This is what my 65 year old cedar A-frame cabin sounds like in a storm. The cabin is very large and is basically an upside-down sailboat that is landlocked high in a Cascades rainforest where it storms quite frequently. Add a crackling fireplace and you'll get an idea if how well we sleep up here.
After I left the Navy I put my bed in the laundry room and couldn't fall asleep without the running washer or dryer. Having the ambient sound of a gas turbine engine and hull creaking for years made silence incredibly unnerving. Silence is still unnerving to this day and I'll wake up if everything is silent; silence on the ship meant something really bad was happening.

A long time ago when I was young, I worked aboard a traditional wood sailing yacht. During this time we made several transatlantic crossings. Below decks at night was quite stuffy, I used to enjoy sleeping on deck. From time to time it did rain, but most of the time I was able to stay reasonably dry. This soundtrack has reminded me of happy times that I haven't thought about for some time. Thankyou
Last night I wasn't kipping on a strange uncomfortable sofa with a thin blanket over me. I was snuggled under the sail and spare rigging of a ship on the ocean, the swell of the sea making the old ship talk as I sailed away from life's hassles. Perfect. Thanks. A superb end to a naff day. :-)

Ah. I miss this sound. I've had the pleasure of spending many nights on a 60' wooden ship. The sound of the barnacles is missing, though. They click lightly and constantly. It's sounds almost like the sound of rain on a roof. Very soothing.

@@TadBaterbomb honestly, they were more subdued and unclear. Not vivid in the slightest and in the beginning I was on the verge of waking up cause it felt like the floor would give out under my feet. But once I was under it was GG for wakefulness cause I was out like a light.
Anyone with an ounce of sea water in their blood should love this. Grew up by the ocean and later in life spent time aboard boats. What would put the perfect kiss on this for me would be the faint audible fog signal from the lighthouse about 5NM from my home. As sedative a way to pipe down now as it was back over fifty years ago . . .
Lovely. The apartment I had in San Francisco in the 80s had an old horizontal pivot window that creaked very similarly when open and made me happy. Plus a huge seagoing vessel would blow its foghorn every now and then, adding to the ambiance. Gotta go...this vid is putting me to sleep. 😉

