    Wow this is super smart and simple! Thanks for saving me a huge headache trying to figure out how to do my dollhouse roofing. 😁

    I used this roofing technique back in the 1980's and the sandpaper tiles are still going strong and look as good now as they did back then!

    They look great. You explained it very well. I'm building a small scale farm house so just made them smaller.

    I've been using sandpaper for 30 years like this. I don't know why more people don't, given that whatever grade of texture you want, you can have ready-made.
    Your method requires far more time than it needs to, but a great start.

    I used sandpaper many years ago, but I painted it first, so it had different colors like real roof tiles.

    Nov. 10, 2018---Thanks for the video. I'm not into doll houses, but been learning a lot from people like you and your how to videos. Getting back into modeling, but going for 1/35th scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas, some of which will have houses either in good shape or falling apart from decades of weathering. There are also those roofing tiles (shingles?) that use a half moon shape which I hope to use a pair of scissors for.

    Top idea. I have built a stable out of paddle pop sticks, tongue depressors and balsa wood, the put the nativity scene for Christmas 2022, and have been wondering how to make the roof look oldish

    Nice video. I suppose if you use silicon carbide sandpaper, then it can be used outside.

    Are these measurements correct for a 1:12 scale house? Thanks! Very easy and CHEAP! Unlike everything available from a miniatures store. I feel like those people rip you off so bad!

    • @shirleyknight7913
      @shirleyknight7913  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you for your comment. yes the measurements are OK for a 1.12 house. well they look OK on my doll house. I try and make most of the things for my house.

    Do you think this scale would work for 1/24 scale house or should the tiles be a bit smaller? Brilliant idea btw thanks for sharing.

    • @shirleyknight7913
      @shirleyknight7913  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tasha6135 hi all you would have to do is instead of marking out 1 inch mark out half inch. I hope that helps

    i'm "renovating" my old childhood dollhouse... i already have paper layered for the roof but its faded. do you think i have to remove you or can i fix the sandpaper tiles on top? Thank you!

    • @shirleyknight7913
      @shirleyknight7913  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Anna Bongiorno Hi anna, i think it would be better to remove the old roof. the sandpaper will fix down better. i am on facebook it you would like to friend me on there. if you are on there too. then you can see the pictures i have no there of the house i did with the sandpaper.
