Kali Audio’s IN-8 has been heralded as one of the most accurate powered studio monitors in its price range, and the second-wave version ups the ante with a new amplifier platform, improved transducers, and an upgraded cabinet. The IN-8 V2 uncovers every detail in your mix - it’s brutally honest. Nothing is boosted or attenuated to mask flaws or spice up its sound, so what you hear is what you get.
In addition to a ruler-flat frequency response, the IN-8 V2 exhibits negligible levels of distortion, ample headroom, and impressive low-end extension for an 8-inch speaker. This speaker’s coaxial design boasts directivity that surpasses any non-coaxial speaker, enveloping your entire room in a uniform soundstage. Its low-noise port tube yields clean, punchy bass. And thanks to its boundary compensation EQ, it sounds great in a myriad of environments. The IN-8 V2 includes an integrated Class D power amp, along with balanced XLR and TRS inputs, and an unbalanced RCA input.
At the end of the day, the Kali Audio IN-8 V2 is a studio monitor that you can trust.
The IN-8 V2 offers ultra-transparent sound reproduction, enabling you to hear every detail of your mix. This starts with an exceptionally accurate frequency response. What’s more, this studio monitor employs larger magnets and voice coils than others in its class, resulting in super-accurate low-end response and impressive low-frequency extension.
The IN-8 V2 empowers you to mix with confidence. Once you dial it in on a set of these monitors, it will sound great everywhere.

The Kali IN-8 V2's have definitely impressed us! What speakers are you currently using? Don't forget to enter to win 1 of 3 pairs of the Kali IN-8 V2 speakers by clicking the link above
But we want to know which "expensive" speakers you got !?? 😎
@@fausto_colella PSI maybe?
I use Yamaha HS8 but of course would like to try something new, especially when you say Kalis are good on low end. My monitors have lack of low end so I mostly mix and master in Blue Lolas headphones :)
WARREN, ERIC, Why do you not decouple your monitors from the counsel with at least foam or isopads?? Are you not hearing the counsel with them sitting right on it??? Please reply as this goes against everything I have ever read on this. I would like to understand your thinking ..., thsnks
I use spirit absolute 2 speakers with upgrade tweeters with sonarworks. I am totally well over due an upgrade. They have served me well though.
I've been using IN-8s for six months and love them. I remember being worried about the hiss before I got them, but the very minor hiss hasn't been an issue at all. It doesn't even enter into the equation when I am mixing. If I needed more monitors, I wouldn't hesitate on IN-8 v2.
I purchased the Kali IN-8 V1 monitors almost a couple years ago. I watched your video on them & I totally agree with you. There's nothing wrong with the original version. They are just as smooth. I was just in Nashville weeks ago with the artist I currently play for & the producer who is producing him is a very well known person (he's produced some major hits). He couldn't believe that the demo of one of the songs (a song that my artist wrote & we the band recorded) was done at a home studio, on live drums (no samples), and mixed thru mid price monitors (Kali IN-8 V.1). He complimented me, by asking "Why wasn't I in Nashville working in a major studio as a recording & mix engineer?" Whether or not he meant it or not, I really appreciated the compliment. And thank to your video on the original Kali IN-8's, I have heard a major difference in my mixes. Prior to the Kali purchase I was mixing thru the JBL LSR4828P monitors. Which also brought my mixing up to a new level until they were stolen back 2019.
I bought the Kali LP6 after your review a couple years ago. Still in love with them. They are perfect for my small mixing room. About to get a bigger room and these 3 ways may be perfect. Thanks again for all you do!
That's wonderful to hear!
Just had a quick question for you Warren & here it is.....Do you think you'll be sitting in that same studio, behind that same console even after you're 70? Reason i asked was because you've accomplished so many great things in your lifetime & even till this day, you're still doing music. That just inspires me & motivates me so strongly knowing I'm not alone. I'm only 23 & music is what i chose to do for the rest of my life so seeing you still at it, gives me a huge sign of comfort & peace.
We are mixing on the Kali LP-6. I love them, but would definitely love to upgrade to the 3-way version :)
Also, I love the way that you are always the student as well Warren! Being able to admit that you would go back and mix it differently shows that you have grown as a producer while being sensei for so many of us. Wonderfully marvelous!