the last place on earth i want to be = the most cozy comforting possible thing to fall asleep to.
So nice! Sleep well fellow pirate 😴💤
Just listened to this on the last night of our rocky cruise and I must say, rocking on the ship with this is quite the experience
Ive heard this creaking from trees in the woods. Not as loud but soothing. I also love the sound and smell of saddles. Lol.
I miss being on boats, sleeping, hearing the sounds of the ship, rain, winds, the tight ropes on the masts slapping against it when the wind picks up, the bells that some times make a little noise.
Very interesting, I've heard a lot of different things to help you fall asleep, but this is the first I've come across with creaking of a ship. I'll have to give it a whirl tonight.
Thank you for something new!
Well you are so very welcome! 😴
i feel like im in pirates of the caribbean and i absolutely love it
I just suscribed,
I feel onboard THE BLACK PEARL, greetings from México
Great! Glad you are enjoying some good rest onboard the Pirate ship 😃👍
I can’t sleep without this Thanku so much it’s the best sound for sleeping
thankful for your comment 🙏 so glad you like it
Very unique, amazing how relaxing this is.
Was waiting for an "aaaaaaaarrrrrh" or "land ho" but smooth sailing none the less.
Glad you enjoyed it. Rest easy 😴💤
Ah. I miss this sound. I've had the pleasure of spending many nights on a 60' wooden ship. The sound of the barnacles is missing, though. They click lightly and constantly. It's sounds almost like the sound of rain on a roof. Very soothing.
There once was a ship that took to sea
The name of the ship was the Billy O Tea
The winds blew up, her bow dipped down
Oh blow, my bully boys, blow
Nice shanty fellow pirate! Thanks for sharing 🙌
HUUUUah!!!
Soon may the Wellerman come, to bring us Sugar, and Tea, and Rum, one day when the tonguing is done, we'll take our leave and go.
We are outward bound for Kingston town
With a heave-o, haul!
An' we'll heave the ol' wheel round an' round
Good mornin' ladies all
Gae
Fabulous a porthole would be great and a hammock and the smell of salt water. 🙂🍻
What about the smell of sweaty balls cuz that's all you'd find on a pirate ship
Oh yes! That really sets you up for an experience of the seas 🙌😃
leave a cup of salty water next to the bed for the smell , you could even splash a bit on your face for extra realism
@@ireallylovegod 😅 I'll turn the blanket off first.
I'm a Hypnotherapist a nd went into a hypnotic state almost immediately...awesome...
This is such an awesome comment. With real life validity! Thank you 😌👍
I got mice in my single room flat for a year or something and every night they make soo much sudden noises that wake me. This was the best sleep I had since I don't remember when. Slept 9 and a half hours uninterrupted.
We love comments like these, when the video helps people sleep! Thank you!💛🙏. Sleep well matey! 🏴☠️
Get a cat 🐱🐀
@@tanyawieczorek7943 I wish, but I A: can't finance one and B do not have the space to have one. 😂
@@Guitartube25 aww that's too bad 🙁 they don't need much room and they can be walked outside on a leash for more exercise 😀
@@tanyawieczorek7943 My family once had two cats and neither of those would have been too happy with a leash 😂 it's also very much uncommon in my country. I have only seen a cat on a leash on the internet
Ahh yes now I can live out my fantasy of fulfilling my sentence to the Dutchman.
yarr be waiting for when yar sentence is over. You might come back with a wooden leg. Sleep well fellow pirate 🏴☠️😴💤
Underrated comment award.
I pair this with an alarm that shouts "BEAT TO QUARTERS!" followed by drumming
Haha! Thats a good way to wake up😆 All mates to the deck!
That’s awesome...
Savage...lol..
@@ExplorewithBinauralTV.. 😳 Ugh 😖😳 Allready ? I barely slept.
Ahh, shit we're sailing into a storm ⛈
You being a pirate ship and a British war does that call. It is to late to run because in a few minutes. You will be getting a broad side of Canon fire.
Makes me wish I had a hammock to sleep in, that I could modify to make it swing somehow. Lovely sounds; it'll be fun to write to 😁
This seriously cured my lifelong insomnia. I get to sleep so much faster and without waking up constantly…now I’m ready to discover that Northwest Passage, I bet we’ll be back home in no time!
I do wish I had a snack though
Glad it helped 😁
I question the structural integrity of this ship.
All large wooden ships creak like that. If they didn’t move, they would break.
😂
The wood floors in your house deflect everytime you walk on them. Your wood roof deflects everytime the weight of the snow builds up on it. There's a reason construction lumber is softwood instead of hardwood. It's meant to have some give in it.
@@TwistyTrav hey man my house isnt at sea in rough conditions
@@dazhibernian Fair point... Only houses built in certain areas are designed to withstand hurricanes winds. Not all houses. But then a house cannot move from its foundation, whereas, a ship floating on water only needs to hold itself together. So it can be a lot more flexible.
