The Oncoming Storm was a masterpiece of an album. I've seen these guys live so many times and they've never disappointed. One of my favorite metal shows I ever went to was an Unearth headliner at a small bar room that could hold maybe 150-200 max people. I remember mid-set walking back to the bar to get a beer, and whilst I was waiting at the bar, they started into the next song which was This Lying World. I'm about to get my beer and run back to the pit, but all of a sudden I see this guy climbing on top of the fucking bar right in front of me and I assumed it was some douchebag who was just hammered and had no idea what he was doing. Nope, it was Buzz lmao. Though he'd probably argue that was an accurate description because of the kind of dude he is lol. Played the rest of the song on top of the bar, funneled a beer, then ran back to the stage for the next song. One of the reasons why I still love this band to this day. They're a no bullshit band. They've stuck to what made them popular in the early days and haven't tried to change or appease anyone to become more mainstream of an act. They are what they are and people love them for it. That same show, I even got to exchange a few words with both Ken and Buzz afterwards out in the parking lot because they were just bullshitting and hanging out with people for like a good hour before they packed up and left. Both of them were extremely down to earth and just normal dudes who liked to have a good time. They were about 10 years younger than they are in this video because I'm almost positive The March hadn't come out yet. Think this was 2007 or early 2008.
These guys have always been my favourite for that reason....First time I saw them live it was 2005, I was 12 years old and going to see my fav band at the time Slipknot lol....Unearth and Killswitch Engage were the openers.....Unearth absolutely crushed it, and then Trevor did the vocals for Killswitch because their vocalist was sick or something, It was amazing. I left that night with a new favourite band. Ive seen them live so many times since then and its always an amazing experience. I just saw them last year with Darkest Hour and they still got it....Still playing tight as ever, still super nice dudes, and I have NEVER been let down by them. Unearth fucking rules. Edit: 100% Agree. The Oncoming Storm is still one of my favourite albums ever.
That breaking the string at the end of dueling solo 😂 By the way : one of those songs that made me love Unearth Definitely a great song and a great band
I remember myself banging head till it nearly broke, back when this was their current release. I worshipped every single note 'The oncoming storm' thrown at me. The guitars and leads, competitive to masterclass guitarists, stunned me not only back then, but also years later. Like now. :D
One of my favorite songs guitar wise from one of my favorite albums ever. So catchy and the parts are harmonious and just fit with each other so well. Simply genius writing. Such a pleasure to hear it like this.
I love u guys! One of the best concerts in my life was in Hard Rock in Las Vegas when i had the opportunity to see you guys live! Cheers from a true brazilian fan!
This why Unearth..is truly the best..hands down..I luv your new single..and can’t wait to see you in Vancouver soon..you guys put on the best show ever 🤘🏽
I have wanted to be able to play this song for so long. It's such a masterpiece. The skill is just to high for me still. Finally got a 7 string but still practicing. Just got the tabs for it but it is crazy hard.
Does anyone know how the shred part at 1:53 is played. It's sixteenths, but I'm not sure if every second note is played with a hammeron, or if every note is actually struck, because that seems a bit too fast to me
hahahaha! that was great once upon a time at 5th grade graduation, i played a cello solo and broke a string, also right at a high pitch part. ...except i was in 5th grade so i didn't know how to keep playing and finish
Y'all fuckin shred. This is music! Then add the rest of the band. When I want to get jazzed, pumped or bring me out of a funk. This is it. Yeah I know regardless zombie autopilot has been one of jams for yeeeeeeeaaars.
I'm getting Buz's LTD model here. Came to maybe see what to expect out of the neck. My other LTD's are pretty chunky but looks like this guy is wide/flat like an Ibanez, pretty sure it has a 400mm radius
Similar to EMG 81/707 set but alot more output. plugging into my soundcard I have to turn the input gain all the way down and it still peaks it. I'd say the highs are a bit different from the 81. They're good but don't believe the "passive" mode they advertise. They are active pickups and sound and respond like actives
This is in drop? I learned the great dividers recently and it was in standard b on a 7 so I figured that was the tuning. I was gonna learn this next is this drop B on a seven string?? No wonder he broke a string lol. Not sure I wanna tune my 7 that high, I just put new strings on it.
