I love the fact that your videos are agenda free. You aren't trying to sell us anything. You aren't doing a review of a watch that isn't sitting in your store that isn't selling well. You're actually reporting on the watches because you love them and you want to share them with others who love them. It's a rare thing to see on TH-cam these days. Another fantastic video on amazing watches built by true artists. Thank you!

Absolutely true. I can see an ever green spirit of knowledge from Alex. This is pretty rare because almost every TH-camr after a while becomes a sales person more or less

This is certainly fantastic watchmaking. And I’ve even been thinking while watching the video that these watches aren’t overpriced event though they are very expensive. Thanks for sharing !

Interesting walk through, well done! I love that they use a toothpick to hold the part during sandblasting 😂 Shows that no matter what price point, workers and artisans need to find solutions, and sometimes it is as simple and effective like that 👍💪

@@WatchAdvisor The most impressive thing was the fact they take so long to finish a piece, them putting quality first even if it takes a long time to do. I also loved the story of the Japanese collector who disassembled the watch to check both sides of the components were finished to the highest level and of course they were.

    • @WatchAdvisor

Very interesting video, I have researched the development of early Ferdinand Berthoud maritime chronometers (e.g. 1760 Horloge Marine n° 1), their tests during sea trials ( 376 days for Horloges Marine n°6 and n°8 by Charles Pierre d'Evreux de Fleurieu onboard l'Isis in 1768) and the later "montre a longitude" on swivel base (1796). An interesting naval history up to their operational distribution onboard French naval vessels and stockage in Brest (1786).
Why not make a video about this fascinating maritime history as Ferdinand Berthoud was the first to house a maritime chronometer in a wooden box, setting the standard for future maritime chronometer use!

Thanks for sharing your passion with us! In fact we should tell more stories about Ferdinand Berthoud and what he has achieved …. The most impressive for me was to see in the brands museum in Fleurier how quickly he was able to miniaturize his developments starting from gigantic clocks to become highly accurate pocket watches in only a few years later … this is mind blowing if you consider the fact that he had no CNC machines etc. and he had to built everything himself by hand ….