Sounds like my 2008 Charger leaving the driveway on a rainy morning. Love it ! Seriously tho, this is great!!!
Glad you like it! Appreciate your support 😴
@@ExplorewithBinauralTV so, one of my favorite soundscapes is listening to a marina. Waves lapping up against the boats and whatnot. Think you could produce one like that?
Dodge is still using that same chassis
" arrrrgggggg,,,,tie that scurvy dog to the yardarm and give im 50 lashes!!! " ☠️😝
Im actually trying to sleep on a creaky old ship when I found this and listen to it for the shear irony
what's the name of the ship?
the odds of this being true are so incredibly low but I really hope it is.
@@ThisChangeIsAwful Ostensibly, nothing on the proverbial internets is certain. I for one, may be but a mere youtube AI comment bot.
@@ThisChangeIsAwful omd 😂😂😂😂
This is one of my favorite sleep videos. The creaking of the ship reminds me of the creaky dock sounds when I would sleep on the boat as a kid.
So nice to hear. Enjoy 🥱😴💤
I listen to this while I work. It helps me concentrate a lot. I absolutely love these sounds. I am a boat and ocean lover to the core. If I'm not on the ocean in a boat, I can at least surround myself with its glorious sounds.
I dig this - the absolute best video on You Tube for sleeping. Thank you!
Thank you! We are glad you enjoy this and helps you with your sleep. Keep it in your sleep playlist to play it everynight 😴💤
Woke with a parrot on my shoulder screaming down my ear: ' PIECES OF EIGHT!! PIECES OF EIGHT!!' LOL
Your comment made me snort laugh🐽🐽
Across the World, people are now pasting pictures of Peter Gilmore to their ceilings for reassurance.
I'm sick with a terrible cough, unable to sleep, at 3am, but this is finally getting me drowsy anx I may end up sleeping after all, thank God
Hope it helped. Wishing you a speedy recovery 💪
All these funny comments made my night😂🤣😁👍🏻
I have listened to many ASMR and relaxation videos over the years and this one is in a class by itself. I love the creativity and authenticity. Many Thanks!
You're very welcome!
This sounds just like the Earth's magnetosphere!! 😮
Seems quiet for a pirate ship. Sounds more like a ghost ship adrift in the open sea. 🌊
Yes! And so now we need one with chatter and drinking in the very distant background
Just the sound of calm rain gives me nightmares, while the sound of thunder and lightning gives me vivid, calming dreams. I don’t know why, but now it’s time to see what kind of dreams these sounds give me
How were your dreams for this? I’m so curious!
@@TadBaterbomb honestly, they were more subdued and unclear. Not vivid in the slightest and in the beginning I was on the verge of waking up cause it felt like the floor would give out under my feet. But once I was under it was GG for wakefulness cause I was out like a light.
I'm currently listening to this while I read The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway. ❤
I live on a boat and this is remarkably accurate-except that it's never wholly dark
Of course it is
@@victorrosas7692 not where I'm moored :0)
Yesterday my life was fine. Today I am wearing an eye patch. Thanks alot!
This is great. Timbers rubbing to the natural rhythm of the sea.
not a bad sound to sleep to we think. Sleep well fellow pirate 😴💤
Anyone with an ounce of sea water in their blood should love this. Grew up by the ocean and later in life spent time aboard boats. What would put the perfect kiss on this for me would be the faint audible fog signal from the lighthouse about 5NM from my home. As sedative a way to pipe down now as it was back over fifty years ago . . .
arrrr was hit port side by a 20 pound cannon ball ,yet the music sounds allwed me to stay sleepin
And yar never chose to fire back with a 100 pound canon ball? Hit the deck snoozing pirate! haha. Sleep well fellow pirate 🏴☠️😴💤
@@ExplorewithBinauralTV aaaaaarrr ther was no time to arrrrr sleeep welll thanks for reply arrrr
All I need now is a hammock ⚓☠🦜
I'd hate to be the person that had to stay on this pirate ship to get the recording.
Rough seas might just make yar sea sick! But nonetheless, always good to have some vitamin SEA!
Heck, I'd go. Sail away, not come back.
Sounds like a dream job to me.

You have no idea
Woke up wondering why my rum was gone, realised I didn’t take rum to bed to begin with
Haha 😂. Could it be a fellow pirate that stole yar rum while yar was asleep? Make em walk the plank!
@@ExplorewithBinauralTV arr it could be - I do keep a hefty stash of Rum under ye bread cupboard 💪🏻

A great pirate series starts Monday on Netflix! Same cast as black sails
And this makes for a great all nighter video! Sleep well fellow pirate 😴💤
Ahoy! This is and gental for my ear holes. Very good job!
Lovely. The apartment I had in San Francisco in the 80s had an old horizontal pivot window that creaked very similarly when open and made me happy. Plus a huge seagoing vessel would blow its foghorn every now and then, adding to the ambiance. Gotta go...this vid is putting me to sleep. 😉
Such a wonderful sleep thank you