Whoa, what the hell is up with their guitar tuning though? Looks like B-F#-B-E-A-C#-F# instead of concert 7-string. Anyone happen to know when they switched this? I definitely saw them playing normal tuning live.
They have switched from standard B tuning to a drop B tuning on a 7-string guitar; all the strings below the low B are a step up. Buz mentioned in an interview that a few songs could not be transferred to drop B, and remain in standard B, most of their set now is in drop B.
WHY GOD I NEVER SAW THEY MAKE THIS SOLO LIKE A FUCKING CD VERSION?! EVER JUST EVER THIS SONG WHEN THEY PLAY THIS SOLO ITS LIKE A SHIT?!! WHY YOU DON'T ACTIVE THE SAME EFECTS THAT YOUT USED ON THE FUCKING STUDIO?!!! ( I LOVE UNEARTH WITH ALL MY HEART).
These guys are the perfect example of having fun on stage without being annoying as living fuck, mentioning no names of members of other Metalcore bands from the same area that have produced Unearth or anything.... COUGH ADAM D COUGH

Was this in Chicopee MA? Because this sounds exactly like a show I went to a couple years ago.
Ken, a true rock star. Licks his finger for that tapped slide, then breaks a string and keeps playing!! 🤘🤘🤘
Is the lick a fun thing from the 80s or something ?
Ken be like : who needs that string anyways???
@@d77sauce it’s BDE. It’s always the little things with the big things
Watching this put a big ol' smile on my face.
That breaking the string at the end of dueling solo 😂
By the way : one of those songs that made me love Unearth
Definitely a great song and a great band
Underrated
SINCE WHEN
I remember myself banging head till it nearly broke, back when this was their current release.
I worshipped every single note 'The oncoming storm' thrown at me.
The guitars and leads, competitive to masterclass guitarists, stunned me not only back then, but also years later. Like now. :D
One of the best songs ever written ❤️🙌🏻
Man. This makes me miss you guys.
Wish granted. New Unearth
that face after he breaks a string lol
One of my favorite songs guitar wise from one of my favorite albums ever. So catchy and the parts are harmonious and just fit with each other so well. Simply genius writing. Such a pleasure to hear it like this.
UNEARTH has been my fav band since day 1!

Quite possibly my favorite album of all time, thanks!
Amazing song, amazing Guitarist! Needs more views!!
My favorite tune from this album!
This came out when i was 17 and it still hits just as hard now as it did then
Same
Truly incredibly talented and ridiculously underrated. Just like Shadows Fall, All That Remains(R.I.P OLI),Ill Nino, etc.
I have wanted to be able to play this song for so long. It's such a masterpiece. The skill is just to high for me still. Finally got a 7 string but still practicing. Just got the tabs for it but it is crazy hard.
Yo, got me a 7 string as well. Please share those guitar tabs 🤛
God, I miss the 2000s.
Unearth hell yeah 🤘🏾but still i miss Ken Susi
2:25 buz as like 'oh come on..'
Still the best metal bands of all time👍 I’m a drummer but I always payed more attention to the guitar in this band. Blew me away.
Ken Susi gtr looks killer! :) Great video!
These guys are the best. Comicle up on stage but rock the house down at the same time.
*comical up on stage
They have great chemistry...such a good song
Cada vez que lo veo es una locura...
Awesome as always
So badass! Could you guys release some zombie autopilot instrumental? Still one of the best songs ever!
Best song ever!
1:38 - 1:40 Oooh that pinch harmonic , slick!
awesome!
Superb guitar work.
