish because we don't have that here (Netherlands) but I'll find some other white flaky fish to use. Looks absolutely delicious and light.
In hawaii we steam fish with various ingredients, and tend to wrap not just fish but other meats in taro leaves, banana leaves, etc. You could use spinach and taro leaves, wrap it and eat it like that after steaming with your seasonings as well
When I used to fish in the ocean off Southern CA, I never used gear lighter then 30 pound test, and a much heavier rod. A lot of times I used my Penn 309 on a downrigger rod. Worked great, never broke a rod.
Since you're trying new cooking styles, why don't you attempt curing something? I haven't seen you do it...yet. It's time consuming, but soo good. Btw baked potato wins.
Great recipe, could get the liquids after cooking the fish , put in in a sauce pan, drop minced garlic and ginger, a Lil bit dark soy sauce, rice vinegar and corn startch mixed with a little water. To make a thicker sauce to drop on top at the end .
As for cooking, you should try out fishing freshwater bass, get a bunch like 500 grammers. Clean it out, cut off the head, leave the skin. Then smoke cook it in just a basic smoker, with birch wood, season with just salt, black pepper and butter. Delicious basic thing common in Sweden!
I steam fish all the time at home - easy recipe for the steaming sauce is.... Ginger / Shallots / Rosemary / Garlic / Lemongrass / Smoked Paprika / Soy / Pepper Serve over a bed of Basmati rice and you are good to go
Happy New Year! Good job on the steam fish. Can't believe you never tried it before. Staple Chinese style for snappers, whole. The peanut oil at the end makes the skin crispy, and releases the cilantro, etal. aromatics. Tight lines.
I like the way you appreciate the catch like the colors and everything I'd love to fish salt again fished it once when I was about 30 had a awesome surf fishing trip love to go out on a boat and fish that's a dream day in my books !!!
I've wondered why none of the youtubers steamed fish! It's great! Your recipe looks good but I was wondering about using that much sesame oil at the end. It's fairly strong. I use a little sesame oil for seasoning and then heat and pour regular cooking oil over it to finish. The cauliflower rice is a good idea too! I totally enjoy your channel!
I too was worried about the amount of sesame oil. It is incredibly overpowering and can ruin a dish quick. Go sparingly on the sesame, otherwise, a beautiful dish!!!!!
I gotta say Vic, I've seen plenty of yours and Adam's videos so far. One thing you smoke Adam at is filleting those fish. Watching him fillet a fish is like watching someone with Parkinson's do brain surgery with a wrench. 🤣
Is a pleasure that you made mention that you probably were born in the wrong familie and you should have been born as Spanish or Chinese but tell you what as Spanish person that is what makes you unique and gracious that you were born with the right family that brought you up with good sense of respect and ability to be the person you are to be able to bring all of this flavors and fishing knowledge and combined them into an unique form that no one else can match I have seen when you cooked the bull shark which you made sandwiches with and the type of poppers you are cool in your descriptions of your catches and excellent cooking and I thank you for the effort that you inspire others to match thank and God bless you in your six years of You tube videos.
Hey bud , just wanted to comment on the crab you were wondering about. I think it might be called a spyder crab I think they are the same or similar to a speceies up north when i would go fishing in jersey . Baked potatoe for the WIN !
Great video and Happy New Year, Victor! If you want the fish to taste more like the steamed fish at traditional Chinese restaurants, try using a soy sauce specific for steaming fish. If you're trying to preserve the taste of the tilefish, then using regular soy sauce is fine. Also, you might want to use less Sesame oil and mix it with Canola or Vegetable oil (1:3 ratio) when you sear the fish, because the Sesame oil has a pretty strong flavor, and it can drown out the taste of everything else. BTW: I'm not a cilantro fan, so I usually leave it out! LOL 😁
Happy new year! Let's settle this debate, who is on team potato and who's on team sweet potato.
Potato
Potatoes
Potato
potato for sure
Sweet potato here
The video and editing quality over the last year alone has been nothing short of tremendous
The crab is a spider crab and I am team potato, great video once again much love from the U.K also hi Brook xx
they were both potatoes…team sweet potato or team baked potato
Always glad to see you & Adam fishing together. Great collabs if he brings you along on his new boat!
Wow Vick! Starting the year off strong. One of my favorite videos so far!!!!!
Wow, thanks!
You broke the rod but you still landed that fish. Some people would get madd and quit. Then to make it better you let him go. A real sports fisherman you are VIK! Love the videos
I can’t stand when people get mad about it. It’s a part of fishing like you says!
@@LandsharkOutdoors yup

The fish in the water footage was an instant subscribe. Love the energy and cinematography.

The fish displayed in the thumbnail is only 14'' but my boy Victor is a "Show'er not a Grower" 😂😂😅
Best comment of 2023 so far 😂
😆🤣😂
Movin Weight!!!!! 😛
What a great catch, clean and cook video! We’re gonna have to try this one next. Our family favorite so far is the Mahi on Ciabatta bread. Thanks for another great video!!!

Back with Adam. Nice!! That guys great!
I definitely agree with Vic. Bake potatoes over sweet potato all day.
Also. Mahi is delicious.
Why does the TH-cam algorithm hate you? These videos should have 80k - 100k views after a day. Great job man always love your vids
I ask myself the same thing haha.

Glad you like them!
I love this recipe and going to try it out myself.
Not with Golden Tilefish because we don't have that here (Netherlands) but I'll find some other white flaky fish to use.
Looks absolutely delicious and light.
great video, Victor. you should put a GoPro on the line. It wouldn't work with jigging but if you set out some bait you could watch the fish eat it.
Loaded baked potatoes all day. Sweet potatoes are only good as fries, especially waffle fries baked on a cookie sheet.
I just watched that video yesterday of them catching black fin tuna with poppers. Great video.
Victor, when you guys do shrimp again, could you do a dimSum? My best to you and Brooke!

Great recipe, could get the liquids after cooking the fish , put in in a sauce pan, drop minced garlic and ginger, a Lil bit dark soy sauce, rice vinegar and corn startch mixed with a little water. To make a thicker sauce to drop on top at the end .

The thumbnail of the fish within a fish is awesome. 😆😍🤣😂🍻🍺
Great fishing as always.
Welcome to 2023. Happy fishing!
Happy new year!
What reel were you using for the golden tile? I’ve really been getting into deep water jigging.
Happy New Year Vic !!🎊🎆🎈🎉🥳🥳 ❤️❤️🙏🙏
The crab is probably a decorator quit crab.. They add bits of algae and pieces to their shell to hide them selves just an idea.
Looks great Victor Brook keep on catching those fish 🐟 love watching yall
Do you think this recipe would go good with halibut? I’ve got halibut in the freezer and ready to try something new with it.
Siiiiiick. Just plain siiiiick 😍😍😍

😍🥰VIC! BEST VIDEO THIS YEAR🥰🥰😍this year Vic love it now you make me wanna go buy a steamer❤️🇺🇸
That fish looks super tasty. If I cooked it, I'd add sesame oil to half to see which way I like better. Definitely a bucket list worthy meal.
Great Video LandShark

Other than grilling fresh dolphin medium, I do very little to them, and they are right up there with my other favorite fishes.
So cool how colorful the fish are down there
Golden tile fish are my favorite ocean fish
What setup is that you use for the slow jig! Love you videos by the way
It’s a deep water spider crab…rochinia crassa
glad you listened to us of which thumbnail to put
You guys discovered a new crab species!!!!!
Great Video! They never get old
Wow two at once on a jig . Impressive 🤙🏼