Warren, I have been using a set of Kustom three way 50 Watt PA speakers. And Sony MDR-7506 headphones. The PA speakers colored the upper mids and don’t have a great bass response so lately have been mixing mainly with headphones. I just received my pair of the new IN-8’s yesterday and everything you said is true. Listening to my mixes on them I hear what needs fixing, immediately! And there is zero hiss. I have become an instant fan of Kali Audio.
You were one of the people that convinced me to get the LP-6s, and I love them! Hope to be able to upgrade to these one day
Thanks ever so much Nick!
Same here!
I sprung for the LP8S. Had I known I would currently be mixing in an apartment? I probably would of stayed with my first impulse of the LP6s. Still? I absolutely love them, and the added low end helps as I currently experiment with standard C and baritone guitar work. Absolutely brilliant monitors for the investment. Congratulations on choosing an excellent pair of monitors!
Cheers!
Well I just ran out and bought a pair after this video. I sonar worksed them and boom I'm up. Fantastic so far. I am switched my Sterling MX8's and I am very happy. Much more detail in the mids and the bass seem a bit tighter. I have been looking for some new monitors. Thank you Warren!
I have Kali LP-6's and IN-8's in my studio now. I love the way they sound. I can only imagine how good the new amps are, but I have no problem with my current setup. Thanks for the review.
is there much difference with LP and IN for improving mixes? I have LP6's and am upgrading. thanks
@@nickhyder9141 There is a difference in sound. The IN-8's are more open sounding. I use them after I believe I've got my mix together to check balance and low end. I primarily mix through my LP-6's and Auratone's.
@@41Cavin thanks! so in your experience, LP-6's are easier to mix on?
I‘m using the Focal Twin 6 Be and I really love my monitors in my room. I compare them with many other speakers and for me it was the perfect match.
Kali Owner here!
Good: Kali Speakers have a good flat frequency response applicable for mixing. They sound better to my ears than other speakers from the similar price range.
Bad: They have a hiss (about 100% buyers would say that). It's not too loud and something that may bother you, but there's a hiss. Secondly, my speakers occasionality turn off once in 3 hours (some other people report the same issue).
The hiss was ridiculous..had to sell mines becuase of it
you are talking about version 1, version 2 demoed here dont have this issue
I use the LP 6 with a sub
My mixes improved so much. Thanks KALI and Warren. 🤘🎶🎶
Thanks ever so much!
Kali LP-6s here based on budget, ratings, specs, and the recommendation of you (Warren) and Glenn Fricker.
Warren I hope you as well are having a marvelous day! Touching bass from SBL again. The move from just retired to once again bass performance and recording is moving along well. I tell every musician I meet about PLAP. Your expertise in helping "we the financed challenged" into decent recording gear is priceless. Thank you.
I was planning on buy a tiny Mackie pair of monitors, now I think the Kali LP-6(8) will fit the bill. Until I can move up to a better level like the Kali IN-8. 4 LIVE performances here in New Mexico in the last week and a half! Life and Music are Returning !
I have had these speakers for a little while now, but I wasn’t able to listen to them until today (Busy life). My friend and I checked them out and we were blown away. I was expecting them to be good, but I wasn’t expecting them to be that good. I should be getting the Kali sub this coming Monday. I will probably be a sleepless wreck with anticipation until then. lol
Yes! They are very impressive!!
I use the Kali LP-6s and love them.
These seem really great, I wonder how much of an improvement they'd be.
Massive improvement. And a really nice A-B.
Thanks to you Ive got them a few months ago. I must say, that the clarity provided by these monitors are out of this world!
I use LP-6s per your recomendation and love them!!!
Thanks ever so much!
I must say that my experience with Kali would have been without problems. My LP-6 sound great, but two different speakers were shipped with broken amps that creates a small distortion noise after just few weeks of light use. This appears to be a common issue with products shipped to Europe. Its an absolute pain in the butt to be exchanging speakers. The speaker that I got as warranty replacement had the same issue. So the Kalis will no go to the home theater and I will get some proper speakers. I believe this is the true cost of affordable speakers: something has to give, there is no free lunch and it is manufacturing quality and durability or some components that are compromised. Next time, I will just buy something like Genelecs.
