    Our pond is only about a half acre, but we have been looking into taking better care of it, we cleared all the trees growing around it that the previous owners never maintained, I was never sure if any of these pond maintenance products actually did anything, thanks for putting this up!

      Let me know if I can answer any questions to help. At 1/2 acre they are all definitely more affordable. For the 4 acres some of the products out there are pretty pricy.

      @@HardyBrothersOutdoors I could imagine, i think we need to figure out a windmill or solar solution to get some water aerated something would be better than nothing, think just adding the dye and a muck block would give any noticeable difference? The water clarity is very poor.

      Depending on the source on your clarity issues they could help a lot. If you are getting poor water quality due to run off or stirring up of the bottom it may not help but if its organics and algae in the water in column those two products will help.

    We have a 4 + acre pond in Ohio. There are a lot of work.

      They definitely don’t maintain themselves that’s for sure. I sometimes wish when I pulled up to the property it was all taken care of but for the money I’ll keep at it until it makes more sense to outsource again.

    How often do you have to apply the Cutrine Plus? I started using it a couple of weeks ago and so far so go, but we have a hot spell coming and that's when all the algae grows. I don't know if I should apply before the growth starts or wait? Also, I got dye is as well. Thanks for that tip!

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So I spray the Cutrine on floating algae. Cycle tends to be about every 14 days. I’m not there full time so I just spray when it looks bad. The dead floating algae will sink but this is sped up with heavy rains. So when spraying the floating mats I’d wait 12-14 days. If you don’t get much more I’d hit it when it starts getting unsightly. Hope that helps. The dye I use monthly and to save money in the summer I may only add a bottle or two when outflow is low. So with 4 acres I usually do 4 concentrated quarts or 4 gallons non-concentrated and then maybe 2 next month and then 4… it’s all a big trial and error science project and conditions vary lol. My goal is to keep it looking the best I can when I can. My pond company that I had paid for the first couple of years started arriving in late April, launched a boat and did a heavy treatment then every two weeks walked the bank spraying floating algae and would add dye and possibly some Cutrine from the edges. I was never positive if they were just pouring in Cutrine. Since it is chelated copper it stays in the water column longer than some of the other algaecides I’ve reviewed like Crystal Blue.

      @@HardyBrothersOutdoors The last three years have been horrible in my pond. I've used some other products, but started with Cutrine a few weeks ago. I seemed to so something, but I have a to do. I plan on adding that Pond Bacteria stuff soon as well. Thanks for the reply!

      @@TopFitnessStrategies can you do an aerator? They say that is the best addition to a pond.

    • @TopFitnessStrategies
      @TopFitnessStrategies 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HardyBrothersOutdoors I put an aeration system with two "bubblers". This is the third year for them. I also put in a fountain last year. I have plenty of water movement, and also plenty of algae!

      @@HardyBrothersOutdoors Thanks! Picking up a couple items from your amazon store! Hopefully, I'll see a muck and algae reduction, although this small half acre pond isn't spring fed. I'm sure I'll see improvements.

    Have you tried GreenClean Pro for your algae treatment. It's awesome...great results and safe for fish and animals.
    I have been using it due to no copper. I have grass carp...copper will kill them.
    I have similar pond as yours...in the woods lots of leaves.
    Have not tried Muck Blocks may give them a try.
    Thanks for sharing you video.

      I have not tried that product, will check it out, thanks for sharing. Highly recommend the muck blocks, they are the best I've found... Pond Boss also has a version that last time I checked I was able to get the price point per pond down a bit... on 4 acres it can get expensive quick so I'm always up for saving a buck or two...

    • @phattdaddy63
      @phattdaddy63 ปีที่แล้ว

      Green Clean Pro is an awesome product.
      You will see it work with in minutes.
      It is an oxidizer and it attacks algae on contact. The only negative is the algae will release and float to the top of the water...it will either funnel out the your overflow or eventually sink. I see you aerate and this will assist with decomposition. It is not cheap but I am after results. If you decide to try it...let me know how it works for you.
      Best price I have found this season is from Seed World.

    QUESTION: I don't have algae but a bluish white water. The spring comes out about 3 farms up from me. Could it be from farm chemicals, or is it coming from my own soil? (I live in middle South Tennessee)

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wish I could help you with this but I've not heard of bluish white water issues and cannot find any information regarding it. Lots of questions come to mind but you might have more luck asking on one of the pond management forums on Facebook, such as this one; facebook.com/groups/PWNRA
      Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

      Not treating with pesticides, these are herbicides and algaecides and I’m not a licensed applicator selling services so no need to be certified. Thanks for watching and commenting.
