I stopped looking a couple of years ago when i got my pair of 8's of these bad boys ! They are awesome ! Especially when you consider the price !! So i got the first series of Eris, they are slightly different looking than these ones. Did they change something inside also ? Did they add something new maybe ? I would really want to know. I'm really satisfied with them. I worked on Alesis, Dynaudio, JBL before and i honestly found these to be the flattest most accurate sounding of them all ! I was comparing them with Adam audio T7V and Yamaha HS8 and the Eris ruled them all. Every single thing you do in the mix, comes out on the finished track and that's what i needed (as everyone does). I have mine set up on FLAT everything i think.. Maybe i turned the -2 switch on but not sure.. If the room is treated i guarantee anyone who gets them will be happy. I know i am. I wouldn't trade them for different ones ever.
Presonus has always produced great hardware and software at affordable prices. They are a fantastic company that genuinely cares about its customers. Even though they are owned by Fender, their ethos still stands true.
Same here (hear?), but I added the T8 sub. I think it's a great setup for my small apartment, but a picky neighbor moved in right next door. I bought some good headphones, but miss cranking my great sounding speakers! Cheers!
@@mikemeengs5720 Sorry to hear that but yeah great choice! I also like that they are front ported for small rooms. Fingers crossed you get some music loving neighbours. 👍
I've owned the previous version of these since 2016 and I know I'd have to spend quite a lot of money to better their performance. Glad to see this video with your more than qualified impression on them. Thanks!
I mix on a pair of E7 xt, and they are great for the low cost. I find them to translate as well as substantially higher priced mix monitors. I took a trial due to how cheap they were, and the positive reviews, and kept them. The waveguide horizontal dispersion is 110, so I'm guessing that the new Studio has a widened profile for 120 degrees, with all else being equal to the prior E8 xt model. Thanks again for all that you share.
I have the 1st Gen E8s combined with T8 Temblor the trio sounds great. Had them for like 6 years or so and couldn't be happier, recently had a scare and thought 1 of them went out but it was just a cord lol. Was thinking of upgrading to the new Gen but don't really need it but the new Gens sound great
Great informational review helping us learn about tech while also learning about qualities which can help us understand and observe what is recorded in order to make adjustments when necessary.
Love everything Presonus including Studio One. I have the Eris e5’s with a T10 sub. However, that’s mainly for general music listening as I don’t have a treated room and therefore tend to mix through headphones. Namely, the ones manufactured by the company owned by the gentleman mixing in the next door studio. I hope he’s using them too.😅 Good to hear Hurricane again as I enjoyed mixing that track. Must revisit the 2 track and see if it still sounds good to me.
It's important to note that these are not E8's but E8 XT's which are a reworked model of the original E8. They have an extended low end and a special tweeter setup for a wider sweetspot and less reflexions on the table. I initially owned the E8 until the tweeters failed and I had to bring them back to the vendor. They were basically forced to refund me within their extend 3 year warranty because Presonus didn't want to repair them after their own 2 year warranty ended. Not sure what that says about Presonus.. Besides that I do like both models, but these are/were my first monitors, so...
You can tell the acoustics in that room are amazing just hearing your voice in the video. My control room is most likely too small for 8's unfortunately.
I bought one. Yes, one (for mono mixing). But I actually do something probably no one else does with this monitor. I double mic it and use it as a guitar cab basically. I'm running through an analog Tech 21 Tri-AC into the speaker and throwing a sm57 close midway on the cone and a Cascade Fathead II ribbon mic around a foot from the tweeter. I blend the two, using the latter just for high frequency content. Ya never know how much mileage you can get from one piece of gear! I could even mic this for bass guitar (and may). Anyhow, while I loved my pair of much more expensive monitors with ribbon tweeters, this model is sufficiently revealing and the low cut option is amazing for untreated rooms. I find removing those sub 80Hz frequencies makes focusing on the main mix easier and then headphones and checking on other speakers, such as portable bluetooth, does the trick to get that sorted. still using the Blue Sadies you once recommended and they just served me well during my first session ever trying out Mix:analog (and their Fairchild clone, which is AMAZING!) hard to believe I acquired mine new from zZounds for only $159 What about the subwoofer, Warren?
I have the older series and they test phenominaly flat in REW. (room is acoustically treated) I also have the T10 subwoofer, but find myself mixing more without the sub. They have a nice evenly smooth bass rolloff.
I bought a pair of Eris XT8's...got them for a good price brand new...very impressed...after running in for a couple of weeks with a burn in CD on repeat they sound fantastic, for the price the amps inside & drive units are really good quality...luv the 1.25" tweeter with a 100° x 60° wide dispertion tweeter wave guide....the best bit for me is you can ajust the mids as well as the treble & various bass options making them easy to dial in a good sound in most rooms....after burning in the bass is clearer,i play bass so hence buying the XT8's rather than smaller models in the range....the best i've ever bought...used with quad star XLR cables squeezes the best out of them but have to watch the volume level as 6db gain using quad star studio quality XLR cables....yours should be sounding burnt in now & even better than when you first heard them in this video....happy mixing 👍🎸🎤
I have a set of the first gen eris e8's and I think they're great. Not mind blowing, but leagues beyond the other similarly priced 8's I've heard. I think the newer Eris series monitors benefit from a redesigned HF driver geometry. They sorta make it into a horn, which really helps project the higher frequencies from the cut-rate driver they most likely use. Like obviously my Focal solo 6s have so much more clarity in that upper register, but the beryllium driver alone in one of those costs more than the presonus monitors as a whole.
I have the old (2019) E5s, and I've had a lot of problems with the soldering on my monitors and Sub. The sub went after the warranty but the Eris' were covered. I hope they stepped up the build quality on these.

Turn down the HF 1-1,5db and these speakers are basically close to perfect for that kind of money. I think the value from these are insane, but as everything in the price bracket, they are voiced too bright from factory. Dressed to impress I guess 😂

Am producing some bass heavy electronic music, trap, dubstep kind of a thing, looking to upgrade my current setup, a pair of erix 8 XT's, am thinking these, paired with the eris 10" sub, or, jump ships and get the focal alpha evo's paired with their sub one...any thoughts? Anybody? 😂
Any options on the back?
what is the white stuff on the moniters?
Reflection in the cone from the LED lights above/behind Warren.
I think that's jut the light reflecting off the blue kevlar cones bud. Had the old ones and they did the same.
Yes, just the lighting!
How is it different from Eris E8 XT ?
Intriguing 🎉
Yes, indeed!!
Turn down the HF 1-1,5db and these speakers are basically close to perfect for that kind of money. I think the value from these are insane, but as everything in the price bracket, they are voiced too bright from factory. Dressed to impress I guess 😂
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Those or the Mackie’s 🤔
I don't know the Mackie's so I can't comment!
@@Producelikeapro I never even looked in Mackies direction at the music store and really didn’t think much of the brand at all but I’ll tell you a working DJ/sales guy at guitar center recommended them over everything they had at the time. Hesitantly I got the 3” model CR3BT (something like that) and the 8” sub CR8S-XBT as a travel mobile rig and long story short AWESOME
V nice
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
Many people have problems with tweeters going out due to bad soldering. Both of my tweeters went out days apart. Stay away.