You're getting me hyped! Especially with your point that they didn't just stop at great speakers, they made them even better. Can't beat a company that doubles down on it's own products at the same price point.
Thanks ever so much for sharing
I own the KRK Rockit 8 2nd generation and I own the Kali Audio LP6
got my LP-8s since two years now! Loved them every minute...just ordered those beauties today....and my trust and love in this amazing company made me sell my LP-8s even before hearing the new IN-8s V2 :D
I'm using a pair of Genelec 1029a. These were discontinued in 2005. I used them for many years when I lived in Switzerland. After moving to the US, I found a pair of used ones on EBay really cheap. They're rock solid and super reliable. I combine them with a very affordable subwoofer, a Presonus Temblor T8. Very happy with my setup.
I already use Kali IN-8's. They're amazing. They replaced a horrible set of Nexus 8's that I bought years ago. I actually bought the Kalis after watching your review of the LP6's. I figured the IN8's have got to be good if their 6in lower-end set were that goo
Been on Genelec 1031's for years, just moved to the 1032c's a couple weeks ago! They've been great!
I love your channel . I started recording in 1979. With a Sony two track, then a Teac four track, then a Tuscan eight track, the a really old Studer sixteen track, then a twenty four track Studer A80. Now I am just on a MacBook Pro, high spec. I use, a pair of KRK, 6’s plus an original pair if Yamaha NS 10’s, plus an original pair of Auratones from 1980. I can’t afford a decent pair of monitors because of situations beyond my control. I would love a pair of Genlecs.
I used to own a pair of Yamaha NS1000's but my dad made me give them away. I was still young and living with my parents. They sounded awesome but the bass made the house shake which he wasn't a fan of, even at lower volumes. God they sounded so good. I'll never be able to afford an other pair. :( I saw in a documentary that Brian Eno has a pair of NS1000's too.
I have the IN-8 and they sound amazing for the price, but if the new version Is even better, and for the same price, it's just a steal, go a get them!
Right in time to watch during my lunch break... thank you Warren... 💫🔮🎼 ...thank you Kali.. 🔈💪💡🎯
Thanks ever so much!
@@Producelikeapro I freakin love you Warren... I mean to email you all the time... my music never dies... ⚡️💫🎼
i had decided to go with the new Focal Alpha Evo 65's due to the everything i was hearing about the IN-8's self noise, but now that they have taken the time to listen to their customers, and address one of the only main complaints i've read about the IN-8's, I may now be back on the Kali bandwagon, and pick myself up a pair of these guys.
So good to hear!
How are the Evo 65's? Can't find reviews of them anywhere. They aren't super budget like the older version were priced so it makes me hesitant to purchase them as Focal don't want to put any DSP into them.
@@billmuertos i never actually tried the focals. i just know focal is a very respected brand with top quality monitors, so i was trusting that a newly updated monitor would sound great. but Kali offering an 8" speaker in the same price range, while also updating their line based on customers reviews, makes me want to lean heavily in Kali's favor going forward.
Coming from DT880 cans, I first tried KH120, but to me they were not up to the hype they get. Finally I went oldschool with used 1031a, which I like a lot. Having the reflex openings on the front helps a lot when operating in acoustically suboptimal environments.
Would be interesting to hear those Genelec compared to the Behringer b2031a
Funny enough I was waiting a while for these to be released, but I ended up going with another tier up (at least in price) to the Dynaudio LYD 48's and they are pretty incredible to me. I've been able to hear a new depth to the detail of reverbs, transients, and my mixes tend to translate very well compared to my previous very entry level system. Well done! I'd love to hear these Kali's one day and see how they compare!
Hey Warren.. I’m using the Kali LP 6 as my main driver for 3 years now.. i love them, i enjoy listening on them.. Im planning to buy new speakers ( i have dynaudio LD7 and newmann kh 120 A G in mind), would you strongly recommend these IN8’s?.. My style of music is Indian Bollywood, western pop, electronic and movie scores.. and i mix my own songs..
hello , i personally use Tannoy reveal passive i guess it would be an amazing upgrade !!! may the force with all of us but especially with me , no offense :)
Hi Warren
I use a pair of 5 inch M-Audio speakers (that's what I could afford), they are... enouhg to make music for sure, but I'm really looking forward to upgrade them!
