Everything you said was spot on! I have/do basically everything that you said, with the exception of once my girl turned 2, she only gets fed every other week. Every once in awhile, she will refuse food, but, mostly, she "eats like a boa." She was a little bit sassy at the start, but, honestly, my Argentine has more spice than Willie does now. She is a dream to handle.
it's always a joy to see bowie !she is so pretty !.n so good with you , handling ..can't imagine if you ever move omg what job moving all your enclosures n reptiles.i love your house so cool decorated
My brb was super nippy for the first couple weeks second most to my green tree python but now both are super tame , it just was a lot of interaction with them . Surprisingly my most defensive snake is a banana pied ball python I got but he was an adult when I got him , poor guy is scared of his own shadow I swear 🤣🤣. Excellent information as always great video can’t wait for the next one
❤ really awesome update ❤ i have a BRB as well, i agree with everything that you mentioned. Hopefully once mine gets out of his juvenile stage I hope we can be as calm with each other and bond like you and Bowie 🥰 we needed more positive BRB content out in the world. Thank you.
brb are my absolute dream species and im working on getting one soon ❤ I already have a 7x2x2 for when i do eventually get one! this video is so helpful :)
Could you potentially do a video showing how you’ve set up the zen for a brb specifically/an enclosure tour? I see so many people in some brb Facebook groups saying zen habitats are one of the “worst” to keep them in with humidity issues and escapes specifically. Do you cover the screen top in any way?
All the pvc enclosures come with humidity shields you can place on top! It’s more so about creating the humidity inside it. The enclosure can hold up to the moisture, but we have to create it ourselves and also allow dry periods so it’s not overly moist. I can definitely make a video on it!
@@reptiliangardenThank you so much! I just found your older video initially setting up the 4x2x2, watching it now, I’m just weary from others experiences with it especially escapes.😬
@@reptiliangardenhave you ever had an issue with the acrylic doors warping? I’ve used acrylic plexi in the past with high humidity species and it warped so bad there was a 1 inch gap between the doors
We just got a baby rainbow! So glad you made this. Do they normally come out every night? I'm scared to feed them every other day. But I feel like they would eat, if I offered. Once a week is going well. Besides in shed, did not want to be bothered.
Congratulations! They would eat every day if they could! Once a week is perfect for the babies! They mainly burrow and aren't super active every single night, but yours may need more time to adjust. I am sure you will see yours coming out at night eventually!
Thank you so much for the video! It was wonderfully made! 😁 I recently got a BRB and i plan to move her to bioactive within the next couple of weeks after setting up her pvc tank. I wanted to ask since i was planning to go with the Josh's Frogs biobedding like you did, did you use a drainage layer or were you able to make due without one?
@@reptiliangarden thank you so much for getting back to me! I'm glad that the bio bedding works perfectly without a drainage layer, I can't wait to try it! 😁
I used a tank and it was difficult to keep humidity up. I’d recommend pvc or a tub! Just be sure if you use a tub to have a dry period and ventilation as well. You don’t want it sopping wet 247
These are a great snake to transition from snall to midsize . I had one long ago before husbandry was really a thing, still did great only problem i had was she got out for 6 months before i found her ,but she was still doing good a few meals and was fine. Only snake i had that escaped from red tails, rainbow boa, ball python, Burmese and indigo when i was a child.
@@reptiliangarden Pretty much the same girly :) Doing my research on possibly getting a beardie too. Looking for a slow moving and somewhat affectionate pet. On the fence between beardies and guinea pigs. Already have a pup
What do you use to heat the warm side of your enclosure? I have a large enclosure that is 5x2x3.5 that I would like to house a baby BRB but I don't know what I can use to keep that warm side in the 80's. Would a radiant heat panel work?
They work, but they dry out the enclosure a lot and make it impossible to keep humidity up. I would recommend using a heat mat instead regulated by a thermostat!
@@reptiliangarden I should mention it's being turned into a Paludarium where one side will have a water pool & filtration system & also auto misters. Should I still go with the heat matt on the substrate side?
I am trying to find someone I can message to get information on BRBs. I took one in as a rescue and I am getting him all set up, but I am curious if there is a way to get an estimate on his age. I am curious because i want to make sure I feeding him the correct amount and giving him the room he needs.
Age can be difficult to determine exactly. If you have a smaller boa, I would feed 1x a week. Feed a prey item as thick in girth as the thickest part of your snake. Once your snake is full grown, you can slow down the feedings!
@@reptiliangarden Thank you! He seems much happier being fed once a week. The people I got him from only fed him every 3 weeks and didn’t handle him much. He is a very relaxed guy and does great when handled other than trying to go up my sleeve or in the pocket of my hoodie.
Very similar to the current line of meridian enclosures! They will look similar and have new extension kits. They will be easy to assemble and can still be stacked too. Just some tweaking to ensure an even better product this summer! ❤
Good video, only one comment to make: Almost everyone creating snake related content on TH-cam is stating that a boa does not need UVB light. However, this is completely outdated. What do you think happens in the wild? Of course they need UVB-radiation, so please do your research before making these statements.

Wow bitchy much? Uvb is beneficial yes but it’s not a 100% must have like it would be for something like a basilisk or a beardy
