Gavin was truly brilliant, he took ED to another level. We can tell now that the soap is not the same as it was when he was in charge... Danny tear up everytime he talks about him, and looks like he meant a lot for all the other actors.
I've gotta say emmerdale's finest years were when Gavin Blyth was in charge, it was more than a soap, he made it a real drama with genious storylines and great character depth. Love Danny miller so sad seeing him so upset :(
I'm so glad they did this tribute and gave him the recognition he deserves. I'm a massive fan of Gavin's work and thought he gave Emmerdale two of the best years it's ever had. It's a travesty it didn't pick up more awards. RIP Gavin and thanks to everyone involved on the show!
Even when I watch this back it still makes me cry everytime. Just to see the dedication that somebody has and the effect it has on someone else is amazing. A great series producer and someone who will be sadly missed. R.I.P Gavin
Just watched this clip for the first time...in floods of tears! A man who clearly touched the lives of all those around him,you can see on everybody's face how much they all loved him. R..I.P. Gavin Blyth!
It kind of reminded me when Susan Hufford a Psychotherapist (RIP), accepted an Award on behalf of her Late Husband Michael Zaslow who played Villian Roger Thorpe on Guiding Light on and Off from 1971-1997 who died in 1998 due to ALS. It was at The Soap Opera Digest Awards named after the long running Soap Opera Magazine (US). What was sad was that many of his Co-Stars and Colleagues who knew of his Death couldn't help him because they were scared of what would happen to them. Even Shemar Moore who was still new to to Soap Genre as Malcolm Winters On The Young & The Restless saw how cruel the industry can be. It's so impressive and amazing that The Men of UK Soaps are just as powerful as their US Counterparts. Many of them were known to be "Difficult".
There are some folks who work behind the scenes who really make a Soap Opera Shine. In the US it was The Late Douglas Marland who worked on both Guiding Light and it's Sister Show As the World Turns. He worked with a Young Actress named Julianne Moore, created Teenage Soap Couples and showed the impact that Vietnam had when Tom Hughes found out that a Woman that he had been with had given him a child. Sadly enough although a Writer can do well in the UK they don't have the same success in the US. Daran Little who wrote for Coronation Street would later work on All My Children & The Young & The Restless. Mal Young who was a Superstar with EastEnders tanked on The Young & The Restless as well. The Men who write for UK Soaps can teach the US Folks a thing or two. Many US Soaps are now cancelled but the UK's are stronger than ever.

This was so emotional!
And it´s like crazy Danny Miller is only 20! He has gone so far in 2 years. He is like the best being only 20? Buff
So many valuable and loved people die while so very many horrible and evil people go on living seemingly forever. Life sucks.

Interesting in reading a soap google steam411
Wait who was Gavin sorry I have just started watching
He was the emmerdale producer, he ran the whole show basically. He chose what story lines and characters there were and was the boss. A sad loss.
***** thanks