I really wish I could give hundreds of upvotes for the correct use of "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" rather than the nonsensical "proof is in the pudding." Great work, Warren. (monitors also look great :-D
Haha thanks ever so much!
I have an old pair of JBL, time for a change... sounds like a good option.
I’m using Dynaudio LYD48 3-way speakers. Love them!
Question: How do people turn on and off their powered speakers or don't they? I'd prefer not to leave speakers on over night and I don't want to pop them by plugging them into a power board and flicking switches there.
Currently using Kali LP-8s and an old set of Behringer MS40's. The LP8s are damn good for what they cost. I was on the fence with maybe replacing the MS40s with some Kali IN-5, but i am going to try the Focal ALPHA 50 EVO's as well I think in store if we ever get out of lockdown.
I use mainly Genelecs. After all, they come from my hometown in Finland, and you can't beat the monitors that are made on the land next door, in a landscape full of healthy forests and water.
I know these aren't intended to take the place of consumer bookshelf speakers in a small living room...but I'm curious how they would sound in that use case? Would they have as much detail and clarity compared to similarly priced "audiophile" speakers?
I was actually thinking the same thing, they do sound very flat indeed!!
Thanks Warren, I nabbed a pair of the Kali LP 6's for my home set up... on your recommendation and I love them. Thanks always for your honest and fun reviews and lessons. Cheers, Chris
Hi Warren another great informative video. I like a company that listens to the feedback from their customers and makes the improvements even if they are really good already, it says a lot about them.
Great info Warren! Always love your input! My HS80s are almost 20 years old. First gen...been thinking of upgrading they are muddy in the high kids now and super fatiguing but I know them well!
I literally bought a set of IN8s in March! Due to busy schedule I had set them aside and never even unboxed them. Now I want to trade up! Nice review.
Thanks ever so much Jack!
Using LP-6 at the moment, which have come in handy this last 14 months or so... As a live guy who's now had to transition into more broadcast style mixing, I'm super grateful to have these, and they'll do me well until I can afford to drop a few thousand on something nicer
I use Kali N-8 speakers. They sound awesome in my room. I’ve had them for a year.
Thanks Warren.
Fantastic Shannon!
Do you listen music on them? What room?
Nice that you approve of the updated Kali's. I was going to get the 3-Way's before but; hopefully I get them to replace my age old Tannoy PBM-8s
Right now using a pair of M-AUDIO BX8, but hope to upgrade :) They have pretty unpleasant 3kHz, they do not go all that high, but well, I mixed quite a few track using them and I've learned a thing or two :) For the price paid they were not bad.
what should i get then? adam audio tv series? or the kalis????
Hello, I just purchased a pair of these today. I have been using a pair of Yamaha HS80m. When doing my research on new monitors, the closest sounding to these in the comparable price range was Yamaha HS8 believe it or not. I still have the old HS80s but these sound very true.
I love the fact the Warren is real One! I could hear what he was hearing over the web. Really cool.
Man this Piano sounds great !
Thanks ever so much!
I’ve been wanting a pair of the Kali IN’s for a while now. I’ve had the same pair of ELESIS monitors for about 18 years (the ELESIS mk 2 active. They are a bit boomy, and not very detailed). I’ve been upgrading my equipment lately, but it takes time and money to build (plus, justifying these purchases to my wife and myself isn’t always easy). I used to mix and record pretty regularly between 2000, and 2012 (myself and local small time artists), but I have six kids and I had to redirect my energy and money. We are now in a place where I can start getting back into music again.
Hey Warren, which Trevor Hall mix are you referring to? Any chance it's available on YT or streaming platforms? Many thanks.
Here it is:- open.spotify.com/track/0c7iF5fSBYxCuwsAv2z4iI?si=8645364fcc3248c8
🤣When you said, "Dipswitch" I immediately thought of a man I knew regularly used the word "dipstick." Sadly both he and his wife recently passed away within a month of each other. Wheat farmers in Colorado. It's so strange all three generations of them I knew, are now gone. Reminded me of Red Skelton calling every incompetent machinery mechanic and field hand a dipstick. Dipstick died of Covid harvesting his last crop, after recovering from a stroke a few months earlier. Just in January. I'll just consider these speakers dipswitches a spiritual sign. 😂😇😇😇😇😇.