I love You Guys!!!
this solo is just digusting. the pass off snd maintaining the feeling is unreal. these boys have been the real deal forever
How is no one talking about Ken Susi’s INSANE volume knob control. Homeboy comes with a built in gate lmfaoooo
Nailed it! Good job guys :) Thank you for the inspiration!
2:29 wow moment...when string just breaks
Does anyone know how the shred part at 1:53 is played. It's sixteenths, but I'm not sure if every second note is played with a hammeron, or if every note is actually struck, because that seems a bit too fast to me
that part just seems off to me. It is not played like the original and sounds like some wrong notes as well.
Dotted eight note triplets all picked but I recommend practicing Legato at first until you get up to speed picking every note
Last time I saw them live they openes for Sam Black Church in Cambridge. Unreal and so underrated
yeah thats the high string popin right there. 9 tuned to F# :)
Stings of Concience is perfect...just wish it was mixed down like Oncoming Storm
hahahaha! that was great
once upon a time at 5th grade graduation, i played a cello solo and broke a string, also right at a high pitch part.
...except i was in 5th grade so i didn't know how to keep playing and finish
Played it off well.
All days are lost,to what we know..
my childhood
The masters
Omg sickkkkkkkk yesss
The String!!!!!!
Hahahaha still great for me 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Does anyone know where I can find a guitar pro tab to this?? Please!!
Y'all fuckin shred. This is music! Then add the rest of the band. When I want to get jazzed, pumped or bring me out of a funk. This is it. Yeah I know regardless zombie autopilot has been one of jams for yeeeeeeeaaars.
Shredding lol Massachusetts legends
Lol the way Buz rolls his eyes when Ken fucks up near the end of the solo. So good.
broke a string brotha
hehe yeah buz was so annoyed..and ken knew he fucked up
So fucking sick
Glen Tipton and KK Downing or Adrian Smith and Dave Murray of metalcore?
I'm getting Buz's LTD model here. Came to maybe see what to expect out of the neck. My other LTD's are pretty chunky but looks like this guy is wide/flat like an Ibanez, pretty sure it has a 400mm radius
Adam Youdell it is thinner and flatter than the standard ltd necks. You should definately try the guitar out. It is stellar!
Ended up getting it and very happy with it!
Adam Youdell how do you like the pickups? Are they as good as advertised?
Similar to EMG 81/707 set but alot more output. plugging into my soundcard I have to turn the input gain all the way down and it still peaks it. I'd say the highs are a bit different from the 81. They're good but don't believe the "passive" mode they advertise. They are active pickups and sound and respond like actives
Adam Youdell thats very cool. Thank you for the response man.
This is in drop? I learned the great dividers recently and it was in standard b on a 7 so I figured that was the tuning. I was gonna learn this next is this drop B on a seven string?? No wonder he broke a string lol. Not sure I wanna tune my 7 that high, I just put new strings on it.
they moved to drop on Darkness in the Light and transposed almost all of their old stuff
Immense.
epic
Come her because Abe Bakar II .
WE ARE FROM MALAYSIA 🇲🇾
Bad ass.Unearth is the shit
most replayed section is kinda funny cu7z its literally ken breaking his high string hahahahahh
DAYUM
Nice!
Nice
It takes some skill to turn the volume knob down on every one of those pauses so there’s no feedback! Lol
Whoa, what the hell is up with their guitar tuning though? Looks like B-F#-B-E-A-C#-F# instead of concert 7-string. Anyone happen to know when they switched this? I definitely saw them playing normal tuning live.

It’s probably for maximum shred since there’s an extra 2 notes on the high e
broken string
i just came.. :)
I’m sure you didn’t miss that ripped string after that solo lol
100% execution.
-99% feeling.
3:21 did enlightenment just hit them both lol!
these guys deserve ESP signature guitars
Buzz has a few signature LTDs
Vince Caruana ltds though not esp