I'm still using my old Mackie Hr624s. They work perfectly, but I always think it would help expand my mixing perspective to change things up, after listening to the same mons for almost 15yrs!. I've been really tempted by the IN 5" version.
You and many others say the same thing......the low end is strong but not hyped, detailed but not wimpy.
Under $1000 for a pair of fine 8" 3ways is a helluva QPR! 😉
¡Hola!🙂
Dime la verdad por favor ¿cuáles monitores son los mejores? Adam A7V o Kali IN-8 v2? ¿O hay otro mejor por un precio similar?
I just start into mixing this year. I currently use headphones, the famous audio technica ath-m50x and wave abey road studio. I know there's nothing like mixing with good monitor so I was looking for a pair of yamaha hs5 but now I'll take the time to look at kali's product.
Well I use your same headphone and waves abbey road studio... today
Hut looking out for studio monitors . Though I get a good master fro. The abbey road studio .it's a god send.
Did youngonfor the kali or r yanaha and what has been your experience after your headphone setup .. with the monitors.
Thanks in advance.
I use the LP-6 and absolutely love them! In fact, I bought them because of your recommendation. Kali is such a great company and the updated IN-8 sound incredible.
Fantastic video mate. How do I calibrate it to the room? Is that any such feature? Isnt this is very important? I dont believe the tuning feature give the same results as calibrate a speaker for a room?
Well, that was a little bit painful. I just spent 2k on the Neumann KH80/750 DSP, to replace my iLoud MTM’s - I was very happy with the MTM’s, but there really is no other option than to go on cans when you want to hear what happens with the low end. Seeing your review makes me wonder if I took the wrong decision. Still waiting for the delivery of the Neumann’s, so at least, if I don’t like them, I could send them back and order the Kali’s. :)
Great video! Would you recommend their sub with these?
Yes! Their sub hits way above the price point!
Up until early 2020 the Bluesky System One. 2.1. Loved that sound and found it perfect for my dialogue mixing work. Then one of my closest friends and a fellow dialogue mixer passed away suddenly(get your heart checked mate) and left me his KM120A speakers. I was already eyeing them as a replacement, so these have been my main speakers for the past year. Good low end that I sometimes supplement with a custom sub, especially when I‘m mixing for a 5.1 show. Smooth high end and mids. Workable all day which is one of my gripes with the midrange Genelecs(103x) which struck me as a bit too honest.
I‘m definitely checking out the Kali IN-8 v2 in the speaker room of my local supplier, as soon as possible. They have KM120A speakers there too so a comparison without taking them home first is possible.
I already got the IN-5s and the IN-8 are a little big for my situation. KALI is amazing.
Running HS7’s with the HS8 sub, in a smaller room than I’d like with tons of treatment from GIK, Sonarworks does some gentle sculpting of the remaining problem areas. I’ve used RoomEqWizard and sonarworks extensively to measure response and I found the most amazing thing I ever did was just to treat the room. Huge difference in RT60 and frequency response. If I didn’t have that it really wouldn’t matter much what speakers I had. With it I’m pretty happy with the Yamahas. Now however the question is what’s the next level of awesome!? I have to admit I really loved MDN’s video on this channel about his mixing setup so I’m trying to learn to maximize what I have before I move on but it does seem like some great stuff is out there when I’m ready for it!
They must be amazing! I don,t really need a sub with my IN-5’s. I’m so happy with my Kali speakers!!!
That's amazing to hear!
Do you prefer the in-5 or this in-8 v2?
Thanks for your review.
It would depend on the size of the room
@@Producelikeapro So it's in a living room approx. 35 squaremeters. Listening position is about 2,5 meters away and there is a wall just behind that. I also have a subwoofer i can pair with them if needed. What would you choose?
Affordable and efficient is the best kind of product! Awesome work!
Couldn't agree more!
@@Producelikeapro yeah!
@@RC32Smiths01 marvellous!
@@Producelikeapro certainly!
Just curious - what is your honest opinion of the Kali 3-ways vs. the Focal 3-ways (even like the 8" version of the Focal - I know you have the 11")? Thanks as always for your great content.
Pretty happy with my Kali LP8's, But these sure looks nice. Maybe someday...
Thank you for the review!!May i ask how you compare them with Focal Shape Twin because i am between these two? Thanks!!
I have a pair of Presonus Eris E5's, and a sub. It took a while to get the crossover between the monitors and the sub just right, but they are incredibly good for their size and price. It's a small room with strategically placed absorbers, and has served me well with tracking and mixing.
I'd love to get a quantum leap upward though.
JBL708 (love them) Genelec 8050B/A (for a long time, and loved them)
I am using Kali LP6s would love to upgrade to IN8s
I have the KALI LP 8 speakers and love them but now you've gone and made me want to upgrade again. I entered hope to win so that I do not have to go out spend money to upgrade.
I've bought kali in5 last week. didnt have time to open package. and now im wondering: should i replace them with new in8? can you compare them?
I wish I'd seen this when you released it! I mostly work on a pair of Eve sc305's, and love them! With a pair of M-Audio BX8a Deluxe monitors (which were my second ever set of monitors, and while they may not be the best, I know them extremely well) as my second pair. Everything I've heard about the Kali's makes me want to chuck the M-Audio's for a pair of in8's! Really sad I missed out on the competition. Oh well, probably wouldn't have won anyway 🤷🏽♀️
Hi Daphne! Next time! Thanks for the great message!
I use a pair of Hedd Type 20s, and I'm head over heels in love with them
Appreciate all you do, I feel like speaker reviews are all the same. Which usually consists of the reviewer owning nicer high end monitors. Feel like a speaker review should consist of a mix that was done on their own set of speakers and then a mix done on the review. Seems like the only way we would get an understanding of how these translate? I know we can always just buy and return but that’s a pretty toxic footprint we need to get out of. Saying all this as i am searching for a proper 8” monitor solution without a sub. Again thank you for the video the continued information you share it’s appreciated more than you know.
Switched my small genelecs to Hedd Type-05 and got myself Sonarworks SoundID. In my "studio" apartment room it would be a waste of money to run any expensive speakers without Sonarworks. And this room has decent acoustics already.
I do all my recording/mixing on headphones, but have held off on mastering as I haven't any speakers. But, I have been looking into the Kali stuff as they are incredibly impressive with their price point.
I just got a pair of Kali LP-8s. They're a bit noisy and there's something odd about the upper-mids but I can't complain at that price.
I spend most of my time on a set of Paradigm 3SEs with consumer grade Polk sub.
I was just wondering about the results of this giveaway since this video was released way back in May!
Well, I just received an Email Today (July 14th, 2021) from *PLAP* that I had actually won a pair of these! :-) I never win anything, so it was a shock!
Luckily, I happened to check my "Junk" email folder today because that's where the winning notification email ended up! :-/ I think this is because it was sent from a slightly different email address than the normal *PLAP* notification emails.
So you should all be seeing more info posted very soon as there were a total of 3 pairs being given away.
However *PLAP* might wait a week or so to confirm all of the winners before posting publicly on social media, but I'd imagine that the other winners were also notified today.
So check your Spam & Junk email folders, people!
*THANK YOU* Kali Audio AND Produce Like A Pro!!! You guys ROCK!
I use Kali LP8, happy with them, but if someone turn back the time for me, I'll probably save money for this beast. So much amazing.
Exciting video!
I have a pair on the way and never
heard these in person but I think I
made the right decision with these V2s.
Thanks for sharing this.
Update, how are they?
@@3ATTR1X I think they are great, and my search is over. I would highly recommend anyone to give these monitors a try.
Great to hear Little Empire when testing speakers! Superb!
I’m not up with powered speakers so am still using a pair of Passive Alesis Monitor One that I bought in 90’s, with an Alesis RA100 reference amp.
Warren great video as always. I just watched your review for the Focal Trio 11s , did you end up keeping a pair of those? What are you using as your "main" monitors these days?
Yes! I got the Focals and I have some new speakers coming VERY soon!!
@@Producelikeapro very cool. Your statement that the trio 11s aren’t fatiguing after listening all day really spoke to me. I haven’t heard them yet but from the reviews they almost seem to fall between the ATC scm25s and the barefoot micromain45s. Don’t need a sub like the atcs, but less clinical than the barefoots. Does that seem fair or am I talking out of my a$$? The focals are definitely at the top of my list. Thanks again brother 🙌😎
Really enjoy your channel. I have the IN-8 V1's which I like very much. The mix translates nicely to my car. I'm looking for a candid opinion here. Question #1 - Would it be a worthwhile improvement if I upgraded to the IN-8 V2s? Honestly, I have never really noticed the "noise" issue that was addressed with the V2's. Question #2 - Is there a reason to "upgrade" to the IN-5's (assuming that the drop in bottom end response would not be overshadowed by another improvements of the IN-5s over the IN-8 V1's). Or, just keep what I've got?
Thanks ever so much Andy! I would personally stay with what you’ve got, the slight increase in sled noise etc is not enough for me to change up the speakers
I wouldn’t go to the IN-5’s if you have the 8’s. You’d probably want a sub with them
@@Producelikeapro Thank you sir!
I use the focal alpha 65 (not evo), and I´m very happy with them.
I bought 1032's last christmas, and I'm still getting used to them. The biggest problem I've had on more expensive monitors like this, is everything sounds good on them. I can crank up the low end to infinity and they still sound good, until I pop the mix into a consumer system and the woofers lunge at me and try to bite my ankles. The GLM system does help a lot. I've tuned my initial calibration to add in a hint more low end to "fool" me to take it easy. I could have gotten The Ones, but only the small The Ones (awkward name), and I need a bit more ompf, so 1032's it is. I've gotten accustomed to the Genelec sound since over 15 years now and I do like the sound of the 1000-series, not a fan of the 8000-series, they tend to sound a bit too much HiFi (IMO). The Ones I have yet to listen to. I'm not a pro by any means, nor a blues lawyer, just a happy hobbyist creating albums in his play house. :-)
Thanks for the review, I work with Yamaha MSP monitors, but I hear the shortcomings when I put on my Ultrasone Headphone up. But most of the time I end up in my car, playing cd. But it would be great if I could hear the mix in the studio. Sunset, did that mix two months ago, love the song.
Already have v1 of the IN-8s... So tempted to upgrade to these for the lower self noise. Otherwise I've been very happy with their sound. 😎🎶
LIKE... WANT!!! I monitor on headphones which, although very detailed, can become tiring on the ears... consider them an early Christmas prezzy!! 🤓👍
I use Tannoy system 800 1200 and Blue sky Prodesk. For monitoring mixing on headphones Sennheiser HD-590 and Focusrite VRM box. Really want to buy a active Dsp Monitor for room tuning but Genelecs 8341 concetrics are way to expensive so smaller 8330 with a sub maybe is option or another brand without Dsp and use Sonarworks celebration instead. Listend to Kali in 8 today they sound good. The three way system makes a big difference. Compared to the Kali 8 and 6 in-8 have more resolution in the midrange and bit more bottom they sound big and Warm at least in the demo room in musicstore. The hi range on the kali 8 and 6 is a bit more focused compared to the IN-8. Also listend to Dynaudio Lyd 7 they sound really good. Also Listend to Neumann KH 120 they sound good to but compared to Genelec 8330 the Genelec have a more focused sound and different voicing that instantly feels better for mixing. One of the best Monitors i ever heard is Focal twin 6 Be but that was in very good mixing room with great acoustics and the twin 6 was also so fit mounted in the walls. Another Monitor that stod out from the rest were the Barefoot footprint 01 they sound excellent but that was also in mixing room with Great acoustics treatment.
I’m so bummed- selling my house and buying a mini farm- which is awesome- but I’ve had to tear down the studio!! The new studio will need to be built, and I’m planning to build it in a 100- year old barn. So, for the foreseeable future, it’ll be very minimal setup!!
Wow... I have been waiting for this. Thank you produce like a pro and kali Audi
Our pleasure!
